Part 3 Of 3: Expanding The Map

1Understand how expanding works. The first time you make a map, it’s a set size; you can increase the size of the map up to four times , allowing for a more comprehensive map of the world.

You cannot expand a map in the Legacy Console versions of Minecraft. This is the version of Minecraft that was originally released for the Xbox 360/One and the PlayStation 3/4.

As such, maps are aligned by map width minus 64. A level 3 map generated at spawn covers X and Z coordinates from -64 to 959. All maps generated in this area zoom out to the same coordinates, guaranteeing that they are always ‘aligned’ on a map wall.
