What Does Your Child Think Of Their Amazon Fire
12 months in, my largely undemanding children are becoming fed up with the limitations of Amazon tablets for kids. They’re not hardcore gamersâthey just want to be entertained with something that works.
I’ve identified the major problems we’ve encountered with the Fire Tablet for kids. Of course, it’s not a completely useless deviceâjust not the one for my family.

Excellent Ergonomics For The Best Tablet For Minecraft & Games
The Apple iPad Pro appeals especially to those who want to use their tablet in creative and professional applications.
In the test, it delivers very good results in all categories, especially the display and the performance can hardly be surpassed.
More about that later, first a few words about the look.
The iPad Pro 2020 is reminiscent of Apples iPhones from series X on:
The iconic home button is missing, but the gesture control known from the iPhones as well as the FaceID technology is available.
The display edges are considerably wider than on the iPhones, but the iPad Pro doesnt have a notch at the top edge of the display.
The iPad Pro is housed in a high-quality aluminium case.
There are no sharp edges or corners. Two sizes are available: 11 and 12.9 inches.
The colors are silver and gray. The iPad Pro is available with or without an LTE module and with an internal memory of 64 GByte, 256 GByte, 512 GByte or 1 TByte.
The introductory prices for the smallest version are a lavish 1,000 Dollar and climb up to 2,000 Dollar for the 1 TByte model.
In our test we refer to the variant with LTE and 256 GByte storage space.
It is 280 mm high, 214 mm wide and pleasantly thin with a thickness of 8.3 mm.
Only the protruding camera on the back could disturb the handling.
Online Checks For Games Are Frustrating
This one came as a shock.
On a different trip later in the year, we found that some newly installed games would simply not play. Why not? The error message for one advised that the title’s license was “expired,” and it blocked the game from running entirely.
All that you can do to fix this is connect to the internet, which isn’t exactly easy when you’re driving a car.
In this anecdote, we had two Amazon Fire tablets for our kids, but only one Amazon account. Other titles run on the tablets without any troubleâoften the same game at the same time. Researching the error, I discovered that the problem is often linked to duplicate instances of the same title running, but this is sadly inconsistent.
In short, it’s a lottery whether or not games, books, and audiobooks will run. Whether you’re playing free or paid games, this simply isn’t good enough.

Amazon Fire Hd Kids Edition Tablet
When Apple launched its first iPad in 2010, the thought of handing a £429 device over to a child seemed like crazy talk. Yet thats exactly what happened with that and subsequent tablets.
Fast forward to May 2015, when the UKs communications regulator Ofcom reported that 71% of British 5-15 year-olds had access to a tablet at home, including 34% who had their own one.
In many cases, the latter have been passed down by parents after upgrading to a newer model, but several manufacturers have launched dedicated tablets for children too.
Samsungs Galaxy Tab 3 Kids, LeapFrogs LeapPad range and the Kurio were three examples, while Tescos Hudl tablets were in theory aimed at families, but in practice were often bought by parents for their children.
Amazons Kindle Fire tablets fell into that pattern too, but now is launching a specifically-for-children device: the Fire HD Kids Edition. As the name makes clear, its a rebranded version of the companys existing Fire HD device.
It comes with a rubberised case for extra protection against being dropped or flung across the room by an angry child, with a two-year guarantee to replace the device if it does break.
Amazons existing parental controls help you set limits on your childrens screen time on the tablet, while a built-in subscription plan gives them unlimited access to a catalogue of child-friendly apps, games, ebooks and videos.

Faceid In Any Orientation
On the back of the iPad Pro is a camera with optical image stabilizer and with a resolution of 12 megapixels known from iPhones.
Apples Smart HDR has also made it onto the iPad Pro.
This is supposed to make the pictures more detailed, as several exposure levels are combined to one shot.
On the front is a 7 megapixel front camera.
This allows FaceID to unlock the device via face recognition.
The unlock function works both upright and sideways and is as pleasantly fast and reliable as on the iPhones.
However, simply lifting the iPad is not enough the display must be tapped briefly before using Face ID.
If the camera is inadvertently covered with your finger, iOS sends a message.
New features include a portrait mode with background blur and portrait light.
The latter allows various lighting effects, such as stage light, where the background is displayed in black.
Apples Animoji and Memoji are also available for fun creation of funny characters .
The iPad Pro records video in 4K at up to 60 frames per second.
In comparison, the images from the iPad camera are among the best in the test here Apple is currently only competing with itself.
Chic And Practical: The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 With New S
The Galaxy Tab S6 looks very noble in its aluminium housing in a choice of grey, blue or rosé.
The workmanship is excellent, sharp edges arent noticeable and corners have been pleasantly rounded off.
In addition, the Tab S6 has a very simple haptic appearance with a thickness of 5.7 mm and a weight of 421 grams and thus lies well in the hand.
In 16:10 format, it is easy to use whether with your hands or with the corresponding BLE S-Pen.
The S-Pen functions on the Tab S6 as a writing or drawing instrument for notes as well as a remote control.
With certain gestures you can operate the tablet without touching it.
To do this, you must hold down the button on the S-pen.
For example, you can take photos and videos in the camera app, and you can change the recording mode with a wipe gesture. You can also play music and adjust the volume.
The tablet reacts even if the pen is not held directly in front of the tablet.
Handy for taking notes: Handwritten notes can be exported to formats such as Microsoft Word with just one click. You can also write notes while watching a video, for example.
The S-Pen charges wirelessly on the back of the tablet.
According to Samsung, the 0.35 mAh battery should allow up to 11 hours of battery life after ten minutes of charging. Enough for many hours playing Minecraft on tablet.
For the first time with an integrated fingerprint scanner.

