How To Make A Crafting Table In Minecraft

This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a crafting table with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

In Minecraft, the crafting table is one of the most important items in your inventory. A crafting table is often called a workbench and is used to make more complex items.

When you start a new Minecraft game, you get a small 2×2 crafting grid that allows you to make very simple items.

Although the 2×2 crafting grid is great when you first get started. You will soon find that it is not big enough to craft more complex items such as tools, weapons, and armor.

To upgrade the crafting area, you need a crafting table. Once you have made a crafting table, your inventory screen will no longer display the initial 2×2 crafting grid, but rather a larger 3×3 crafting grid. The crafting table gives you the 3×3 crafting grid that looks like this:

Let’s explore how to make a crafting table.

Since Paper Mario already exists, a cardboard game seems like the logical progression.

At least the designers at Teague Labs thought so. Utilizing Teagueduino, their open source electronics board, and household objects like a drinking straw, they created a playable, cardboard version of the classic Nintendo game. It features 1980s-style gaming sounds, pipes and Goomba adversaries even a functional reset.

The best part? Developers put the project’s entire source code on the Teagueduino blog for aspiring engineers to build themselves. “DIY Video Game in a Box” is just one of the projects created then shared using the Teagueduino. Teague Labs hopes folks can use it to learn the basics of programming and embedded development, then post their own innovations on the blog.

The “Police Chase the Pacman” sound generator is another good example of Teagueduino helping people indulge their classic videogame desires. It all goes to show there’s never a shortage of awesome Nintendo-inspired craft projects to tackle.

Meet The Modder Who Got Mario 64 Running In Minecraft

Super Mario 64 has come to Minecraft thanks to a remarkably accurate mod.

Programmer and game dev Dylan recently shared a highlight reel of his work-in-progress Mario Minecraft mod. The polygonal plumber we know and love looks oddly natural in the blocky world of Minecraft, but at the same time, it’s absolutely jarring to see Mario move so authentically in a completely different game.

We’ve seen Nintendo characters modded into other games before, and Minecraft has more crossover mods than you could count, but the uncanny collision of a distinctly Nintendo 64-era Mario and Minecraft left us dumbstruck. We simply had to ask Dylan how this mod works under the hood.

“It’s all really possible due to a project that reverse engineered the way Super Mario 64 works, and made the code for that public,” Dylan tells GamesRadar+, pointing to the sm64 and libsm64 projects. “The code basically replicates the game exactly, which means all of Mario’s behaviors are there. People have already used the code to make mods, or to port Super Mario 64 to the PC. I programmed a Minecraft mod to use that code to integrate it within Minecraft.”

“Playing around with it myself showed me there’s a lot of possibilities, but as you mentioned, Nintendo’s strict policy on using their property will prevent me from even sharing the mod,” he says.

Add Items To Make A Crafting Table

In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 2×2 crafting grid. To make a crafting table, place 4 wood planks in the 2×2 crafting grid.

When crafting with wood planks, you can use any kind of wood planks, such as , , , , , , , or planks. In our example, we are using oak wood planks.

When making a crafting table , it is important that the wood planks are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for a crafting table.

However, since we are just starting with a 2×2 crafting grid, all four boxes will be filled with wood planks so the pattern doesn’t matter in this case.

Now that you have filled the crafting area with the correct pattern, the crafting table will appear in the box to the right.

Unfortunately This Mod Will Not Be Released

A modder has put the Super Mario 64 engine inside of Minecraft, creating a playable version of Mario in the game.

@pdxdylan posted on , showing off his work to get the polygonal plumber inside the blocky world of Minecraft. You can see Mario running around multiple biomes, showing off his triple jump, long jump, swimming, climbing, and more moves straight from the classic N64 title.

IGN spoke to Dylan, who says he was inspired to make this project, simply because he knew it was possible, and that it would look a bit funny.

Have you played Minecraft?

“I’ve done other work with Super Mario 64 before on other engines, but the thought of Mario in a completely different game intrigued me, so I decided to do it as a fun project,” Dylan said. “I’ve always been into tinkering with games, figuring out how they work, and making mods for them.”

Dylan says that this project was made possible by the n64decomp community, a group of fans and modders who reverse-engineered Super Mario 64 to decompile the source code. However, due to Nintendo’s history of issuing cease and desist orders for fan projects, Dylan doesn’t have any plans to release the Mario Minecraft mashup.

According to the level’s co-creator, care of Reddit, “We didn’t realize this when we started, but the scale between the interior and exterior of the castle in the original game is… Not quite right. Minecraft Modder Somehow Stuffs Super Mario 64 Into It

I always think I can never be more impressed with all the insanely cool stuff modders do with games these days, but one person managing to stuff Super Mario 64 into Minecraft has proven me wrong.

Programmer, modder and self-professed ‘weird projects’ creator Dylan tweeted out his work-in-progress, and it’s simultaneously spectacular and unintentionally hilarious. The old, blocky Mario model fits super well into Minecraft’s world in a way I’d never considered. Watching him zap around sucker-punching everything in sight doesn’t feel quite as harmonious, but I do appreciate seeing a small Italian plumber attempt to take down an Enderman with his bare hands.

I’m working on a #Minecraft mod that runs the Super Mario 64 engine! It’s very WIP right now but here’s some highlights pic.twitter.com/QCfzl10ip0

Dylan says the mod is using the “genuine Mario64 engine,” thanks to a couple of different projects with the game’s source code. Don’t expect to be able to try it out for yourself anytime soon though, unfortunately. Nintendo’s relationship with fan projects is a rocky one, and Dylan says he “sadly can’t promise a download, either now or in the future,” but promises to “post silly videos” of the mod in action. It’s a shame that we likely won’t be able to give it a go ourselves, but understandable considering how quickly Nintendo would pull the plug.

Super Mario Bros Level 1

How to make Super Mario in Minecraft: Minecraft tutorial.

A Minecraft player on Reddit has recreated the 1-1 level of the classic game Super Mario Bros in pixel-perfect detail, including warp pipe levels.

Players of the legendary sandbox game Minecraft are used to using the game’s expansive customizing features to create the buildings and structures of their wildest dreams, but one Redditor took it further by creating the entire first level of the classic game Super Mario Bros. While the recreation isn’t playable in the same way the real level is, it wins for nostalgia, and for how seamlessly Minecraft’s boxy aesthetic meshes with Super Mario Bros’ pixelated look typical of 80s games.

Super Mario Bros first came onto the scene for the original NES in 1985, and while it was a sequel to the arcade game its massive critical success meant that it was considered the genesis for the hugely profitable and well-known franchise that followed. Its position as a pop culture phenomenon means that it has stood the test of time 35 years after its release, and there is hardly a gamer alive who isn’t at least familiar with it. Similarly, when Minecraft was released, it gained pop culture status for its approachable mechanics and massive versatility while it certainly isn’t the first world builder on the market, it is considered the gold standard of its type. On Reddit in particular, Minecraft players have built a community dedicated to sharing their builds, creations, and recreations, from simple constructs to incredibly detailed monuments.
