How To Get Mending Books In Version 114
The quickest way to obtain a mending book is through a librarian. An easy way to find said librarian is bymaking one. You are going to need a regular villager to begin with, and a lectern .
Finding villagers is super simple you just need to look around a bit until you come across a village. Once you enter the village youll see that its swarming with people to force a career onto.
As weird as this sounds, you now need to isolate the villager from their village for this to work. This is due to the fact that the other villagers will be in competition for this new title, and for some reason only one will emerge victorious.
You can isolate your chosen villager using rails and a minecart, or the faster alternative of quickly crafting a boat and getting one of them to stand in it, before transporting them away to a remote location.
Once the village is out of rendering distance, you know youve rowed far enough. Get them to land, and place the lectern in front of your captive villager until you see their wardrobe change to that of an oldtimey librarian .
When you have your librarian, you can click on them to see what stock they have to trade. Unfortunately you arent guaranteed to see the mending book first time, but not to worry.
You can keep placing and removing the lectern to re-assign the villager to librarian, which will randomise the stock until the mending book appears!
Why Mending Is The Best
In case you didn’t already know, Mending is an enchantment that allows you to refill the enchanted item’s durability bar using experience orbs. Normally, you would have to repair an enchanted item by combining it with its core material at an anvil. For example, if you have a diamond sword that’s enchanted, you can repair its durability by combining it with diamonds at your anvil.
However, depending on how often you do this and how expensive your enchantments are on it, you’ll need a ton of diamonds. This is why Mending is better because you save on your resources and restore durability with experience points instead.
Importance Of Xp Farms
Once you finally do have your gear and your weapons enchanted with Mending, you need to ensure that you have a steady flow of experience points to replenish their durability meters. The best way to do this is to build XP farms.
In order to replenish a tool, make sure you’re holding it in your right or left hand while absorbing experience points. Until your tools are fixed, you won’t be able to gain any of the experience yourself, so keep that in mind as well.

Mending Enchantment In Minecraft
The Mending Enchantment is used to create tools which can remain durable after long-term use. This is done by rerouting a players earned Experience Points into the durability of the enchanted tool. This effect can only be applied as long as the tool is located in the players inventory. If the players is holding onto more than one tool with the Mending Enchantment, the game will pick a tool at random to apply the Experience Points to.
Unfortunately, this particular Enchantment cant be placed on an item by the player. Mending is considered a Treasure Enchantment. Treasure Enchantments are only able to be found within chests or purchased. They are typically more powerful than other kinds of Enchantments and are rare. To find the Mending Enchantment, find a merchant that is selling it. This item will go for three times the usual price of other Enchantments. Lucky players can also find this item in Raids and Chests.
Minecraft is available on PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Is There A Way To Bypass Enchantment Level Limits
You can already bypass enchantment level limits by using /give, /replaceitem, loot tables, etc. with custom NBT, and you can already add enchantments beyond the level limits to existing items using a roundabout method involving multiple commands, but it would be nice to be able to bypass the limits using the much friendlier /enchant command.

How To Improve Chances Of Getting Tridents
Thankfully, you can improve your chances of getting tridents by getting the looting enchantment for your diamond sword or iron sword which raises the trident drop rate by an additional one percent for every extra level of looting. Unfortunately, this wont increase the spawning rate so while it is possible to find trident throwing in any water body. For the best chance of getting one, you need to spend more time visiting ocean ruins where drowns spawn more commonly.
Once you get yourself a trident, you typically find the durability is very low while these can be repaired by combining tridents considering how rarest items they are. It is much better to repair them using the mending enchantment, so try to get this enchantment on there as soon as possible. The mending books can be obtained from trading with librarian villages and at last, we want to tell you all the types of Minecraft enchantments.
How To Get Mending In Minecraft
Mending is an enchantment that can be on just about any tool or weapon in Minecraft with durability. When an item has Mending, any experience collected will go to repair the item at the rate of 2 durability per experience point. When an item is being repaired, it uses up the experience so Minecraft players won’t receive the experience that is being used to fix it. Mending only repairs items in a player’s hand, off-hand, or armor slots, and not in the player’s inventory.
If a player has several items that have Mending on them, only one is repaired at a time –the experience goes to a randomly chosen one of these. There is not currently a priority system in place for repairing items first, though that may change in future updates of Minecraft.