How Do I Play Minecraft On Fire For Kids
After buying the app from the Amazon App Store in the adult profile, switch to the child profile . In each child profile, you need to then look on their home page in the section called Content Added For You . Scroll down until you see that section. Find Minecraft on that list it should be leftmost in the list.
Excellent 120 Hz Display For The Best Tablet For Minecraft & Games
With a screen diagonal of 12.9 inches, the iPad Pro 2020 is one of the largest tablets in the test field and invites you to edit photos or multitask with several apps.
The IPS panel in 4:3 format has a resolution of 2,732 x 2,048 pixels and supports HDR10 and DolbyVision.
A highlight: the refresh rate is, like its predecessor, at an extremely fluid 120 Hertz.
The difference to conventional displays with 60 hertz is particularly noticeable when scrolling through websites or photos here the motion sequences appear much smoother.
A further advantage is revealed in combination with the Apple Pencil, which is available separately: the minimal input delay of around 20 milliseconds is practically imperceptible handwritten text appears immediately on the display.
With up to 642 candelas per square meter , the panel turns out enormously bright and the contrast values in direct and diffuse ambient light are also significantly higher than in other tablets on our best list.
This becomes noticeable, for example, when you work outdoors on the iPad Pro.
Content is easier to read due to strong contrasts.
As far as colors are concerned, there is no reason for criticism.
Both the standard RGB as well as the large DCI-P3 color space are comprehensively covered and pictures are displayed with natural and rich colors.

Many Problems Require A Factory Reset
As it’s building low-spec tablets on a massive scale, Amazon is no doubt aware of its product’s shortcomings its most popular device is basically impossible to use without a jigsaw puzzle approach to installing apps and games.
After all, the company’s most popular response to support issues is to instruct users to initiate a factory reset. Sure, it makes everything fresh again, but it’s a massive pain, especially for children. All their games are gone after the reset, and the progress that they’ve made often disappears, too.
A full reset is the instruction I received after the Wi-Fi on one of our Fires would disconnect of its own accord. Seriously, that’s the fix.
A factory reset is only a temporary solution. As long as the Amazon Fire remains a low-end device, Junior will continue getting frustrated by games that won’t install to the SD card, online checks, low RAM, and a generally sluggish operating system.
Games That Won’t Install To The Sd Card
Because the Fire OS is based on an old version of Android, it struggles with games that run from the SD card. You can’t automatically install them to the expanded storage. You can, however, move them to your microSD card later.
Installing too many games that you can’t put on the SD card is a problem. It means you won’t even be able to download games that you’d otherwise be able to move.
This can often result in you, as a parent, getting involved with uninstalling games, trying to download that one awesome new title, failing, and repeating the process.

What You Can Do In Minecraft
As previously stated, Minecraft has grown exponentially over the years since its launch. You can opt to explore the world and create structures, or you can choose Survival and Hardcore modes to gather resources, fight off monsters, and eke out a life of your own. This includes needing to build a shelter to keep safe from monsters at night, eating food to stay healthy, and mining for treasures and supplies to build additional items for survival.
You can also join others’ servers to join in on roleplaying games, work on customizing enormous creations, and even utilize mods to make Minecraft feel more like your own. There are some mods that can completely change the way Minecraft plays so that it resembles an entirely different game. It’s up to you. The possibilities are nearly endless.
Battery: Strong Performance For The Best Tablet For Minecraft & Games
Our test model lasted 8:41 hours with a capacity of 7,040 mAh in the scroll endurance test at medium brightness .
The S6 tab ran for 12:54 hours in continuous video rendering at medium brightness.
This is roughly on par with its predecessors and should get you through the day without any problems even with intensive use.
In our real usage scenario, in which apps open automatically, pictures are edited and breaks are inserted, the Tab S6 even lasts 14:23 hours.
A loading process takes 2:55 hours. After half an hour, the S6 tab is already 29 percent loaded this is currently the best value we have measured.

