Minecraft is a game thats plenty of fun by yourself, but even more fun with others. You can mine together, fight together, and build together, or, if you enjoy a little competition, you can challenge others to combat in PVP forums, battling for the spot of Minecraft PVP Royalty. Of course, none of this is possible if you dont know how to play with friends – in which case, this tutorial has you covered.

There are many avenues to playing with friends. You can find a server you both like and hop on at the same time. If you have the financial means to, you can pay for a realm and add your friends via their usernames. And of course, there is always the underappreciated lan party method. This tutorial, however, is going to show you a quick and easy way to make your own Minecraft server for your friends to join – for free!

  • There are multiple sites that will host Minecraft servers for you, but GuideRealm recommends Minehut, so thats the one well talk about today.
  • Firstly, go to Minehut on your web browser.
  • Make an account with a valid email address. You will be asked to verify your email.
  • Once youve verified your email, Minehut will ask you to name your new Minecraft server. It will have to be a unique server name, so you may have to experiment a little before you find one that works.

When you first create your server whether on GameTeam or your local machine, it automatically starts as a survival game. You could change that to creative or something else by editing your server.properties file of your Minecraft install. If youre playing over LAN, the person creating the world decides the game mode from the menu.

    Choosing The Right Version

There are currently two different versions of Minecraft available, the original Java Edition, available on PC, and the Bedrock Edition, available on PC, consoles, and mobile. Both receive regular updates and maintain feature and content parity.

Minecraft Java Edition is the original and, purportedly, the best version. It requires the Java runtime environment to be installed. Thankfully, this is available for free on most modern computers running Windows and Linux, or MacOS. Java Edition users have the greatest choice for multiplayer and can access vanilla and modded multiplayer servers.

Minecraft Bedrock Edition is a newer implementation that replaced the fragmented non-PC releases found on previous generation consoles. It delivers on its promise of unifying gamers through cross-platform compatibility and multiplayer. There is a marketplace that sells player skins and various items for use in-game. Online multiplayer is through direct connection or using official servers known as Realms. There are also some additional features not found in Java Edition, but more on this later. PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live membership may be required to access some online elements.

How To Join A Minecraft Server

How To Play Minecraft With Friends / Minecraft Party Time with Friends ...
  • Verify the server is set up and running. Verification for this can be achieved by having the server host look at their server.jar file after its opened. It should show something like this:
  • Alternatively, the host can verify by logging into Minecraft then navigating to the Multiplayer option and look for a green signal bar next to their server showing an active connection. If you see a red X and error message then it means the server is not running.

  • Ensure that both players are using the same version of Minecraft
  • Log into Minecraft with your username and password
  • Click the Multiplayer option
  • Click Add Server
  • Type in a server name
  • Note: the server name can be anything you want and does not have to match what your friend named their server
  • Type in the Server Address. If your internet provider gave you a reserved IP address then use that. If not, use your friends IP address from where the server is being hosted.

Where Can I Download Minecraft For Windows 10

If you wanted the Java version of Minecraft in the past, you may have had to get the Minecraft launcher from their website.

However, all you need to do now is go to their website. There, you get the latest version of both Java and Bedrock, under the same purchase. You can choose to install whichever one you want, so you no longer need to download variants like in the past.

    Playing The Regular St`oryline

One of the most basic ways to play multiplayer Minecraft is by teaming up with a friend and completing the main storyline. When people spawn in a new world, they are completely alone in their adventure. This can be quite boring at times, like mining for ores, defeating tough, hostile mobs, etc.

Hence, gamers can team up on a multiplayer server and try to defeat the title together. This can be much more fun compared to playing alone in the vast sandbox world.

Useful Tips For Ftb Stoneblock 3

    • If you find a chicken, you can hit it with a stick to start a fight. Itll be a difficult battle, but once you beat it youll be rewarded with an unbreakable hammer called the Chicken Stick that is as strong as diamonds. This item is a homage to angry chickens from the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. If angered in Legend of Zelda, the chickens would become so angry and powerful that they could kill Link almost instantly.
    • During the early game, players should build mob farms as soon as possible to earn loot bags. Loot bags come in five tiers: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. With each rarity, the loot bags will contain better and better loot with everything from diamonds to iron tools, books, and even horse armor.
    • Bonsai trees are a great early food source. You can use them to collect apples and cook them to get baked apples. Additionally, quest loot bags will reward players with plenty of food such as Epic Bacon.

What Are The Differences Between Minecraft Java Edition And Bedrock Edition

I think it is important to know the differences between Minecraft Java Edition and Bedrock Edition, especially as switching to Bedrock on Windows 10 will open you up to cross-platform play. This is one of the best reasons to go for it.

Below are some features that make Minecraft Java a different game:

    • Minecraft Java is only available for computers.
    • Multiplayer is only supported by Java Edition, which means there is no cross-platform with game consoles like the Nintendo Switch, Xbox, or Playstation.
    • Java allows you to download and make your own custom skins to use in the game.
    • Java also supports mods made by the community.
    • Minecraft Java requires a PC with slightly better specifications.

Here are some of the things which make Bedrock unique:

    • This version of Minecraft is available for Windows 10 and 11, Mac, Linux, Xbox, and other consoles.
    • Supports play across platforms with anyone else who has the Bedrock version of the game.
    • Doesn’t support custom skins, but has a marketplace where skin packs can be bought.
    • Better optimized and requires fewer resources to run smoothly.
    • It has support for a controller out of the box.
    • Since Minecraft was purchased by Microsoft, you will require an Xbox Live account to play the game.
    • Another advantage of Minecraft being owned by Microsoft means that the online experience is better for younger players as there is better moderation and parents can choose to put parental controls in place.

Players Connect To A Home Or Local Network

In this instance, players are connected to the same internet network, either via ethernet cable or connected to the same Wi-Fi address. To play together on this network, one player must choose to be the host. Their computer should be fast enough to play Minecraft and host a multiplayer server, so not all devices are suitable.

The host launches Minecraft and creates or opens a single-player world. Once inside the world, press the ESC button and click Open to LAN.

Here you can choose the game settings, such as player gamemode and cheats, etc. Once youve settled on your options, click Start LAN world and a message will pop up telling you that a local game is being hosted.

The other players can now open Minecraft and click Multiplayer A few moments later, the computer should detect the local game and ask if theyd like to join it.

    Pros/cons Of Minecraft Server

Want to play together with VTuber? Better practice on these games ...

Hosting a server yourself gives you a handful of benefits such as complete control without relying on someone else when you need to make changes, the ability to use your own hardware to increase performance as desired, and not having to pay someone else to do it for you! You can configure your server however you like and there is no limit on what type of mods you can support.

Its drawbacks consist of needing the hardware to run the server which can get very expensive if you dont already own it. It might open you up to cybersecurity risks by allowing someone to access your network. Its also nearly impossible to host your own Bedrock server at this time, so realistically speaking, its only available for Minecraft Java Edition. However, if youre paying another company to host the server for you then getting a Bedrock edition shouldnt be an issue. Finally, setting up the server is more technically advanced than any of the other options that Minecraft offers for multiplayer.
