Bees can be useful for pollinating various plants in Minecraft. Theyre also the main source of honey and honeycombs, making them valuable for players looking to make candles or extra sugar. Because of this, players should learn how to attract bees in order to farm those resources easier.

Add Items To Make A Beehive

In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3×3 crafting grid. To make a beehive, place 6 wood planks and in the 3×3 crafting grid.

When crafting with wood planks, you can use any kind of wood planks, such as , , , , , , , or planks. In our example, we are using oak planks.

When making a beehive, it is important that the wood planks and honeycombs are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. In the first row, there should be 3 wood planks. In the second row, there should be 3 honeycombs. In the third row, there should be 3 wood planks. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for a beehive.

How To Get Beeswax Easily In Minecraft

In Minecraft, beeswax, otherwise known as honeycombs, can be acquired from bee nests and beehives.

In addition to being a major component in the creation of beehives, candles, and honeycomb blocks, honeycombs can also be used to wax copper blocks to prevent further oxidation.

Whether players are obtaining them from natural bee nests or man-made beehives, the means to acquire honeycombs are more or less the same.

How To Harvest Honey And Honeycomb At A Bee Farm

Bees can’t be trained to fight for you, so don’t expect them to help against slimes or the Wither boss. However, Bee Farms are useful for harvesting both Honey and Honeycomb, which are two resources that have different purposes.

To harvest Honeycomb, you’ll need to use Shears on a Beehive or Bee Nest that has reached a “honey level” of 5.

Honeycomb is used to create Beehives and Candles, and it can also be used to “wax” various kinds of Copper blocks.

To harvest Honey, right-click on the Beehive or Bee Nest with an empty Glass Bottle. This will fill the bottle with Honey.

Honey can be placed in a crafting window to produce 3 Sugar, or you can put 4 Honey in a 2×2 grid to create a Honey Block, a block which deters and slows mobs, and lowers fall damage for anything that lands on it.

Make sure you place a lit Campfire under any Beehive or Bee Nest that you’re about to harvest Honey or Honeycomb from, as this will stop the Bees from attacking you when you do so.

To make a Campfire in a Crafting Table window, fill the bottom row with 3 Logs, place 1 Coal in the middle of the grid, and then place 3 sticks above and to the left and right of the Coal, as you see below:

Student Creations From Septembers Bee Creative Build Challenge

Our Build Challenge for the month of September invited students to Bee Creative, designing pollinator gardens for bees, the latest mob to be added to Minecraft: Education Edition. Learners were clearly excited about these new creatures, and we received the most entries weve ever seen for one challenge. We have an epic lineup for you this month from students around the world. We hope their builds inspire you to try out your own pollinator habitats!

First up, Kamal Preet from India shared her student Simars work. You couldnt ask for a better outline of why pollinators are important. This build features a real learning odyssey, including non-player characters that help explain key concepts and definitions.

Geetika Pants team, the Tech Pandas, decided to theme their build after the UNs Sustainable Development Goal #15, the development of social and economic affairs. 16 individual students collaborated on this massive build, and they created an enormous complex with colorful plots and plenty of facts about the industry of agriculture.

In Malaysia, Azruls students collaborated within one 45-minute class period to produce an epic pollinator layout that even featured a Redstone-powered minecart track for getting around. They created an especially clever canal system to support easy irrigation.