How To Repair Fishing Rod In Minecraft
Just remember this rule of thumb in Minecraft, Items like weapons and tools can be repaired by combining two items of the same type in an anvil or a grindstone. The two items will combine to become a single, more durable item.
The key point here is that the durability of both items adds up when they combine to get a new item. Hence this works as a repair job.
Combining your worn-out and broken fishing rod with another newly crafted fishing rod in the anvil or grindstone can repair it.
Repairing the fishing rod is easier for seasoned players. But no worries, I will tell you how to do it in the step-by-step guide below, so it will be easier for you to understand and follow.
Here are your options:
Making A Librarian Villager
If players can’t find a librarian, they can make one. First, lure a Minecraft villager without a profession away from everyone else, then give them a lectern. They will take up the job, and then players can trade emeralds for books. If the captured villager doesn’t give the Mending book, players can steal back the lectern, then return it to remove and then return the Librarian profession to the villager. Then players will be able to trade with them again and try for a Mending book.

Craft A New Regular Fishing Rod
Craft a new regular fishing rod from the crafting table using three blocks of iron and five iron ingots.
Repair your broken rod in the anvil by combining it with the regular rod you have just crafted. A new fishing rod will appear in the third slot with the same enchantments and maximum durability.
This process will cost you a heft amount of experience but will not remove any enchantments. Note that you cannot keep doing this forever as the experience costs become higher and higher every time you use an anvil on an item.
Do Fishing Rods Break In Minecraft
A fishing rod is not rare in Minecraft. A common fishing rod in Minecraft is renewable and has a durability of 64 units. It means that you can use a fishing rod a total of 64 times at max for catching items before it breaks down. The durability of the fishing rod can increase with the application of the Mending or Unbreaking enchantments.
Here how some specific actions use the units of the durability of the fishing rod in Minecraft:
|Fishing Rod Actions|
|The bobber is in water Nothing gets caught||0 units|
|Catching junk, fish, or treasure||One unit|
|Bobber stuck in a solid block||Two units|
|Items/entities that are not dropped||Four units|
A fishing rod has infinite durability from repairing itself with a Mending charm. That is only if you use it for fishing only and are not wearing a damaged Mending armor. The durability cost is only subtracted from the reel-in.
In conclusion, you should know that the fishing rods can definitely break if the durability becomes zero. To make it unbreakable, you will have to enchant it by using three lapis lazuli.

How To Repair In Minecraft
There are different methods that can be deployed when repairing tools in Minecraft. The methods have different levels of difficulty, the most difficult method coming with the most advantages. I would be taking you through how to do repairs using the grindstone method.
This method requires using a crafted grindstone or you could get one from a neighboring village. You can craft a grindstone in Minecraft using a regular stone . The next step is to use a 3 by 3 crafting grid. You place two sticks and the stone in the first row and two wooden planks in the second row.
The crafting grid turns those into a grindstone looking like an end product on the right of the diagram below.
The first two minutes of this Youtube video pretty much explains how to craft your grindstone. The grindstone has two input slots and one output slot as you can see depicted in the upper half of the diagram below.
So in this method, if you have two damaged tools that are identical and you need to get at least one good one, you move the two tools to the two input slots at the top of the right part of the diagram. The two tools would be used to make one good tool for you which displays in the output slot. There is a disadvantage though. You lose the tools enchanting power.
Here is how the grindstone interface looks when being used to repair items :
How To Get Mending Books In Minecraft
Keep your equipment in tip-top shape.
For those who dont want to consistently find themselves going through different pieces of equipment in Minecraft, you can use the mending skill. To give the mending skill to a piece of equipment you need a mending enchantment book, and these take a bit of time to find in the game.
There are two ways to obtain a mending book. The most straightforward method is to acquire it as a treasure, which means you can only find it in the world. You cannot create a mending enchantment book at the enchanting table, making it highly sought after. There are two ways to find treasures while exploring the game naturally:
- Looting chests in dungeons, temples, mineshafts, End Cities, and other locations throughout Minecraft
Fishing is likely the most boring, and you can easily find yourself reeling in several enchantment books that are mending. If youre interested in trying your luck with obtaining other books, this is a decent method, but you have to be patient.
The second alternative to adding a mending book to your collection is to purchase it from a villager that is a librarian and through trading. If you cant find a librarian villager, you can create one by luring one of the villagers away from the rest of its occupants and forcing it to learn the librarian profession. Its better to do this with a single villager away from the others because they would otherwise compete for the profession.

