What Happens On The Server

How to Join Servers on Nintendo Switch (Minecraft Bedrock)

Multiple archetypes of Minecraft servers exist, distinguished by the unique gameplay features, rules, and societal structures which they implement. No two servers are the same, and frequently the line between archetypes is blurred or indistinguishable. Many special types of servers rely on modded versions of the server software, such as Bukkit. Modded server software is not supported by Mojang. Bukkit servers may have plugins that modify the experience from the vanilla server. If on a bukkit server, one can type /plugins. You can then do research on what the plugins do.

If you are having a slow device, you may encounter a huge lag strike upon entering the server. Lag happens when there are too much moving beings on the server, and the computer is not advanced enough to cauculate lots of movments at once. Lag happens oftener when two players are far apart from each other. The computer only “cares about” the chunks around you, but not those far away, so forcing the computer to load in seperate far locations can mean lag.

For a list of common server types, go to the Server page.

This is true for the unmodified server software:

Additional Paid Server Options

Other third-party, subscription-based, and free options are available if youd rather not take the Realms route.

There are many benefits to using a third-party server, including easy setup, consistent access, and technical support. There are more paid services available than the free offerings, however, and a lot of them can be found on the Minecraft forums starting at under $5 a month, with rates increasing for use of extra server software and for more allowed connections.

While setting up your own server can be complicated and require some networking knowledge, most of the paid services designed specifically for Minecraft automate the process. Setup is usually as simple as picking the number of players, deciding the type of world, then hitting go. Configuring and restarting the server is also easy thanks to web interfaces that deal with configuration files and parameters in more robust ways than a user might if they were just editing the files themselves.

Some systems like Multicraft are implemented by hosting companies to allow users to access the controls to their servers in limited ways while leaving some configuration decisions in the hands of the host.

The port and IP addresses will be listed on the administration page for the server, allowing players to easily join the game. Using a server like this also gives players a fair amount of freedom because they can ban other users or reboot the server when needed.

How To Join ANY SERVER on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One (Minecraft Bedrock)

“Minecraft: Bedrock Edition” is playable on Windows 10 PCs, Xbox One and Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, iOS and iPadOS devices, and Android devices.

If you’re playing “Minecraft: Bedrock Edition,” you can add friends and play with them on any other system. They just have to be playing “Bedrock Edition” too.

Quick tip: Be aware that you may not see the word “Bedrock” when you buy a copy of “Minecraft” for your console – the subtitle is generally omitted in the marketing. On PCs, for example, it’s often called just “Minecraft for Windows 10.”

If you’re playing that version, or any version of “Minecraft” on a console or phone, you’re playing “Bedrock.”

How To Set Up Minecraft Realms

If you want to start from scratch and create a new world in Realms, go ahead and start setting up the world as you want it, with difficulty, mode , along with any other customisations you want to add. Once you’re happy with your settings, you should look for the ‘Create on Realms’ button, just to the right of the default ‘Create’ option. You’ll then be given the option of a 10-player Realm or a 2-player Realm. Once you’ve accepted the Terms and Conditions and finalised the transaction, you’ll be able to access your new Realm and Marketplace goodies if you selected the 10-player option straight away.

Minecraft Realms is charged on a month-to-month basis so if you find that you and your friends don’t get as much use out of it as you’d hoped, you can cancel at any time by visiting the subscription section of Microsoft’s website.

How To Back Up Or Replace Your World In Minecraft Realms

You don’t have to stick with the same World when using Minecraft Realms. If you want to start a completely new World or if you want to replace your current one with another, you can do that too. But you might want to back up your current World before doing so, otherwise you’ll lose any progress you’ve made on it.

To back up your existing World on Minecraft Realms, click the ‘Edit’ button next to your Realm world and select ‘Download World’. This will save the World to your device and you’ll be able to play it locally or re-upload it again later if you change your mind.

To replace your current World on Minecraft Realms, again click ‘Edit’ next to your Realm world and select ‘Replace World’. You will be then asked to confirm this action before being presented with a list of available worlds to replace it with. Once selected, the new world will be uploaded and you’ll be ready to go.

How To Launch The Java Edition Server

    Minecraft (Nintendo Switch) Walkthrough

Instead of right-clicking on the sever.jar file to launch the server, we can create a BAT file and insert a modified command to help the server run more smoothly.

Step 1: Right-click within the folder and select New followed by Text Document on the pop-up menus.

Step 2: Rename the file so you can recognize it later.

Step 3: Open the file and enter the following command: java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar server.jar pause

The first two numbers allocate memory to the server, while pause keeps the server window open.

Step 4: Save the file and then rename its extension to .bat .

