Foxes are the newest addition to Minecraft. Along with being the newest, they are also the most energetic mobs in the game. For not even a small instance in the game, youll find them relaxing . They run fast. Jump 4 to 5 blocks high and are difficult to catch. But to maintain so much activeness, they need a significant amount of energy. So, what do Foxes eat to maintain such a great physicality?
Foxes are carnivore animals in Minecraft with an exceptional fondness for sweet berries. They mainly eat other animals such as rabbits, chickens, fish, and baby turtles if found crawling on land. They prey mainly at night and prefer to eat alone.
During night foxes wander in search of food and quickly gobble up any sweet berries they can find. Except that they will chase any small animal such as rabbit, chicken, or turtle crawling on land and fish.
They are sneaky hunters, hiding and killing their prey. Foxes usually roam around villages at night in search of their food. They prefer solitude and thus night time there is no one to disturb them during hunting and eating. Sometimes, they will stroll around water bodies for fish and turtles.
But do foxes prefer to eat from the players? If so, what can you feed foxes in Minecraft?
How To Get Sweet Berries
Sweet berries are one of the rarest sources of food in Minecraft. They are found in Taiga hills, Mountains, snowy biomes.
Sweet berry is like cactus, deals damage to most of the mobs that touches it. It is a substantial source of food and defense for a player. Only foxes, because of their fat furry body, can move among these scrappy bushes, dealing no damage and slowing down their speed.
A player can use sweet berry bushes for their defense and to keep the hostile mobs away.
Besides that, it requires minimum effort to upkeep and consistently produces berries as long as the plant remains intact.
Also, if you have tamed foxes in the game, then these sweet berries bushes are an amazing source of food for your foxes. Foxes love eating them. Sweet berries are also used for breeding foxes, which makes them an excellent food item to have.
Although sweet berries are so useful, their bushes are not found everywhere. They are available in very few biomes in Minecraft. Mostly Taiga biomes that are snowy, mountainous, and have giant Taiga biomes grow sweet berry bushes.
Ive listed the biomes in which sweet berries can be found below:
· Taiga

Locate Foxes In A Taiga Biome
Foxes can be found in wooded biomes like taiga, giant tree taiga, and snow taiga or in villages within these areas. Foxes can be found sleeping in the forest during the day, or looking for a shaded area to rest. They will sometimes head into villages at night where they can occasionally be seen stealing crops that are dropped by the villagers. They are far more active during the late hours, so it’s easier to locate them in the day.
If you don’t mind using Minecraft Commands, then you can use one to help you out. It’s called “/locatebiome” and it will give you the coordinates to the closest biome of the type you are looking to locate. So, in this case, you would put in “/locatebiome minecraft:taiga” and it will tell you the coordinates you’ll need to go.
Taming A Fox In Minecraft

When you finally catch the two foxes, feed them sweet berries. If they are a distance apart from each other, then make away with blocks to join both walls block in which youve caught the two foxes. This brings them together in one place, now again build a wall around them so they wont separate now.
Now, feed a sweet berry to each fox and they will start making a new baby fox for you. Then theyll have a baby fox which will be your tamed fox.
Now the main thing starts from here. The baby fox cant be tamed immediately as he listens to his parents and follows them not you. So you need to grow him up by feeding the Sweet berries until he grows up. Keep feeding the sweet berries, it takes a minute or two and hell become an adult fox.

How To Tame And Breed Foxes By Feeding Them
The same procedure that is mentioned in the above topic can be used to tame the foxes. The breeding and taming procedures are also similar with some discreet steps.
In fact, in Minecraft, you cant tame a fox directly from the wild. Instead, you need to first make two wild foxes breed and then will have to tame the baby they produce.
The baby fox trusts the player since the birth, who bred it. But make sure to tie the leash around him otherwise it will run away with the parents.
Once youve leashed the baby foxes youve helped breed, they become your companion. They will follow you around. Make sure that you can breed two foxes. After taming the two foxes you can breed them on your own. Thatll save the effort of searching for new foxes every time.
Foxes are very useful animals in Minecraft. once they get along with you, they will always stay near and even help you fight the mobs.
Foxes carry items in their mouth. They mostly carry food items and will eat but they can also carry any weapon that theyll use while fighting off the circumstances require.
STEPS TO BREED AND TAME FOXES
Get the sweet berries and a leash.
After acquiring the leash and sweet berries, search for a group of foxes. Now, once you find a foxes group, sneak around until you reach nearby. Moving straight towards will cause them to run away.
Once they get into love mode, wait for a while until the baby is produced. Baby foxes will spawn once the red heart around the two foxes vanishes.

