The World Of Minecraft Is Getting Taller With Its Latest Update
Mojang Studios, the developer behind Minecraft, is restructuring the genesis of Minecrafts blocky world, changing how the sandbox game scales for its millions of players.
In a long-awaited update, appropriately entitled Caves and Cliffs, the games engine will begin to form deeper caves, higher mountains for players to explore, and introduce more variations of flora and fauna to encounter. The company announced Wednesday they plan to release the update Nov. 30.
When someone starts a world in Minecraft, the game uses procedural generation to create the forests, rivers, caves and mountains across the map. Over the past 12 years, Minecraft has introduced environments like deserts and oceans for players to explore but the developers at Mojang are now expanding the upper and lower limits of the world in order to generate peaks and valleys that previously were not possible in the game.
More than a 100 million people play Minecraft every month. The blocky, low-fi game is a decentralized collection of servers players can join and build from. Students at UC Berkeley once held a virtual graduation ceremony inside a Minecraft server during the covid-19 pandemic. Players have built and rebuilt the famed Harry Potter castle of Hogwarts, Notre Dame, the Empire State building and even ancient Rome. Its hard to find a well-known building real life or fictional that doesnt exist somewhere on some Minecraft server.
When Does Minecraft 119 Launch
Minecraft 1.19 will launch in 2022, but Mojang hasn’t given a specific date yet. With the second half of the Caves & Cliffs update only recently launching in November 2021, it seems likely that the Wild Update wont arrive until later in 2022. As usual, well likely see early versions of the update in snapshot builds.
Caves And Cliffs Update Features
- Features related to Caves & Cliffs Part II have been moved from the Experimental Toggle and are now enabled by default
- Note: Upon loading your world into this beta, new Caves & Cliffs Part II world generation will automatically be introduced with no default world copy created. You can read more about how new generation will be added below your existing chunks in our FAQ!
- New world generation in Caves and Cliffs Part II is currently incompatible with the ‘Creation of Custom Biomes’ experiment. In this beta, expect worlds with custom biome generation to be potentially unstable and for custom biomes to only exist in currently saved out areas of the world
- Changed ore generation rates to be in parity with Java Edition
- Fixed an issue that prevented large trees from growing below y=0
- Small Dripleaf now properly generates as part of Lush Caves biome

NOTE: Before leaving the Minecraft Beta and uninstalling Minecraft, we recommend you back up your Minecraft worlds.
Minecraft Caves & Cliffs New Blocks
Given the nature of the split update, its easier to just list which blocks are coming and where you can find them. The new Minecraft blocks in 1.17 are:
- Copper ore found underground close to mine shafts
- Dripstone and Pointed Dripstone blocks found in caves
- Amethyst geodes found in caves
- Glow lichen found in caves
- Powdered snow found on mountain tops
- Deepslate found close to bedrock in the underground area
- Moss found in shipwreck chests
- Glow Berries found in mineshaft chests
- Azalea use bone meal on moss for a chance to find it
- Dripleaf plant use bone meal on moss for a chance to find it
Note that you can also find some of these items by trading emeralds with wandering traders. Outside of these new blocks, the new textures for ores will also appear in the Minecraft 1.17 update. They were redesigned due to accessibility issues for colourblind players.

Its become wildly popular over the last year, so much so that Paypal froze Perssons account on suspicions that all the money coming in was part of a scam.

Still, hardcore fans have complained that they want a full release of Minecraft.

New Minecraft Deep Dark Biome
To kick off our round up of Minecraft The Wild update, we’re going deeper underground to look at the Deep Dark Biome. Down there you’ll find ancient cities to explore, which are definitely eerie and have lots of secrets hiding in the shadows. Be brave and adventure into the darkness, as there is unique loot to be found there.
Crystal And Amethyst Geodes
In rare circumstances, caves can lead to Amethyst geodes. Walking on crystals emits a sound effect that sounds like a wind-chime.
You can break the crystal plants, but you cant take the specific blocks that crystals grow on. The puzzle will be working out a network of harvesting the crystals at the source efficiently. Crystals have uses in making items, namely in making the new Telescope, which you can use to zoom in on details from far away.