Why You Shouldn’t Buy An Amazon Fire Tablet For Your Kids
We recommend avoid buying the Amazon Fire kids’ tablet for your children. Here are some of the issues we had, and what you can get instead.
Do kids like the Amazon Fire tablet? Perhaps you’re thinking about buying one for your family.
If you’ll hear us out, we must respectfully urge you to take a look at the facts. Here’s why you shouldn’t invite an Amazon Fire 7 kids tablet into your home, and why existing owners should move their children onto a real tablet.
Is There A Better Alternative
Minecraft has a pretty strong fan following. Still, you might be looking for other options. You could check out Block Story, which is the perfect blend of Minecraft with an RPG. Youre on a quest to level up the character while using Minecraft-like resources for crafting. However, its still a few bug fixes from being as good as the Pocket Edition.
Crashlands is another good choice! In the game, youre an intergalactic trucker stranded in a strange world. If youre looking for more adventure than Minecraft, you wont be disappointed. Kiloblocks lets you build pixel blocks creatively. Its terrain is easily customizable, and allows you to build all kinds of structures. Unfortunately, the worlds are quite small, and you get bored pretty quickly.

Is The Amazon Fire Tablet For Kids Worth It
Amazon’s Fire 7 tablet and the child-focused Amazon Fire 7 Kids are popular devices for children. Their low price makes them attractive gifts.
Your first impression is likely that this is a competent device that can play games, music, audiobooks, and videos the eight-hour battery is a bit of a bonus, too. However, as time goes on, you’ll find yourself fixing annoying problems with the tablet, checking for solutions online, and regularly turning it off and back on again.
How To Download Minecraft For Amazon Fire
The mobile version of Minecraft can be played on both Fire tablets and Fire TV though the Fire TV version is considerably more expensive. Again, both can be played cross-platform with users on iOS, Android and console versions.
Note that if you have an Amazon Fire for Kids tablet and your child is using the Amazon Fire for Kids software, they won’t be able to download Minecraft themselves. Instead, you’ll have to download it from a parent profile then make the game available to them to download in their profile.

The New Performance Sensation
The Galaxy Tab S6 is equipped with Qualcomms Snapdragon 855 eight-core processor.
The latest model clocks at up to 2.8 GHz. Together with the generous main memory of 6 or 8 GByte RAM, the performance increase over the predecessor is enormous.
As the benchmarks show, Samsungs flagship tablet is the Android device with the best performance. The app loading times are considerably shorter:
Our self-created test PDF opens the Galaxy Tab S6 in only 5 seconds.
For comparison: The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e needed 8 seconds for this and also leaves Huaweis Android tablet competition clearly behind, which shows vs the Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games.
In PC-Mark for Android it reaches 10,203 points, in 3DMark Sling Shot Extreme Unlimited it reaches 6,015 points both are remarkable results.
Only in the graphics benchmark GFXBench it cant keep up with the current iPads with an A12 processor:
Here Apple is almost 70 percent in the lead.
Android 9 Pie is installed.
The security patch was up to date at the time of testing at the end of July of July 1, 2020 so it was very up-to-date.
Kindle Fire Or Kids Version Will It Run Roblox
For a 10 year old boy, which version would be best? Also, can he play Roblox and similar games on there? Im tired of him using my phone for that.
Well it is in the Amazon app store.
I agree with the others that either Fire would be fine. My son plays Roblox on his Fire – though it may be slower depending on what kind of phone you have due to the meager RAM of the tablet.
The “Kids” version comes with a decent case and 1 year of “Freetime” which is free age-appropriate content for kids .
I could be wrong, but the only difference between a Fire and the kids version is the latter comes with a durable rubber case. Frankly I found it to be pricey for what it was. If yours is prone to accidents, it may be worth it. iirc the kids version comes with a 2 year warranty.
We went with normal Fire 8’s for our 6yo’s, got them a decent case, and they’re able to play Roblox on their kids profile just fine. In case you’re not aware, when you have Kindle Free Time, the parental controls allow you to select an age range for your child and who then gets a range of apps / games that fall within the boundries you set. If there is a game that is outside of this boundry , you can add content for your child. That’s how we were able to grant permissions for Roblox before it was ordinarily available.
