    How To Fix Server Lag

Knowing how to optimize your server is vital in preventing server lag. This will be breaking down what you need to change in your server configuration to get the best possible performance without having to compromise your gameplay. We will be going through all of the steps in server optimization.

One of the most vital steps in lag removal is pregenerating the world. This should be done before anything else. The best way to do this is with the WorldBorder plugin. All you have to do is type /wb set followed by /wb fill. This will start generating the world for you, make sure to set the radius to something reasonable like 5000 as pregeneration takes a long time.

One option that is beneficial to reduce on any type of Minecraft server is the view distance from the server.properties file. Any number between 4-8 should help with optimizing the server.

If you are running Craftbukkit or Vanilla, you will want to switch to Paper or Spigot. Both of these versions have optimizations for in-game ticks, chunk loading, block decay, and more optimizations for great performance. While both of these versions are great, Paper is recommended as it does not include async chunk loading which improves the server performance immensely.

How To Diagnose & Fix Minecraft Network Lag

    Minecraft

Ping, is your Network latency to communicate with a Minecraft server, you can ping a Minecraft server from in-game and also outside the game.

You can see your ping to a server by looking at the bars in the server list and also when you press tab on a server, on PirateCraft you can also use /ping in-game.

The biggest variable is your physical location to the Minecraft server, if you are in the USA and you are connecting to a server in Germany this may result in slightly higher latency as data has to be sent to and from server < => Client, but it wont effect gameplay unless you have Network/Internet issues.

How To Make Minecraft: Bedrock Edition Less Laggy

Minecraft: Bedrock Edition’s code platform was created in an attempt to move away from the restrictions of Java, but that doesn’t negate its share of issues.

One of the biggest complaints in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is lag. However, there is sometimes a misconception on what lag actually is, with some gamers relating it to a drop in frames per second and others more concerned with actions being carried out by the game in a late fashion after input.

Fortunately, there are ways to address both forms of lag in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.

    Check The Minecraft Server Connection

As Minecraft is a game that lets you connect to custom-built servers, these servers can quickly become overwhelmed. This is especially true if they have a higher player count.

If this is the case, it might be best to find a different server to play on. If the problems are server-side, there isnt much you can do directly to fix it, aside from altering the owner to the issues.

Best Minecraft Settings For No Lag

How To Make MineCraft Not Lag

The main setting in Minecraft that will cause lag is render distance. Plays should turn their render distance down if they experience frequent lag. The default render distance setting is 12 chunks, but the game can easily be just as functional when set to anything less than that.

This may hinder long distance vision slightly, but by lowering the render distance, Minecraft players should be able to then turn up their framerate and be met with much less lag while playing.

There are other minor changes that can go a long way in terms of lag reduction. This includes turning off minor animations that arent always necessary like clouds, entity shadows, and bobbing.

Minecraft players can turn particles to minimal as well, and smooth lighting can be turned off or set to minimum. As far as the graphics settings are concerned, players should set them to something less than fancy for an optimal frame rate.

The popular OptiFine mod also helps run Minecraft much faster than normal. OptiFine can be easily downloaded into Minecraft Java Edition, and players will be able to experience Minecraft in a whole new way, even adding shaders or texture packs if preferred.

Plus, with Optifine, players wont have to sacrifice some of the graphic settings mentioned earlier because the mod works to make the game run smoother overall.

Those with lower-end PCs may need to change more video settings than others in order to avoid lag.

    Change The Difficulty Settings

Playing the game with the difficulty level set on high can make Minecraft slow. You can set the game to your preference of one of four settings between Peaceful and Hard. If the program is set to Hard, youll notice more mobs and zombies that spawn yet more zombies when attacked by players.

At the level set to Hard, a higher number of pixels will need to render, and your Mac will need much more GPU horsepower to load the game smoothly. Once you change the difficulty settings within the game, hostile mobs will be removed, your players health will be restored faster, and the game should become less sluggish.

Use the following steps to adjust the difficulty settings using the Minecraft server control panel, Multicraft:

  • In the Multicraft panel, choose Config Files.
  • Select Server Settings.
  • Under the Difficulty option, choose your preferred difficulty level from the dropdown menu.

Set Render Distance To 6 Chunks

After youve turned off Render Clouds, Beautiful Skies, Smooth Lighting, and Fancy Graphics, scroll down your video settings.

At the bottom of your video settings, youll see a Render Distance slider.

The slider allows you to configure the render distance of the game.

The render distance is responsible for the number of chunks that are visible from a distance.

Any chunk further that your render distance will be faded by a fog.

The higher the render distance, the more the lag.

On the other hand, the lower the render distance, the lower the lag.

In technical terms, the lower the render distance, the higher the frames per second .

Hence, you need to reduce the render distance.

Set the render distance to 6 chunks as it is the lowest.

Then, exit the settings and start playing the game.

This time, Minecraft PE should run much smoother with little to no lag.

The only problem here is that GLSL uses real time shadows, unlike other games, so this makes shaders mod as complex as other games, especially with features like bump/specular mapping, with bloom, and other future effects . Also, I highly doubt shaders work on consoles, as their hardware isnt all great.

    Reducing Frame Rate Lag

Frame rate lag is typically experienced during single-player, a sign that your system is having trouble keeping up with the game. Whatever platform youre playing onPC, console, smart devicesall have limited resources. Frame rate lag on consoles isnt as common, but it still happens. Build a city large enough and watch frames plummet into the teens or even single digits. By tweaking in-game graphic settings, frame rate can be improved and ultimately reduce lag.

Start by opening the in-game menu and choose Settings. Lets touch on Graphics first. If theyre set to Fancy, switch it over to Fast. Follow that up by turning off Smooth Lighting or at least Minimum.

Altering Use VSync is up for debate. Turning it on limits frames per second to your monitors refresh rate, which reduces screen tearing. Thats nice and all, but on older hardware you could experience input lag. Its best to leave it off for now.

Mipmap Levels smooths out distant textures and jagged edges. It can be left at four or switch to two, but only if youre using Minecrafts original textures. A high-resolution texture pack smoothed out even further by the games mipmap levels can put a strain on your GPU. In that case, disabling it is the better option.
