Setblock Command In Minecraft Windows 10 Edition

How to Use Commands in Minecraft

In Minecraft Windows 10 Edition, the syntax to replace a block with another block is:

/setblock < position> < tileName>

Definitions

  • position is the x y z coordinate for the block to replace.
  • tileName is name of the replacement block.
  • tileData is optional. It is the data value for the replacement block. It identifies the variation of the block if more than one type exists for that tileName.
  • replace is optional. It tells the command to replace the block, including air. This is the default behavior.
  • keep is optional. It tells the command to replace the block if the block was air.
  • destroy is optional. It tells the command to replace the block, including air. The old block will be dropped and can then be collected as if it was mined with a pickaxe or shovel.

How To Set Up A Command Block

Once your Command Block is placed, theres a couple settings youll see when you interact with it.

Choosing between Impulse, Current or Repeat, and Chain will decide when your Command Block activates.

Impulse will make the command run once and stop.

Current or Repeat will make the command repeat consistently while powered.

Chain will make it so the block will only run after the connecting Command Block runs, allowing players to set up more complex systems.

A Command Block set at Unconditional will run no matter if the previous Command Block ran successfully. Conditional makes it so itll only run if the previous Command Block ran.

You can also set your Command Block up to be powered by Redstone. Selecting Needs Redstone will make it only activate if the block has Redstone. Selecting Always Active makes the command run regardless.

Whatever command you want set up goes into the Command Input section. You can use it to kill enemies if you dont like a particular one or other things. Minecraft commands can be a little complicated at times, especially when using it in Command Blocks, but you can check out a list of commonly used commands here so you dont have to do the heavy lifting yourself.

How Do You Program A Command Block To Build A House

    How To Enable Cheats

Enabling cheats on a new Minecraft: Pocket Edition world is easy. When creating your Suvival world, scroll down to the Cheats header and move the slider to the right, which will turn the slider green. You can also enable cheats for an existing world by tapping the pencil icon to the right of your worlds name in the Worlds menu. Its important to note that cheats are automatically enabled when creating a Creative world.

Enabling cheats will trigger a pop-up warning you that Xbox Live achievements will be disabled once cheats are activated. Upon doing so, cheats will be activated and Xbox Live achievements will be permanently disabled for that world, even if you toggle the slider back to off before actually creating the World. Youll see a message at the very top of the Game Settings menu notifying you that achievements have been disabled for the world. You can also disable and re-enable cheats in an already created world within the Edit World menu, but doing so still does not re-enable the earning of Xbox Live achievements.
