Xbox Live is expanding the way that Minecraft fans can play with one another.
Microsoft is using its online service to bring cross-play to Minecraft between Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone as well as the Oculus-powered Gear VR headset for virtual reality. It is rolling out in a test phase right now for anyone with an Xbox Live account, and it will officially launch later this year. This is the first time that these various platforms have had the option to get into a Minecraft multiplayer server together. Developer Mojang, the team responsible for Minecraft, demonstrated players coming together onstage today at Microsofts Electronic Entertainment Expo lead-in event playing on iOS, console, and Gear VR with no issues.
For a game that has sold 100 million copies, giving people more ways to play may help it find another 100 million customers.
Mojang also revealed that it is introducing Realms for Xbox One, Xbox 360, iOS and Android with the console versions coming next year. The server-subscription program that gives players a persistent world that them and their friends can join even if the owner isnt online previously debuted on PC. Microsoft started testing it on Android earlier this year, and now its rolling it out to the other Pocket Edition versions of the game.

I bought Minecraft for my cell phone and now wanted to know whether I can download it for free on my PC because someone said to me that it was possible.
If you mean a smartphone with Android by the term “mobile phone”, you can download an Android emulator and use it to play Mobile Minecraft on your PC.
You do NOT get the native Minecraft for free
Even if the Pocket Edition is more and more like the original, there are two different versions. You have to purchase the PC version again.
I have it for IOS and also for Android but the one with the emulator sounds good. Would I have to download it from the Internet right?
Do I have to download it from the internet right?
Yes. I myself use MuMu as an Android emulator, but I’ll throw a few more names into the room: Memu, LDPlayer, Nox, Bluestacks

Minecraft: Bedrock Edition Has Full Crossplay Support Now That Ps4 Has Opted In
Minecraft: Bedrock Edition now supports full crossplay across all platforms, following the imminent arrival of that edition to PlayStation 4. Sony confirmed the news in an announcement today, with the update expected to go live “tomorrow”.
It’s great news for PS4 fans, as until now players on that platform have been limited to playing with other PS4 owners. It’s also noteworthy for the fact that Minecraft is now a Microsoft property. With the PS4 and Xbox platforms constantly at war over marketshare, it demonstrates that an up-to-date Minecraft is important to both stakeholders. What next, Masterchief skins in The Last of Us: Part 2? .
Of course, this crossplay functionality only applies to the Bedrock Edition, ie, the edition available on the Microsoft Store. If you’re still using Java Edition – which, if you’re into modding, you probably are – then you’ll still be restricted to playing with other PC users of that version.
While Sony has long supported crossplay between PC and PS4, it’s been a bit reluctant to roll out the functionality to other consoles. But that apparently changed in October, with SIE CEO Jim Ryan implying that crossplay is now A-OK.
Setting Up Minecraft Cross
Preparing cross-play on Xbox One is straightforward, thanks to relaxed content restrictions compared to other platforms. And with direct Xbox Live integration on the console, you’ll be ready to go after installing the game. Xbox One users should ensure “Minecraft” is used, rather than the incompatible “Minecraft: Xbox One Edition.”
After completing the above steps, your Xbox One is primed for Minecraft cross-play with other systems.

How To Use Minecraft Cross
Minecraft now spans millions of devices, unified via cross-platform multiplayer attributed to its shared “Bedrock” engine. The unification breaks long-established barriers between platforms, including home console rivals, the Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Here’s how to get started with cross-play for Minecraft today.

Minecraft On Ios Gaining Cross
This summer, Minecraft: Pocket Edition on iOS will gain a free update that plans to introduce cross-platform play between most devices that the popular survival crafting game is available on, including iOS and Android smartphones, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Windows 10 PC, and VR. So if you’re playing on iPhone or iPad, you can still join in with a friend who only owns the game on Xbox One or PC.
Game developer Mojang said that it has always wanted to introduce a cross-platform feature, and promised that the new “Better Together Update” will bring a more consistent and unified version of Minecraft. This unification will extend into the game’s subtitles, which are being nixed going forward, with Mojang explaining that Minecraft on iOS, Android, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the VR version, will all simply be called “Minecraft.”
A game all about teamwork, building together and creating communities shouldn’t be restricted to one device, which is why our Better Together Update introduces cross-platform play, breaking down the barriers and letting people play the same complete Minecraft with each other across devices! We’ve wanted to integrate cross-platform for ages, essentially making a version of Minecraft that’s consistent no matter what device you’re choosing to play on.

What Is Minecraft Cross
Minecraft cross-platform play or crossplay links up to eight players of the game from anywhere in the world. Moreover, it is possible on the Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch consoles, PCs, as well as Android and iOS devices. It does not matter if you or your friends are on different platforms and networks.
In a nutshell, Minecraft cross-platform support can be enabled when one player acts as the game host. A host is the one who opens up an online play session. The rest of the participants have to be invited to join the session. Whats great about crossplay is that hosting and joining can be done from within the game, as long as you have everything that is needed for it to be set.

The quickest way to do this is to press the Windows Key on your keyboard, then click on the Microsoft App Store in the Explore section.
Once you open it up, use the search bar on the top right to search for Minecraft. Since there are several Minecraft games in the franchise, you will see several options listed here. You are looking for the one titled Minecraft for Windows 10.

Nifty Minecraft Update Adds Windows 10 And Pocket Edition Cross
For up to five friends.
Mojang has released an update to Minecraft that lets Windows 10 and Pocket Edition players play together.
Patch 0.12.1 lets Windows 10 Edition Beta players play with those who play Minecraft on a phone or tablet.
“One of our long-term goals for Minecraft is to bring our community closer, and give as many players as possible a chance to play together,” Mojang said. “This is a small step towards that goal.”
Getting cross-platform play going is pretty simple – if you’re on the same network. Enable “Local Server Multiplayer” on the options screen, and available games will show up in the Play menu. Up to five friends can play cross-platform multiplayer on a local network between Pocket Edition and Windows 10 Edition Beta. The Windows 10 Edition Beta also lets up to five friends player together over Xbox Live.
Things get trickier if you’re not on the same network, however. You can play with friends online, but you’ll have to access your router and get stuck in with the murky world of port forwarding.
In short: click Play, then New, then the plus-sign-arrow in the corner, and add the name and IP address of the server you want to join.
“Online play is something of a work in progress,” Mojang said.
Meanwhile, patch 0.12.1 makes significant changes to Pocket Edition. There’s improved touch controls, controller support and the controller mapping screen.
