How To Use A Premade Multiplayer Server With ‘minecraft Realms’

For a lot of Minecraft players, it’s all about the mods.

However, if non-modded Minecraft is more than enough, or the idea of creating a server is such a headache that you’re willing to pay a small monthly fee, you can opt for “Minecraft Realms.”

“Realms” is a service where Mojang the company that makes “Minecraft” will build and provide you with a server. You don’t have to make it or run it, which is great if you don’t have the time, computer speed, or bandwidth to keep it constantly active.

Here’s how to use “Realms.”

Installing Minecraft Using Tlauncher

Once TLauncher opens up, here is what you need to:

Type in a username, anything will do, this will simply be the name that other players on a server will see you as.

I will use testplayer01 for this demo.

Leave the Accounts checkbox unchecked if you do not have a TLauncher account.

RLCraft is a mod pack that was made for Minecraft version 1.12.2 and those mods require a piece of software called Forge to maintain and run them.

Luckily, TLauncher has a neat trick that makes it so that we do not need to install Forge separately. Heres what you need to do:

Under the drop-down list right next to the username, choose the ForgeOptifine 1.12.2 version and hit Install.

Once its done installing, you should see something like this:

Great! Now, click on Enter the game to start up Minecraft with Forge pre-installed.

This will create some of the preliminary files that we will be modifying later.

Once you reach the Main Menu successfully, you can close the game.

Connecting To The Server

Once the server is up and running click on the connect button to get the address of the server for all players to join.

This shows 2 IP Addresses, heres how they work:

The is a static address that wont change every time you reload the server.

The Dyn IP: is a dynamic address that changes every time you reload the server.

I recommend sharing the static IP with friends as it is more time efficient.

The dynamic IP will be used in case the static IP method fails for some reason.

To join the server, click on Multiplayer in the Main Menu, this will open up a page where you can add new servers and join them

Enter any name you like for your server, this will only determine how it is shown in your personal list of servers and wont affect anything outside your computer.

In the server address bar, enter the static IP that we got earlier and click on Done

Your Aternos hosted server is now added to your list of servers, all you have to do in order to connect is click on it and press Join server.

In case the static IP method doesnt work for you, fear not, simply copy the Dynamic IP and paste it into the Server Address box under the Direct Connect option, and hit Join server

And there you go, you have now spawned in your very own RLCraft server!

I hope you have an amazing time playing the game with your friends, have fun!

Pros/cons Of Split Screen

How to Play Modded Minecraft with Your Friends

Split-screen is warranted for many reasons. It allows you to play with a friend without any internet connection, it offers highly cooperative gameplay by allowing you to know exactly where the other person is and what they are doing, and it provides a shared experience of playing in the same room as your friend. Its also a nice way to get someone interested in playing if they dont own a console or a copy of Minecraft.

However, like many things in life, split-screen has some drawbacks. Many people find sharing a screen with someone else a bad experience. If you are splitting your screen with one other person, the aspect ratio changes, while splitting with four people keeps the aspect ratio, but decreases the size of your view to a quarter of its normal size. Both options can be cumbersome and drop visual quality.

In addition, if youre playing against each other you have no way to prevent the other person from looking at your screen unless you decide to hang a sheet in between both sides of the TV and trust me, weve done that and its not ideal. Its also easy to get distracted, especially with audio. When you inevitably hear the creeper about to blow up is he near you or your friend?

Running a server yourself means you are in charge of everything such as downloading the resources you need, configuring how the server acts and behaves, and using your own hardware. If making and running a server yourself sounds interesting to you then its possible with just a short series of steps.

You will need to download the proper files then set up your server configurations. You will also need to set up port forwarding if you want people to access your server from outside your network . After the networking portion is set up and you edit your server properties as you see fit, you can launch your game. Read our step by step instructions on how to setup your own Minecraft server.

Minecraft For Windows 10/consoles

These platforms offer a handful of official servers. Join one simply by selecting one under the Servers tab.

To add an external server with the Windows 10 version, select Add Server and enter the necessary information.

The Add Servers option is not available on consoles due to platform restrictions.

Option : Play On Another Server

Possibly the easiest of the options available, you can always just play Minecraft with friends on a server somebody else controls.

There are plenty of cool options available if you take this route. Not only that, you generally have to put in the server address and get playing. No complex setup needed!

Servers other people make come in all shapes and sizes. Pretty much all big ones also have at least some plugins there will at least be measures to stop cheaters.

The downside of this option is the lack of control. You can only search and hope you find a server that fits your style.

Parents should also be careful with encouraging their kids to go down this route. Once publically accessible servers get involved, all bets are off.

Servers may have cussing and other strangeness that can surprise the uninitiated. It’s also possible to suddenly lose one’s progress if an admin decides to shutdown the server or there a griefer figures out a way to ruin one’s work.

If you can put up with the occasional nonsense, this option is undoubtedly the simplest for people who want to jump in and play Minecraft.

Pros/cons Of Minecraft Server

How to Play Minecraft Online With Your Friends for Free!

Hosting a server yourself gives you a handful of benefits such as complete control without relying on someone else when you need to make changes, the ability to use your own hardware to increase performance as desired, and not having to pay someone else to do it for you! You can configure your server however you like and there is no limit on what type of mods you can support.

Its drawbacks consist of needing the hardware to run the server which can get very expensive if you dont already own it. It might open you up to cybersecurity risks by allowing someone to access your network. Its also nearly impossible to host your own Bedrock server at this time, so realistically speaking, its only available for Minecraft Java Edition. However, if youre paying another company to host the server for you then getting a Bedrock edition shouldnt be an issue. Finally, setting up the server is more technically advanced than any of the other options that Minecraft offers for multiplayer.

Complete control over server access and configurations Ability to use your own hardware and upgrade as needed Free to host Can support any mods you want Can be very expensive to get started if you dont already have a decent computer to host with You open yourself up to higher cybersecurity risks by allowing people into your network More complicated to set up when compared to alternate multiplayer options

Inviting Other Players To Your ‘realms’ Server

Depending on whether you have a free trial or the higher-tier Realms subscription, you’ll be able to create a world accessible to two players, or up to 10 players. Here’s how to invite one or many friends to your realm:

1. Open Minecraft from the launcher and select “Minecraft Realms” in the main menu.

2. Click the wrench icon, located to the right of your realm name, for the realm configuration screen.

3. Select “Players,” on the top-left side of the “Configure a realm” screen.

4. Enter the Microsoft or Mojang gamertag for the player you want to invite under “Name,” then tap “Invite player.”

All you have to do now is wait for the player to accept the invite, which they’ll be notified about in the main menu next time they launch “Java.”

You can also grant invited players “Operator” status, allowing them access to certain in-game commands. Operators cannot, however, invite or remove players from the realm.

If several PCs are not far from each other and are on the same Wi-Fi or LAN network , then this setting will suit your case.

In the opened window, type ipconfig and press enter. Look for your local IP, which starts with 192.168.*.* , for example, , and copy it.
