Can Java And Windows 10 Play Together

Build your own Minecraft Server for Multiplayer | Windows 10 | NETVN

Theres no doubt about it: Minecraft is a very popular sandbox game. Kids love to mine and build in the game, and many people are wondering if Java and Windows 10 can coexist. The answer is yes, but only in limited circumstances. Heres how Java and Windows 10 can play together. Read on to find out more. Heres a list of benefits and drawbacks of Java and Windows 10 for Minecraft.

Minecraft is available in two editions, a Windows 10 Edition and a Java Edition. Java is different from Windows 10, which means that Java Edition will not cross-play with Windows 10. While Java and Bedrock versions of Minecraft play online, they run on different servers, so they wont work together. Whether you want to play a Java Edition or a Windows 10 version depends on your system specs. In the Java edition, youll be able to play Minecraft without spending any money. The Windows 10 Edition, meanwhile, is completely free and compatible with nearly every PC.

Connecting To Your Minecraft Server

Now that your server is installed, you can connect to it from Minecraft. Launch Minecraft and select Multiplayer.

Click Add Server

Enter server details and click Done. You can obtain the Minecraft server IP address by going to Google and searching whats my IP. You may need to open up access to port 25565 on your router if your friends are unable to connect. Keep in mind that your home IP address may change frequently, so you will need to provide them with the updated connections details when this happens. One of the main advantages of using a cloud server is you always keep the same IP.

Enable Port Forwarding On Your Router

Note: Port forwarding can be a security risk.

If youre just hosting a server for players on your local network, you dont need to worry about port forwarding. If, however, you want to make your server accessible to the world, youll need to enable port forwarding on your router.

Refer to your routers documentation to find specific instructions on how to configure port forwarding for your device. For Minecraft, youll need to forward TCP port 25565.

Youll also need to enter your servers local IP address as the Output IP or Server IP for the forwarded port. This tells the router which device to point at. To find your servers local IP, open a command prompt and enter ipconfig.

Playing On Your Server

Now that you have adjusted everything you probably want to play some Minecraft with your friends. To play you have 3 options.

  • Locally This is if you just want to play alone.
  • Internally This is for you and your friends to play together on the same WIFI.
  • Externally This is for your friends to connect from anywhere in the world.
  • Option 1. Locally: We will start with option 1. In order to connect you are going to open Minecraft and press Multiplayer. Now go to Add Server. For the server name you make it whatever you want. In the server address area you can either type 0 or LocalHost. This will connect you to your server and you are free to play.

Option 2. Internally: So you have some friends over you want to play with. In order for your friends to connect they are going to need your ipv4 address. I personally recommend going to and getting it. You can also get it by opening up cmd and typing in ipconfig. This will also give you it as well as all of your other ip configurations. Once you have this just give it to your friends and have them enter it into the server address field and they should be able to connect.

You can name it anything you want to help you remember which one it is. Click Play if you want to play right away, or click Save and the server will appear in the list of servers when you go to this tab from the Play screen.
