How To Use Fire Charge In Minecraft

Fire charges in Minecraft are the small fireballs that a ghast will attack players with. Ghasts are not likely to drop fire charges at despawn. However, a player can find it as loot or craft it themselves. The player can then use it in a way similar to flint and steel. They can also be used to craft firework stars that can be turned into fireworks.

A fire charge can replace the flint and steel if need be for lighting things on fire. As a player gets more familiar with this item, achievements can be unlocked and awarded to them through using fire charges.

Here’s how players can use fire charge in Minecraft.

Create A Companion Fireball For Each Snowball

What we really want is to create only one fireball per tagged snowball. The easiest way to do this is to create a fireball, and the to add another tag the snowballlets call it processed. We can change the previous command so that it only operates on snowballs that do not have the processed tag .

In order for all of this to work, we need to execute not one but two commands . This is not really possible in a single execute … run command. What we can do, however, is to call a function :

Functions in data packs are just text files with the mcfunction extension. This is what throw.mcfunction looks like:

Something that is somewhat confusion is that here are two separate things that are referred to as tags in Minecraft. One is the NBT tags , which were used when instantiating the fireball. NBT tags are dictionaries where you can associate custom values to keys. In our case, we associated the key fireball to the value 1b. You can test if an entity has a custom NBT tag by doing this:

A completely different thing is the NBT tag called Tags. This is a list of keywords that can added and removed using the tag command. You can test if an entity has such a tag like this:

The give command can set custom NBT tags to objects in the inventory, but not adding custom tags to the Tags list.

It is important to limit the number of entries to 1 in the target selector, because the command will only work if exactly one entity is found.

What To Do With A Fire Charge

There are both beautiful and dangerous ways to use a Fire Charge in Minecraft. Those looking to live dangerously can use a Fire Charge to ignite fires, which can also be done in a couple ways. Players can use the Fire Charge as a replacement for Flint and Steel. This means using the item on a block will light it on fire, which means it can light TNT and Nether Portals.

On top of that, it can also be fired out of a dispenser. This is similar to a Blaze firing a fireball at a player. If it makes a direct hit on any living entity, it can deal up to nine hearts of damage through both the direct hit plus additional loss of health from the fire. Unlike Ghast Fireballs, these Fire Charges can’t be deflected.

There is a less dangerous method of using Fire Charges, and that is turning them into Fireworks. Combining a Fire Charge with a single piece of gunpowder and a specific-colored dye can turn the charge into a Firework Star. This star can then be placed in a crafting table with a piece of paper and some gunpowder to create a Firework Rocket that can be fired into the sky.

    Giving Snowballs To Players

In Minecraft, players usually obtain new items by crafting. While it is possible to create custom crafting recipes, we will start with a much simple approach. We can simply receive a desired item using the /give command. This can be done using a command block inside the game, or typing the command directly in the chat.

MCStacker is a very handy online tool which allows to easily generate commands. We can use the /give section to give one snowball, which has a custom NBT tag called fireball with value 1:

By all means, this is a normal snowball, which behaves exactly like all of the other ones. The only difference is that we have changed its name in the inventory to Fireball and added some extra bits of information to it. We have also added the custom model data necessary to make this snowball appear as a fire charge, as discussed in the previous section about resource packs.

Normally, Minecraft prevents you from seeing the real name of an object. However, you can press F3 on your keyboard to enable the NBT tooltips.

Minecraft is about two things: mining and crafting. Right now, we gave a player the fireballs using a command. It would be nice if they could be crafted like any other item.

Although some workarounds are possible, they are quite dirty. For instance, the recipe could craft a Knowledge book, which unlocks an achievement which gives the player the fireball. The YouTube channel Timber Forge explains how to do this in the following video.

Top 5 Most Flammable Blocks In Minecraft

How to Make Fire Charges in Minecraft

Some Minecraft players have learned the hard way which blocks are flammable in the game.

Just like in real life, anything made of wood can easily catch fire and burn to a crisp in Minecraft. This can happen if an adjacent block is on fire, or if a block is too close to a lava pool. So, builds made of wood are always at risk of being destroyed at the hands of a mis-clicked flint and steel or fire charge, for example.

Wood isnt the only type of block that is flammable in Minecraft, however. In fact, there are many blocks that are even more flammable than wood blocks.

Here are the top five most flammable blocks in Minecraft that players should keep far away from fires or lava.

    Minecraft ITA ep 75

The Fire Charge in Minecraft is a consumable item that can be used like Flint and Steel, but it can also be an ingredient in creating Fireworks.

Fire Charges in Minecraft function similarly to the well-known Flint and Steel tool, but have other uses beyond lighting fires. While Fire Charges can activate Nether Portals, light Campfires, and prime TNT Blocks, they also can be used as projectile ammunition and an ingredient in creating stunning firework shows. Fire Charges can be obtained in several ways, such as trading with Minecraft Piglins or crafting with rare mob drops. However, keep in mind that Fire Charges will be consumed upon use, unlike Flint and Steel.

Occasionally, Fire Charges will spawn within the loot chests of Ruined Portals, damaged Nether Portals that naturally generate in both the Nether dimension and Overworld. These structures can appear exposed to the air, underneath the surface of the ground, or even within the ocean. Ruined Portals will always spawn with a chest nearby, with a 46.4% chance of containing 1× Fire Charge. If players perchance miss noticing a portal in the Overworld, they can know one is nearby by spotting any conspicuous Netherrack Blocks spawning close by.

How To Obtain The Fire Charge

There are a few different routes players can take to obtain a Fire Charge in Minecraft. But only one method guarantees obtaining it, and that is by crafting it. To do this, players will need to go to the Nether and kill a Blaze. Doing so will drop a Blaze Rod. At a crafting table, the Blaze Rod can be placed and then broken apart into Blaze Powder.

Then, the player will need to obtain coal in the Overworld caves. If they have trouble with this, they can also smelt some wooden logs to create charcoal. Finally, players should get gunpowder from a Creeper or random chest. Placing one Blaze Powder, one coal/charcoal, and one gunpowder into the crafting bench will create three Fire Charges.

There are a few other methods players can try to get a Fire Charge. One is by stumbling upon a Ruined Portal in the Overworld. These appear on a somewhat frequent basis and will almost always have a chest right next to it amongst the Netherrack. Players will have a 46.4% chance of having a Fire Charge spawn in the chest. There is also a chance that players can barter with a Piglin using gold ingots to retrieve a Fire Charge.
