When Is The Release Date For Minecraft With Rtx
If you came here seeking a definitive day that you can mark on your calendars, you might walk away disappointed. Mojang and NVIDIA haven’t given an exact date for the release of Minecraft with RTX, only that it’s coming “within the next year.” Considering that ray tracing was officially announced in mid-August 2019, this would put Minecraft with RTX up for a Summer 2020 release date, although that obviously didn’t happen. We did get the beta for Minecraft with RTX within that first year, so it’s possible that’s what NVIDIA and Mojang Studios were referring to. For anything regarding a full release, we’ll have to wait for more information.
There is one bright side though: NVIDIA and Mojang have already announced that this update will be completely free. If you have the setup for it, you’ll be able to reap the benefits of RTX ray tracing the moment it comes out. Yay! Mojang also confirmed that while ray tracing will launch exclusively on Windows 10 PCs, it will eventually come to other platforms that also support the technology.
Additionally, the Render Dragon engine allows Minecraft to do platform-specific updates to improve graphics or performance depending on the device. Even if your device can’t handle ray tracing, you may still notice improvements over time.
There’s more information to be found on NVIDIA’s Q& A post if you want to take a peek.
Java Edition Has Shaders As Alternative
Although the Java Edition does not have Nvidia’s Ray tracing support, there’s an alternative. Java Edition boasts a modification feature. Over the years, players have come up with thousands of mods for the game. Some of them slightly improve the game’s performance, while others completely change the gameplay.
One of these mods is shader packs. Shaders drastically improve the graphics of the game in terms of lighting, shadow, reflections and other details. Fortunately, players will have loads of different shaders to choose from, due to the enormous modding community.
Shaders like Complementary, BSL, SEUS, RedHat, etc., are some of the top shaders to use. Players must first install Sodium or Optifine mod to run these shaders through them. Mods like Sodium and Optifine can also help in improving the FPS.
To conclude, Ray tracing is only meant for Bedrock Edition running on Nvidia RTX graphics card. However, Java Edition has a much better system of shaders that works perfectly with the latest update.

While its annoying for original owners that they cant enjoy Nvidias beta, there are fantastic alternatives available such as stunningly realistic textures by Realism Mats.
Minecraft was recently used by Microsoft to show off the ray tracing capabilities of their next-gen console, and this showcase made the game look and feel completely new and almost unrecognisable. While PC gamers can enjoy the graphical improvements of hard and soft shadows, plus global illumination right now, your machine must meet very specific minimum requirements first.

What Is Ray Tracing
To understand how you can enable ray tracing in Minecraft, you need to understand what ray tracing is first.
Yes, it is a relatively obscure term that not every gamer is aware of, but it affects your gaming life unless your game of choice is Solitaire.
The portrayal of light and shadows in video games has always been sort of problematic, the same with digital sound effects It seems that the most challenging thing in achieving top-notch realism lies within this department. Adjusting Ray Tracing Settings
Unlike in games such as Cyberpunk 2077, theres not much you can adjust to ray tracing settings in Minecraft. The only things you have control over are Ray Tracing Render Distance and Upscaling.
As the name suggests, render distance determines how far into the distance rays are traced. Beyond the render distance you set, ray tracing isnt applied. So distant objects may not be reflected in shiny surfaces close to you. The higher this setting, the more spectacular the graphics will look, especially in outdoor areas lit by the sun.
Eight chunks of distance are the default setting and the minimum. We suggest pushing this up one notch at a time until the game is no longer playable or becomes unstable. Dont worry. You cant break anything. The worst that can happen is that the game crashes, and youll know how far you can push your system.
Upscaling simply means that the game is rendered below your screens native resolution and then scaled up. This is a great way to improve performance, and Minecraft scales well thanks to its chunky nature, so toggle this on if the frame rate is low.
