This can be done with a single door or double doors, but the doors must be open when you place your painting. Next, place your painting over the doorway opening.

If the painting you want is larger than the doorway, you can place the painting to the left of the door and it will cover the doorway. If you want the painting to only cover the door, you’ll need to place it on the door itself by crouching before placing the painting.

Move The New Maps To Your Worlds /data/ Folder

How To Create A Custom Painting

Step 1: Create a Resource Pack

Before you can begin to create your own Painting, you’ll need to create a resource pack. Resource packs allow you to alter textures, sounds, models, and many other aspects of the game.

Navigate to your “resourcepacks” folder within the “.minecraft” folder. Create a new folder and name it whatever you want. For this example, I named mine “Custom_Paintings.” Within this folder, create a text document named “pack.mcmeta.” It is vital that this is labeled correctly with the .mcmeta extension.

In the text document, type out the following exactly:

Where it says “Custom Paintings” you can label this with whatever you named your folder. Open up Minecraft and navigate to your Resource Packs. These can be found by clicking “Options” and then “Resource Packs” as shown below.

Finally. Weve made it to the last step where we need the web browser. At this point the tool will give you a link to download a zip folder of your map files. Click on that to save the file to your computer, and then use a zip extracting tool to extract all of the map files from that zip.

What youll end up with is a folder showing all of the newly generated map files, 12 in total if thats the size of the picture you selected earlier, all numbered based on the total number of maps in your world set in Step 8. Here you can see I have maps number 166 through 177 all ready to go.

How Do You Make A Secret Painting Door

Or just someone who doesnt respect art, I guess. To make a hidden door behind a painting, the first step is to punch a door-shaped hole into a wall. Next, you need to put two signs inside the doorway to hang the painting on. Signs are used as they allow enough room for you to walk through the doorway.

Add Items To Make A Painting

In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3×3 crafting grid. To make a painting, place and in the 3×3 crafting grid.

When making a painting, it is important that the sticks and wool are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. In the first row, there should be 3 sticks. In the second row, there should be 1 stick in the first box, 1 wool in the second box, and 1 stick in the third box. In the third row, there should be 3 sticks. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for a painting.

Now that you have filled the crafting area with the correct pattern, the painting will appear in the box to the right.

Go back to your web browser where you left off after Step 6, and youll see a question waiting for you to answer, How many maps does your world already have?. This field is where you put in that number we got at the beginning. For us, since we saw map_165.dat in our /world/data/ folder, we know that there are 166 maps already created in that world. So, we type in 166.

If your world is brand new and has had no maps created yet, just set it to 0. Once youve typed in the correct number, click the Create file button.

NOTE: If you type in the wrong number here, your picture will not show up in the game and you may even lose previously generated maps. Be careful to type the correct number.

Place The Maps In Game

Thats it! Youve now got your maps ready to be loaded in the game and placed on the wall. Log back into your world and youll see the maps that were in your inventory all look drastically different than before.

Simply place those maps in the item frames that you set up in Step 2, and your new picture will look beautiful on the wall.