Where To Find Foxes In Minecraft
There are two types of foxes in Minecraft, and they both spawn in different biomes. Red foxes spawn inside Taiga and Giant Tree Taiga biomes, while white foxes spawn inside Snowy Taiga biomes.
Foxes will spawn in groups of 2-4, and each one has a 5% chance of spawning as a baby fox – but remember, none of them will ever be tame or loyal to you because they were all born wild.
Red and white foxes behave in exactly the same manner, and you can breed and tame them in the same way. The only difference is their colour, in much the same way as Axolotls vary in colour but remain functionally identical. If you breed a red fox with a white fox, then there is a 50% chance of the baby fox being either colour.
If you want more variance in the looks of foxes in Minecraft, your best bet is to dress up your world with a new Texture Pack or Shader Pack, or find a suitable Minecraft mod that does the trick for you.

How To Trap A Fox
Before you get to taming a fox, youll want to make sure its trapped somewhere first. Luckily, foxes are nocturnal, so theyll sleep during the day. But just like taming a cat, youll still need to sneak up on them. When youre near two foxes youll want to build a wall around them with any blocks thats at least two blocks high.
If they arent together thats okay, just make sure theyre trapped. Once you have them both trapped, build a path thats two blocks high that leads to the other fox. Let the foxes unite and then trap them both in the same spot. Now that you have them trapped, you can begin to tame a fox.

Find And Capture Two Foxes
First you’ll need to find your wild foxes.
Foxes can be found in the taiga biome and taiga biome only, with the small caveat that they might wander to adjacent biomes. The taiga biome is characterized by its tall, green spruce trees. There’s a few variations of the taiga biome, including snowy taigas that feature white foxes.
An untamed fox is a fickle, skittish creature. You’ll want to search for them during the day, when most of them will be asleep.
The moment you see a curled up, conked-out fox, make sure you start crouching right away. You’ll use the shift key to crouch on a computer, or your controller-specific crouch button if playing on a console.
Now, still crouching, build a pen around the fox to trap it. You can use any block to make your pen, but you’ll want to make the walls tall at least three blocks. This will make sure it can’t escape. You can’t stop crouching until the fox is cordoned in its pen. The moment you uncrouch, a fight-or-flight switch flips in the foxes and they’ll run away.
If you see two foxes near each other, that’s even better trap them both in the same pen.
This is rare, though, so you’ll probably need to find and trap the foxes separately. Once you’ve done this, you’ll need to connect the two traps with a wall of blocks.
Regardless which option you choose, you ultimately want to end up with a fairly tight enclosure to hold the two foxes.
Find Two Foxes To Breed
We’ll first need to find two foxes in Minecraft. It doesn’t matter if you use red foxes or white foxes. Red foxes are often found in the Taiga Biome and white foxes are found in the Snowy Taiga Biome. If you are having trouble finding them you can use a spawn egg or summon a fox.
Tip: Build a fence around the foxes to keep them close together to make the breeding process easier.

How To Spawn A Snow Fox
If you’re in creative mode then you’ve no doubt found that there’s only Fox Eggs available for make foxes in the game. This will typically generate a normal fox, so if you’re looking for the snow variant then you need to do something different! You will need to go to a snow taiga biome and drop the egg there to get one to spawn.
Where To Foxes Spawn
Foxes can be tricky to track down.
They will only be found in taiga biomes. That’s the cold forests that feature spruce trees. They aren’t very common, but do usually spawn in groups of three or four which offsets the rarity.
If there’s no snow you’ll get the red foxes, but if there is snow on the ground you’ll get white arctic foxes.

Lead Around The Tamed Baby Fox
You can now lead around the tamed baby fox. You can do this by simply walking away and the baby fox may follow you or by placing a lead on the fox. Baby foxes are more likely to follow their parents than you, so keep that in mind if you can’t get it to follow you. You will just have to use a lead in that case.
And that’s it! You’ve now successfully bred two foxes and made a tamed baby fox.
