Minecraft‘s Caves and Cliffs update was split into two parts last July’s 1.17 patch and .
As well as bringing new blocks, items, and mobs to the game, Minecraft update 1.18 added large ore veins, and changed ore distribution to compensate for the increased world height.
And that means that if you’re after diamonds to make top tier weapons and armour, you’re going to have to change your tactics.
Minecraft : Best Diamond Level
To put things simply, players that are hunting for diamonds in Minecraft 1.18 should target Y-level -58. For the uninitiated, a fans current Y-level can be checked by pressing F3 or typing /tp ~ ~ ~ into the chat window, and indeed quite a lot of digging is required to reach -58. Lapis will generate most commonly in uniform blobs, as opposed to triangles. There is one triangular formation attempt between centering around level 0, so thats the best level to go mining for Lapis Ore. Then, uniform, buried blobs of Lapis can form anywhere between -64 and 64, so you can come across Lapis while youre mining pretty much anywhere.

With all the massive changes in Minecraft’s ore generation, players can now find Diamonds more easily in 2022, especially on specific levels.
Coming into 2022, the latest updates of Minecraft have significantly changed the levels at which Diamonds and other ore are generated in the world. In the past, Diamond blocks would generally spawn from Y:12 in underground caves and mines. However, they now spawn more frequently and are distributed between Y levels 14 to -63. This massive change allows Minecraft players to find many more Diamond nodes than before. Yet, understanding which elevation levels they most commonly appear at will save fans considerable time in their search.
