How To Allocate More Ram To Minecraft

Minecraft (Switch) Review

To change how much RAM Minecraft can use, youll have to change the settings of your Minecraft Launcher app. The launcher app is the program you use to launch Minecraft.

There are several different launcher apps you might use, depending on what sort of mods you have installed. Well go through three of the most popular ones, starting with the standard vanilla launcher that most people use.

Quick tip:

Just be careful not to take more RAM than your computer actually has available. Youll want to leave at least half the RAM available for the rest of your computer to use.

How To Invite Friends To Your Minecraft Realms

The good news is that friends that you want to invite to your Realm don’t need to have the subscription to join and play with you.

To invite friends to your Realm, click the Edit button next to your Realm world, then select ‘Members’. You should see a list of friends that you have already invited and you’ll have the option to invite more. It seems that the number of invites you can send out is almost limitless but the people that can play on your Realm simultaneously will be limited by your subscription type so either two or ten players at a time.

This is also where you’ll be able to ‘uninvite’ players if they’ve outstayed their welcome or haven’t been active for a while.

Minecraft Dungeons: Hidden Depths

Dive into your next adventure with the new Minecraft Dungeons: Hidden Depths DLC! A shard from the Orb of Dominance carried on a dark current now awakens creatures that have long slumbered beneath the waves. It’s up to you to free the tides from the undertow of corruption. Legions of sunken and drowned enemies lurk among the lost treasures, so you must remain vigilant under pressure. The ocean’s natural beauty can distract from the dangers of the deep, but new weapons, gear, and artifacts will make everything go swimmingly.

– A mix of salty new mobs and enemies

– New weapons, gear, and artifacts

– Two new skins and a baby turtle pet

Switch Switch Lite And Their Games

Nintendo has stated that both the Switch and the Switch Lite will use the same physical game cartridges. As long as a game is playable in handheld mode, it will be compatible with the new handheld console. If you already have Minecraft on your Switch, you will be able to use it on your new Switch Lite as well.

Nintendo has no intention to make exclusive games for either the Switch or Switch Lite. This becomes apparent when you realize you can transfer not just your physical copies but also digital as well. According to the support page, “software purchased for download can be played on either console as long as the console is linked to the same Nintendo account.”

What does this mean? Yes, you can play Minecraft on your Switch Lite, and your Switch, and you can seamlessly swap between the two if you’d like! For more detailed information about transferring saved game data Nintendo has a helpful support page on the matter.

How To Set Up Minecraft Realms

Minecraft Switch Edition Review

If you want to start from scratch and create a new world in Realms, go ahead and start setting up the world as you want it, with difficulty, mode , along with any other customisations you want to add. Once you’re happy with your settings, you should look for the ‘Create on Realms’ button, just to the right of the default ‘Create’ option. You’ll then be given the option of a 10-player Realm or a 2-player Realm. Once you’ve accepted the Terms and Conditions and finalised the transaction, you’ll be able to access your new Realm and Marketplace goodies if you selected the 10-player option straight away.

Minecraft Realms is charged on a month-to-month basis so if you find that you and your friends don’t get as much use out of it as you’d hoped, you can cancel at any time by visiting the subscription section of Microsoft’s website.

So in a way, it was fate that the Nintendo Switch version would go on to sell a million. The Wii U version sold about 340k units. Following that is the 2006 Xbox 360 JRPG Blue Dragon, at a little over 200k units. Their fourth best selling game is the 2010 Xbox 360 sports game Kinect Adventures! at around 154k. Minecraft for Switch – Is it worth it?

You can connect up to four players in local multiplayer mode, but Minecraft is a fairly complex game, requiring a lot of buttons and controls. So on the Switch, each player must use both the left and right Joy-Con controllers to play. You can’t split the Joy-Con into two and share it with your friend in horizontal mode.

Luckily, Joy-Con controllers are much easier to find than the Switch itself.

    Minecraft Revenue And Usage Statistics

Minecraft has cemented its place as one of the few games to continue to grow in users a decade after its original release. While most video games have a shelf-life of less than two years, Mojang Studios seem to be capable of drawing gamers back in time and time again.

