Difference In Minecraft Versions: Unable To Play With Friends

HOW TO CHANGE VERSIONS ON MINECRAFT BEDROCK! [Windows 10]

I have been having a problem with playing multiplayer on Minecraft, and I have searched all over for an answer but am unable to find something describing exactly what is happening to me. I am on PC and purchased Minecraft through the Microsoft store. I am able to play Minecraft with players on Xbox and the Switch, which I have linked up with through the Xbox console companion app. Today I tried to play with a friend of mine who is also on PC, but her version of Minecraft is different than mine. In the Microsoft store, my version is “Minecraft for Windows 10”. It is like my version is “newer” than hers the launcher looks different on startup, and my title page has buttons for “Play”, “Settings”, and “Marketplace”. Hers says “Singleplayer”, “Multiplayer”, and “Minecraft Realms”. Both of ours are fully updated and on PC but my game looks completely different. When I search her username under my “Friends” tab it doesn’t come up, so I can’t invite her to play. I’m suspicious the different version has to do with me buying through the Microsoft store and her buying through Minecraft.net years ago. Long story short, are these versions incompatible? I just cannot figure out how to play with her and why our versions are different.

Thank you for any advice!

  • How To Update Minecraft Bedrock On Pc

If you find your Bedrock copy of Minecraft isn’t updating, here’s what to do. Make sure the Minecraft app is closed. Then, open the Microsoft Store on your PC. If youre using Windows 10, you can find it under the Start menu. It may be automatically pinned there, but if not, just scroll until you find it. Apps are organized alphabetically, so look under M.

Once youre there, your options may vary. Navigate to the Minecraft app, or search for it with the search tool. You might see a set of dots … next to the search bar. If so, click that, and choose update.

If not, click the Library option in the bottom left. Then choose Updates and select Minecraft, or just all updates if you want to knock them out in one go.

Thats all you need to do to update Minecraft Bedrock on PC, though you might want to uninstall and reinstall the game to fix whatever problem is interfering with the automatic update.

If you’re playing Minecraft on console, you shouldn’t run into this issue at all. The only way to update it on console is through the game’s automatic update.

As per the fact for running Java edition, you must have a gaming PC, not just you but the people you want to play with online in the multiplayer mode must be owning a robust PC.

Truly speaking, although it is technically a good choice as per the gaming needs yet I dont feel comfortable with this in the java edition.

Thats the reason I prefer bedrock as it let me play on my bad laptop, and most importantly, I can play with friends that are mostly using mobile phones for gaming.

I feel no lags, no limits over matchmaking, and enjoy a buttery-smooth gaming experience.

Before bedrock Minecraft, I used to play java edition.

Of course, I knew about my bad machine that it would not handle the game. I got carried away by the streamers who usually play java edition.

After a half and a month, I got fed up, the reasons were the same.

Firstly I had to experience terrible lags secondly, I cut off the way to play with friends because they all were on different devices.

Thats why I ended up playing the Java edition and bought the Bedrock Windows 10 edition. Im now happier than before.

Do keep in mind that if you want the Bedrock Edition on different platforms, youll have to rebuy it on each console. That said, purchases of add-ons will carry over from other platforms.

How To SAFELY Play OLD Versions Of Minecraft!!!

As a rule, Minecraft is certainly no more taxing in VR than any other game you want to run through your headset. Graphically, until the RTX version at least it has never been overly heavy on the specs for your GPU. The performance hit came hard and fast at the CPU due to the complex amount of math the game uses to generate the world and its biomes.

So if you have a PC capable of running a VR set-up you will be fine to run Minecraft and interact with your world as if you are actually there.

If you want to play Minecraft on an Oculus Quest or Quest 2 headset we have a guide on how to set it up here as there are a couple more hoops to jump through.
