You can use a compass to point you to your worlds spawn point. This is the spot that you spawn at when you first create a world. You can use /setworldspawn if you want to change your world spawn point and have commands enabled. However, the compass will not point you to your bed if you sleep in a bed and change your spawn point. It will also not work when you are in the Nether or the End.
The compass will also point to lodestones that you have placed in your world. Playing Java Edition, your lodestone compass will glow like an enchanted weapon, armor piece, book or apple. If you are playing Bedrock edition, your lodestone compass will turn cyan.

The lodestone is a special item that can be used as the homing point for your compass in Minecraft. If you’re lucky, you can find a Bastion Remnant Bridge Chest. It has a 100% chance of spawning a lodestone. In case Lady Luck isn’t on your side, you can always craft the lodestone yourself.
In order to make one lodestone in Minecraft, you will have to gather the following resources:
- 1 Netherite Ingot
- 8 Chiseled Stone Bricks
The Netherite Ingot is quite tricky to craft. First, you will have to locate an Ancient Debris vein in the Nether realm. It spawns in groups of 1-3 from level 22 to 8 . Remember to bring a Diamond pickaxe to mine the Debris, and you will need four to make 1 Netherite Ingot.
Once you have your debris ready, bring them to the surface and start smelting. Another ingredient required for crafting the Netherite Ingot is the gold ingot. You also need 4 of them, but gold is much easier to get.
After you have gathered all the materials, place them inside the Crafting Table as shown in the picture below.

Echo shards are crafting ingredients that exclusively spawn within the chests of the Ancient cities. So, you first need to visit the ancient cities in the deep dark biome. Then, you have to check all chests there until you collect 8 echo shards.
There is no other way to get echo shards in Minecraft right now. So, make sure you know how to defeat the Warden before embarking on this dangerous adventure. Do keep in mind that the chests from Ancient city are enough to get the best gear even early in the game.
