How To Identify Your Server Address
To get started, you need to identify the address of the server you want to join. If you own a Shockbyte server, you can find your server address on your Multicraft server panel . This will be labeled as “Server Address” as shown in the screenshot below.
In the example above, the server address is 192.168.2.1:12345. Breaking this down, the server IP is the set of numbers before the “:” symbol, and after this are the last five numbers which are the server port.
How To Join Lan In Minecraft
Setting up a LAN server enables you to play with your closest friend using a local network. The latency issues are quite minimal. The majority of LAN servers are private and youre not able to join unless the creator uses port forwarding features. It is a fun way to build a world together with your friends and players can join using the local port.
However, this process can be quite difficult for some players. This is why we will be discussing how you can join LAN in Minecraft to play with your friends.

Multiplayer Minecraft offers an entirely new dimension to play and even several years after release, there are thousands of daily players in the game. This tutorial will show you both how to set up your own Minecraft server and how to find the IP address of your Minecraft server.
Minecraft is an amazing game whether you like to play alone, on devices on a LAN, or multiplayer. For a game that looks so simple on the surface, it has surprising depth and is endlessly engaging. The ability to play on Minecraft servers is a real benefit to those who want an alternative to playing Minecraft alone in their own world. Playing Minecraft with others is a lot of fun, creating, adventuring, and surviving together.
Type Ipconfig /all And Hit Enter
Your IP address will be listed under Ethernet if youre using a wired connection and be listed under IPv4 Address. Leave the CMD window open if you want to set up your own Minecraft server otherwise close it.
You will need to forward ports through your router to your Minecraft server. Youll have to refer to your routers manual for that as each manufacturer does it a different way. You will need to forward TCP port 25565 if you want people to connect over the internet.
To access most routers settings, simply type your IP Address into a browsers address bar. From here, type the username and password to access the settings.

To play with someone on your network, first choose a host computer. This computer must be fast enough to play Minecraft, while running a server for other players as well. Then you start the game and click Single Player and create a new world or open an existing one. Once inside this world, press the Esc key, then click the Open to LAN button. Here you can choose the game mode for other players: Survival is the default Minecraft, with hit points and hunger, the Creative mode allows you to fly and place an infinite amount of blocks, and the Adventure mode is similar to Survival, but players cannot place or destroy blocks. You can also choose to enable or disable cheaters .
Once you have set these options, click Start LAN World, and you will see a message saying that a local game has been hosted. Other players on the same network who wish to join can now start their game, select Multiplayer, and in a few moments their computer should automatically detect the game.

Why Run A Minecraft Server
One of the most frustrating elements of the Minecraft local multiplayer experience is that the original game host has to be active to access previous creations. If there are two parents and two kids playing Minecraft in a household for example, and they spend a few hours one weekend working on a big structure hosted by Kid #2, then anytime anyone wants to work on that world/structure again they need Kid #2 to fire up their game and share it with everyone else by opening it to the LAN. Factor in that each world resides on each separate computer and suddenly it becomes a real hassle for more than one person to work on a given map.
A much more efficient way to go about doing things is to host a stand-alone server on the local network. This way players can come and go as they please without any one person needing to log in and share their world. Even better, you can host a Minecraft server on a machine that isnt well suited for actually playing Minecraft .
Lets take a look at how to setup a basic local Minecraft server both with and without mods.
Connecting To Your Minecraft Server
Now that your server is installed, you can connect to it from Minecraft. Launch Minecraft and select Multiplayer.
Click Add Server
Enter server details and click Done. You can obtain the Minecraft server IP address by going to Google and searching “what’s my IP”. You may need to open up access to port 25565 on your router if your friends are unable to connect. Keep in mind that your home IP address may change frequently, so you will need to provide them with the updated connections details when this happens. One of the main advantages of using a cloud server is you always keep the same IP.