How To Get A Trident In Minecraft
Instead, the trident can only be obtained from killing drowned zombies with massive damage or say critical damage but importantly not just any drowned zombies, The second misconception we need to dispel is that any drowned zombies can drop tridents. In reality, only those who spawn holding a trident can actually drop a trident. So dont waste time drowning regular zombies. Thinking it will make them drop the trident when they are killed.
It just wont only 6.25 percent of drowned zombies spawn holding a trident in Minecraft Java Edition. While this is higher on bedrock edition at 15 percent. It is important to note that on both the java edition and Bedrock edition not every drowned, holding a trident will drop it when killed.
The Drop rate is actually just 8.5 percent meaning the chance of finding a trident yielding drowned and then having it drop that trident when killed, is actually as low as 0.005 percent on java edition and 0.009 percent bedrock. Hence, why they are so hard to get.

How To Get The Mending Enchantment
I have a skeleton farm and I enchanted DOZENS of items already. I never saw “mending” though. The Wiki says, that you find this on the lower enchanting levels, but I never saw it.
Note: Before I enchant an item, I look through all of them and check on each what I would get: Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, Boots, Sword, Bow. I think chances that I really never could have seen it are pretty low.
Can you get this enchantment only from the end and from books? I saw some enchanted items in the end cities with mending.
Mending is a treasure enchantment, which you can only find in the world, you can not create it yourself on an enchanting table.
Treasure enchantments can be obtained by
- Chests in dungeons, temples, mineshafts, End cities etc.
Mending can be found on many items, including, for example, Fishing Rods.

How To Get Mending Enchantment In Minecraft
Mending is classed as a treasure enchantment which means it cannot be created with the use of an Enchanting Table.
A treasure enchantment can only be obtained in the following ways:
- Equipment or Books from Chest Loot
- Enchanted Book Trades & Bartering
- Dropped by a Raiding Illager
First and foremost, players can find books or equipment that have Minecrafts Mending enchantment from chests that spawn around the world. These are usually hidden in temples, mines, or other hidden areas. As each world is procedurally-generated, there are no specific directions we can give you to find these, youll need to simply explore and track them down yourself.
Books and other items with the Mending enchantment can also be fished out of the water with a Fishing Rod. You can increase your chances of getting an enchanted item out of the water by using a Fishing Rod with the Luck of the Sea enchantment.
Another way of obtaining Minecrafts Mending enchantment is by trading and bartering with a Librarian villager. This will require that you have a lot of Emeralds to trade for them, so make sure youve got a good supply of these in your inventory.
Finally, theres a chance that you can pick up an enchanted book from a raiding mob. Specifically, its the pillagers and vindicators that have a chance of dropping an enchanted book. The problem is, theres no guarantee of which enchantment it will be.

How Do You Repair Items Without Disenchanting Them
Earlier in this write-up, I stated that there were different methods of repairing items. I will be taking you through another method that aims at retaining the items enchantment. In fact, this method also combines the enchantments for two items when one is being sacrificed to repair another.
To repair items in Minecraft with the aim of retaining enchantments, I use an anvil instead of a grindstone. An anvil could also be crafted using the crafting grid and a number of those needs be produced regularly as it usually wears out from constant use. An illustration of the anvil interface in Minecraft is displayed below.
In the anvil diagram, the first slot before the plus sign is the target while the slot after the plus sign is the sacrifice. When repairing items, I put the item to be sacrificed in the slot on the right after the plus sign while the item receives the repairs, and of course the combined enchantments will be placed in the target slot.
The first function of the anvil will be to rename the item to be expected. The new name can be typed in the brown slot just below the Repair and Name depicted on the anvil interface.
There are two ways of repairing items I put in the target slot. I can put a similar item in the sacrifice slot but I would need to be sure that the sacrifice item is damaged enough to not allow a 100% durability to be exceeded after the repair process.
Here is a Youtube video that explains how to repair items without losing the enchantments.
