To make a lightning rod in Minecraft, players will need to stack six copper ingots in a 2×3 column in their build menu. This of course means that Minecraft players will have to look for copper ore to have enough ingots to make their lightning rod.
Similar to the lightning rods themselves, copper is a new addition to Minecraft ore Cave and cliff updates.
Raw copper can be found in orange and green veins from the Y-axis layers to 0 to 96. However, players are advised to look for copper in the middle layers between these two numbers and work through the layers.
Players will need to bring a stone pick or stronger material to harvest the copper ore. However, if the copper vein is located between layers 0 and 16, the copper ore will take the form of a deep copper ore, which is harder to break than usual and may need a faster toad for faster harvesting.
Once the players procure their copper, all they have to do is go back to the furnace and melt the raw copper similar to iron and gold. When the melting is complete, players will prepare their copper ingots for making.
