How To Hide Commands In Minecraft

MINECRAFT | How to Remove CHAT! 1.16.4

For those of you who have been playing Minecraft for a while, most of you will have a pretty good idea of how to use the commands.

This is especially true if you are the type who wants to access the most intricate and advanced features of the game.

To get into it, you first need to access the chat function. Then, you can activate these commands by typing in a specific string of text.

Generally, you will have these saved as opposed to having to memorize them.

So, you open the chat window by either hitting the T or / key on your keyboard and then paste your chosen command in.

All of these commands will also begin with a / as a prefix.

Each and every one of these available commands is designed to change some element of the gameplay within your Minecraft world.

And, despite how complicated it all sounds, they are actually pretty easy to use once your know-how.

So long as you remember that all of these commands will need to be in lower case to take effect, that is.

However, though there are loads of you who have all of this figured out, it seems like there are quite a few of you that are having trouble trying to hide these commands.

So, today that is what we are going to deal with. So, without any further ado, lets get right into it!

How Do I Disable Chat

I am making a mini-game for my server, working with version 1.7.10, and using spigot/bukkit.

Is there any way to disable players from chatting, but still allow for any command outputs to still appear, for example, a command blocking executing /tellraw.

I want all players to be unable to use chat, including the /msg, /tell and /say commands.

  • Try constantly pressing F3+D… not good ideaApr 6, 2016 at 9:20
  • 1You have to use a plugin and block everything, in bukkit this would be the event called PlayerChatEvent, you could use e.Cancel everytime the event is called.Apr 6, 2016 at 9:22
  • Options> Chat Settings> Chat: Commands Only

You can use this:

But needed thing is that you create its own map for the “event”, so players will be on separate map . The plus side of this is that players will be ABLE to chat, but only with people on same map – so it is possibly to make team events or so, still maintaining that the “main” chat will be totally separated from them.

However probably for the /tell etc commands you will need to use permissions , if there is no feature in that plugin for this, too.

So all you need is to find permission nodes for all commands you want to disable and disable those commands in the world your game is being played in. For PEX , just use something like this with negative permission and putting it into the world you have it in :

/pex group default add -< permission.node.you.want.to.disable> < worldname>

Minecraft 1164 Lets You Mute Chat From Specific Players

Minecraft 1.16.4 finally adds the option to mute individual players, as part of a new social interactions screen in the patchs first pre-release version. Yes, vanilla Java Edition has been without the option to mute specific players for all this time, but the new social interactions screen will finally make it easy to hide the chat of someone who is being a bit of a rotten potato.

By default, youll be able to tap P to see a list of players on the server. Then you can quickly tap a button next to any players name to specifically hide chat messages from that person. The mute is purely client-side and, for now, will be reset whenever you log out, as Mojangs Mikael slicedlime Hedberg explains on Reddit. But he says the team has lots of ideas on what else we can do here, and the feedback and experiences from players and the guardians of younger players is much appreciated!

The rest of this update is mostly made up of technical changes, including a new network protocol scheme thats going to be pretty much invisible for anyone whos not building their own custom Minecraft servers.

You can check out a broad overview of the new features in the video below. You can download the snapshot directly from the Minecraft launcher.

If youre looking for more on Caves and Cliffs ahead of the 1.17 release date, it seems that we should be seeing those snapshots soon, as producer Adrian Östergård said last week that 1.16.4 would be coming beforehand.

How Do I Hide Commands In Minecraft

In general, when you type a command into the chat bar, it will show up for all to read.

Naturally, this isnt the best especially if you are on a large server and want to keep the chat free for actual conversations.

    Method 1: Chat Settings

Luckily, hiding these commands can be done, and it isnt all that difficult to do.

    • So, if you want to do this, the first thing that you will need to do is go into your settings.
    • From here, go to the chat settings. And thats it.
    • From this menu, you can toggle on and off the chat commands as and when you see fit.
    • Once it is off, no commands will show up in the group chat.

    Method 2: Chat Command

However, if you dont want to do it this way, there is also another method that you can use.

For this one, all you need to do is copy and paste the below command, and it will have the same effect.

    • The command goes like this: /gamerule commandblockoutput false

As this is Minecraft, and there are pretty much a million ways to do anything that you want, you can also use this command to hide the commands that you put into a server from all of the other players.

    • That command is: /gamerule sendCommandFeedback false.

This last command is the most intricate of all of the ones that we have mentioned, as it will disable feedback from the commands entered by any and every player in the chat.

Benefits as a Minecraft Server Owner

However, it does have to be said that you cant hide server commands from other players if you are not the owner of the server.

How Do I Hide Chat On Minecraft

This can be done in the multiplayer settings. Hit escape to bring up the menu, then click Options. On the Options screen, click Multiplayer Settings. Then click the Chat: button to set it either show commands or just be hidden. And you’re done. New chat messages from other players won’t be shown to you. Note that you won’t be able to chat either.

Go to “Settings” -> “Multiplayer settings” and click on “Chat shown”. You can set it to commands only or fully hidden. I would recommend you to set it to “Commands only”, since you can still type commands. Also, some servers allow you to ignore players by doing “/ignore “. That can also be useful.
