Difference In Minecraft Versions: Unable To Play With Friends
I have been having a problem with playing multiplayer on Minecraft, and I have searched all over for an answer but am unable to find something describing exactly what is happening to me. I am on PC and purchased Minecraft through the Microsoft store. I am able to play Minecraft with players on Xbox and the Switch, which I have linked up with through the Xbox console companion app. Today I tried to play with a friend of mine who is also on PC, but her version of Minecraft is different than mine. In the Microsoft store, my version is “Minecraft for Windows 10”. It is like my version is “newer” than hers the launcher looks different on startup, and my title page has buttons for “Play”, “Settings”, and “Marketplace”. Hers says “Singleplayer”, “Multiplayer”, and “Minecraft Realms”. Both of ours are fully updated and on PC but my game looks completely different. When I search her username under my “Friends” tab it doesn’t come up, so I can’t invite her to play. I’m suspicious the different version has to do with me buying through the Microsoft store and her buying through Minecraft.net years ago. Long story short, are these versions incompatible? I just cannot figure out how to play with her and why our versions are different.
Thank you for any advice!

How To Update Minecraft Bedrock On Pc
If you find your Bedrock copy of Minecraft isn’t updating, here’s what to do. Make sure the Minecraft app is closed. Then, open the Microsoft Store on your PC. If youre using Windows 10, you can find it under the Start menu. It may be automatically pinned there, but if not, just scroll until you find it. Apps are organized alphabetically, so look under M.
Once youre there, your options may vary. Navigate to the Minecraft app, or search for it with the search tool. You might see a set of dots … next to the search bar. If so, click that, and choose update.
If not, click the Library option in the bottom left. Then choose Updates and select Minecraft, or just all updates if you want to knock them out in one go.
Thats all you need to do to update Minecraft Bedrock on PC, though you might want to uninstall and reinstall the game to fix whatever problem is interfering with the automatic update.
If you’re playing Minecraft on console, you shouldn’t run into this issue at all. The only way to update it on console is through the game’s automatic update.

As per the fact for running Java edition, you must have a gaming PC, not just you but the people you want to play with online in the multiplayer mode must be owning a robust PC.
Truly speaking, although it is technically a good choice as per the gaming needs yet I dont feel comfortable with this in the java edition.
Thats the reason I prefer bedrock as it let me play on my bad laptop, and most importantly, I can play with friends that are mostly using mobile phones for gaming.
I feel no lags, no limits over matchmaking, and enjoy a buttery-smooth gaming experience.
Before bedrock Minecraft, I used to play java edition.
Of course, I knew about my bad machine that it would not handle the game. I got carried away by the streamers who usually play java edition.
After a half and a month, I got fed up, the reasons were the same.
Firstly I had to experience terrible lags secondly, I cut off the way to play with friends because they all were on different devices.
Thats why I ended up playing the Java edition and bought the Bedrock Windows 10 edition. Im now happier than before.

Bedrock Is Better For Cross
The Bedrock Edition allows for cross-platform multiplayer on consoles, mobile devices, and Windows 10. The Java Edition is only for PC, and it will only allow you to play with other Java players, which is a lot more limiting.
Do keep in mind that if you want the Bedrock Edition on different platforms, youll have to rebuy it on each console. That said, purchases of add-ons will carry over from other platforms.

Minecraft Vr System Requirements
As a rule, Minecraft is certainly no more taxing in VR than any other game you want to run through your headset. Graphically, until the RTX version at least it has never been overly heavy on the specs for your GPU. The performance hit came hard and fast at the CPU due to the complex amount of math the game uses to generate the world and its biomes.
So if you have a PC capable of running a VR set-up you will be fine to run Minecraft and interact with your world as if you are actually there.
If you want to play Minecraft on an Oculus Quest or Quest 2 headset we have a guide on how to set it up here as there are a couple more hoops to jump through.
- CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz / AMD A10-7800 APU 3.5 GHz or equivalent
- GPU: GeForce 700 Series or AMD Radeon Rx 200 Series with OpenGL 4.5
- RAM: 8 GB
- Storage: SSD and 4GB of free space
- O/S: 64 bit Windows 10 or MacOS Sierra

Bonus Tip: Update Your Drivers
To get a better gaming experience, its recommended to update your drivers. Take graphics card as an example.Graphics card manufacturers like Nvidia, AMD and Intel constantly release new graphics drivers to fix bugs and improve the gaming performance and experience.
If the graphics driver on your PC is outdated or corrupted, you may not be able to enjoy the optimal gaming experience, and sometimes you may run into the Control crash issue.
To prevent and fix issues, youd better update your drivers.
There are two ways you can update your drivers:
Manual driver update You can update your graphics drivers manually by going to the manufacturers website for your graphics card, and searching for the most recent correct driver. Be sure to choose only drivers that are compatible with your Windows version.
Automatic driver update If you dont have the time, patience or computer skills to update your video and monitor drivers manually, you can, instead, do it automatically with Driver Easy.
Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for your exact graphics cards, and your Windows version, and it will download and install them correctly:

Which Minecraft Edition Is Right For Me
Minecraft is the PC hit sandbox title built from the ground up by indie developers at Mojang. In 2014, the studio was acquired by Microsoft. Since then, the game has added plenty of editions and versions for the gamer to divulge in. Minecraft expanded its reach from PC gamers to targeting a broader audience between young to the young only at heart. From your home to your phone to your child’s school to virtual reality and even beyond, Minecraft has become almost hard to avoid in any app store and retailer.
While we all love choices, an oversaturation of Minecraft editions begets the ultimate question: What version is right for me?
Mostly, it boils down to which gaming device you have the most time with. If you’re always busy at home but need something to do on your mobile phone, then Pocket Edition would be perfect for you. On the contrary, you people that are so busy that you never have time to sit down until you’re on the desktop, then you might want to consider the PC or Windows 10 editions. And, of course, those like me that have way too much time on your hands, deciding on which device to purchase Minecraft can become quite the conundrum that can only come by weighing out a meticulous list of pros and cons. But who has time for that? So I did it for you!