Step 5: Double-click the new BAT file to launch the server.

How To Join Servers In Minecraft Bedrock

Minecraft servers give the game a great multiplayer option. While there is multiplayer with friends, that’s typically just playing on a world with other people. Servers take it to the next level by providing players with an online gaming experience and often something that’s totally different from regular Minecraft.

Minecraft servers can offer PVP worlds, BedWars , and other Adventure worlds. While these are often seen as Java Edition features, Bedrock Edition players have access to them, too.

Here’s how to get on them.

Minecraft: Java Edition Enable Remote Play

Keep in mind that for remote gamers to connect to your server, youll need to know two things: Your public-facing IP address assigned to your modem and the IP address of the local PC running your server. For the latter, we suggest going into the router and assigning a static IP address so the PCs address never changes.

You will also need to use port forwarding so the Minecraft packets know exactly where to go. Again, the ideal scenario is to assign a static IP address to the server PC. The port Minecraft requires is: 25565.

Essentially, the path will look something like this: incoming > modem > router > static IP address via port 25565.

How To Identify Your Server Address

To get started, you need to identify the address of the server you want to join. If you own a Shockbyte server, you can find your server address on your Multicraft server panel . This will be labeled as “Server Address” as shown in the screenshot below.

In the example above, the server address is 192.168.2.1:12345. Breaking this down, the server IP is the set of numbers before the “:” symbol, and after this are the last five numbers which are the server port.

Second, if you have the Java version of the game, you can only join servers running Minecraft Realms Java. If you are on a PC and want to play Minecraft with players on consoles, you must use Minecraft for Windows 10, since they all use Minecraft Realms Plus.

    Yes ‘minecraft’ Is Cross

    • ” cross-platform gameplay for both editions of the game, but in different ways.
    • If you’re playing “Minecraft: Bedrock Edition,” you can play with Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and smartphone players.
    • If you’re playing “Minecraft: Java Edition,” you can play with Windows, Mac, and Linux players.

Over the past few years, “Minecraft” has developed a great multiplayer mode. Best of all, this multiplayer mode has cross-platform functionality, meaning that it doesn’t matter what system you play “Minecraft” on – you can play with friends on any system.

Just note that there are two different versions of “Minecraft,” and each one of them does crossplay a bit differently. The biggest thing to remember is that you can play “Minecraft” with anyone who owns the same version as you.

If you want to play with your friends, here’s what you need to know about how “Minecraft” supports cross-platform gaming.

Joining A Minecraft Server On Bedrock Edition

Bedrock Edition covers most of the game’s platforms. Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, Pocket Edition and even Windows 10 Edition fall under the Bedrock umbrella, so it’s safe to say that Bedrock is pretty popular.

Servers can be anything and players can join them and play the game modes that are available. There are a few ways of doing this.

For Minecraft Pocket Edition, players can have Pocket Edition installed on a supported platform and ready to play. While Pocket Edition does, Xbox, PlayStation and Windows devices do not allow players to join servers with an IP address.

I miss the old days of Minecraft. I had Xbox 1 edition and I remember I used to play the Battle, Tumble, and Glide mini games. I would make Xbox friends and then make “servers” with them. It is still some of my favorite memories. That, or put those mini games on Bedrock edition.

For those that can, they can navigate to the “Servers” tab of Minecraft Bedrock after clicking the play button. An Internet connection will be required. There will be several different server options available, including an option to add one of the player’s own.

Players can also click the “Join Server” button and input the information manually to join a particular one. For platforms that don’t allow that, they can still join servers.

How To Invite Friends To Your Minecraft Realms

The good news is that friends that you want to invite to your Realm don’t need to have the subscription to join and play with you.

To invite friends to your Realm, click the Edit button next to your Realm world, then select ‘Members’. You should see a list of friends that you have already invited and you’ll have the option to invite more. It seems that the number of invites you can send out is almost limitless but the people that can play on your Realm simultaneously will be limited by your subscription type so either two or ten players at a time.

This is also where you’ll be able to ‘uninvite’ players if they’ve outstayed their welcome or haven’t been active for a while.

Using The Windows 10 Edition On Desktop

  • 1Find your server’s address and port number. If you aren’t connecting to a pre-configured server, you’ll need to know the server’s address and port number.
  • Some websites will display Minecraft servers in “address:port” configuration . If so, exclude the colon from the address and use the number to the right of the colon as the port entry.
  • If you’re using a desktop server website to find a server, you probably won’t see a port number listed. If so, try using the default port number that’s listed in the “Port” text box when creating your server.
  • 2Open Minecraft. Click the Minecraft app icon, which resembles a 2D grassy block of dirt.