Minecraft 119 Deep Dark Biome And Wardens
After originally being planned for the 1.18 update, Minecrafts dangerous Warden mob has been delayed to the Wild Update in 2022. The Deep Dark biome wed seen previously has been expanded further also. Mojang did a serious dive into the Deep Dark biome this year and its looking much scarier than before.
What makes the Deep Dark so much spookier now is the Skulk Shrieker blocks which will emit a screech when activated and put a darkness effect on the nearby area. Youll need to get away from that Skulk Shrieker quickly and quietly because that loud noise will likely attract a Warden.
As wed already seen, the Warden mobs are very, very dangerous and will hunt down players by sound. The Shriekers pulsing darkness effect makes the stomping of the giant Warden sound like something out of a horror game. In the new video of the Warden we actually see one tunnel out of the ground through some skulk blocks, which is extremely frightening.
Also new in the Deep Dark are the big ancient city structures that you can find down in the dark. Mojang has hinted that theres a structure at the center of every ancient city that may have its own secrets. Youll also want to pay attention to the Skulk Catalysts. When an enemy dies near one, it will convert nearby blocks on the ground to Skulk Blocks, which you can mine to gather experience.

If you want to explore the swamp, or indeed any other area with plenty of water in Minecraft 1.19, then the new boat with chest could be just what you need. This craft lets you travel around the rivers and lakes with a handy chest onboard, so you can gather up plenty of resources to your heart’s content without worrying about where to store everything.

What To Expect After The Minecraft 119 Update
For most video games, future updates stay as guarded secrets until an official teaser. Fortunately, thats not the case with Minecraft, which constantly implements user demands and suggested changes. The Wild update is the prime example of Mojang improving existing worlds as per users demands.
So, if thats to remain true, 2023 or part two of Wild update can bring us the Minecraft weather update. It will supposedly transform the weather system of Minecraft with biome-based weather, dynamic weather cycle, and more. However, this is mere speculation at this point, and we suggest you take this rumor will a grain of salt.
Minecraft Bedrock Beta Version
To get into the Minecraft beta on Bedrock edition on PC, youll need to follow these steps:
- Go to the Microsoft Store app and search for the Insider app. Its free to download.
- After opening the app, click on the Previews tab. If you own Minecraft Bedrock edition, you should see the Minecraft for Windows 10 beta programme. Click on this and read through the disclaimer.
- After reading the disclaimer, confirm that you understand the terms and conditions and youll automatically download the beta version of Minecraft via the Microsoft Store.
- Open the newly downloaded version of Minecraft and click to start a new game. Youll know you have the correct version if the title screen says beta.
- In the world options, make sure that you scroll down and enable the Caves and Cliffs option to see the new features.
Its highly recommended that with each snapshot, you start a new world. This is so that you can see any new biomes in the world generation, such as the Minecraft Lush Caves.

When will we get a Recommended Build for Minecraft Beta 1.7.3? Why did this update take so long?When Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 came out, most of us on the team were not available at the time to deal with the update, causing the update to take longer than it usually would. As it was a small update, however, we were still eventually able to get a compatible build out for testing and people that like to be on the edge of technology.
Unfortunately, around the same time the update came out, we were having issues with our build process, resulting in a complete halt of development and deployment and causing us to scramble to put together a temporary solution to address the issue in the meantime. While the team was able to do this in a reasonable amount of time, myself and another admin on the team was away out of town on a scheduled absence. This absence resulted in our inability to address any of the issues that came up until I got back Sunday evening, including our lack of communication which Ill explain in more detail later on in this article.
Lastly, since we know that some of you will ask anyway: yes we do have access to the Minecraft source, however we are not able to use the source to update CraftBukkit as their formats are incompatible. Our speedy updates are the result of a lot of experience and fine-tuning the update process we have, not due to having the source.