Launched in 2009 by Markus Notch Persson, a game developer who had previously worked for King, Minecraft received lots of attention even before its official launch. The alpha and beta, available for PC users, lasted two years, which consisted of Mojang fine-tuning aspects of the game for official release.

At the official launch, Notch handed over creative control to Jens Bergensten, a title he has kept since 2011. As millions flocked to this new game, Mojang continued to add new elements to the base experience, enabling more complex creations by its users.

In 2014, rumours of a potential Mojang IPO led to Microsoft acquiring the studio for $2.5 billion. At the time, Microsoft was not as large of a gaming publisher and it wasnt clear what Microsofts plans were for the game. It has since gone on to acquire several game studios, including Double Fine Production, Compulsion Games, Bethesda Studios and Obsidian Entertainment.

Between 2016 and 2017, Telltale Games launched Minecraft: Story Mode, which was the first attempt to stretch the IP beyond the sandbox experience. In 2020, Mojang would follow up Telltale with its own expansion, Minecraft Dungeons, a dungeon-crawler available on consoles and PC.

Minecraft Dungeons Switch Eshop File Size Revealed

Minecraft is a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch

Next week sees the release of MInecraft Dungeons on the Switch and multiple other platforms such as Xbox Game Pass. If you’re as excited as we are about it, then you might be eager to know how much space it’ll take up on your hybrid system.

According to Nintendo’s official website, it’ll require 3.2 GB of free space when it arrives on 26th May. However, the Switch eShop in both the US and UK list the file size as 3.6 GB – so it’s likely this big. That’s a lot more than the actual Minecraft, which only takes up 463 MB. It also happens to be larger than the Xbox One and PC file size of Minecraft Dungeons – listed as 2.54 GB on the Microsoft Store. In terms of the price, the Switch version will set you back $19.99 / £16.74.

If you haven’t seen our previous story, this dungeon spin-off allows up to four friends to team up locally or online, but will not include random matchmaking. Mojang is also looking forward to adding cross-platform play in a future update.

Will you be trying this out on the Switch next week? Tell us in the comments.

Minecraft Dungeons Nintendo Switch Review – Is It Worth It?

The reports that Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition is the best version of the game are greatly exaggerated. Mark Twain aka Jed Whitaker

No, really. People are acting like it is the best thing since sliced bread when it reality it is just week old bread: still tasty, still functional, and still the thing you love. Just, ya know, it would be better fresh, or in this case on PC and basically every other console. Also, this bread costs $10 more than anywhere else because the baker dropped some food coloring into the dough to make some of the bread look like Super Mario Bros. characters.

BUTBUTBUTMUH PORTABLE! I know what youre saying, but currently, the Nintendo Switch has Xbox One syndrome with all of its ports, meaning they all run lower resolution and often times have issues keeping a stable framerate. Minecraft is no exception.

Alright, so lets break this down. First the good: it is Minecraft that you can play on the go, even with two players via split screen with a plethora of options dedicated to how the screen and HUD are displayed in multiplayer. That will probably be enough of a selling point for most of you, but wait, theres more! Touchscreen support is included for quickly selecting options and inventories if youre the brave type that isnt worried about scratching your delicate Switch screen, pending your dock hasnt already done so for you.

Is Minecraft Dungeons Worth Playing On Nintendo Switch

Minecraft Dungeons is a fun game, with an accessible approach to the ARPG format. The game is available on virtually every platform, including Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. We’ve mostly been playing the game on Xbox and PC as we pick through all of the game’s details for our coverage, and thought we’d try out the Nintendo Switch version on the side.

How does it stack up? Let’s take a look.

Minecraft World Building On Switch Is Actually Bigger Than Wii U

According to Arstechnica, Minecraft worlds can be way larger than their Wii U counterparts.

In addition, you’re getting a lot more Minecraft to play than on the Wii U version. Each generated Switch world can be as big as 3072 x 3072 blocks, which is roughly 13 times larger than the Wii U’s pokey 864 x 864 world limit. That’s a bit more than a third the size of the PS4 and Xbox One versions’ 5120 x 5120 limitswhich, honestly, seems about right when comparing those systems’ specs.
