How to Build a WORKING ELECTRIC DOOR in Minecraft! (NO MODS!)
  • 1Dig a two-by-two-by-three hole. This means that the hole should be two blocks deep, two blocks long, and three blocks wide.
  • 2Dig two wire channels. When facing a three-block-wide side, dig a two-block-tall, two-block long corridor from the middle block, then remove the top block in front of you. Repeat this on the other wide side of the hole.
  • 3Place redstone on the bottom of the hole. This will create a two-by-three grid of redstone.
  • 4Place a redstone torch at the end of each channel. This torch will go on the raised block at the end of each corridor.
  • 5Line the corridors with redstone. You’ll place two redstone on the floor of each corridor to connect the redstone torches to the redstone on the floor of the hole.
  • 6Place a cobblestone block over both redstone torches. You may first have to place a block to the side of the torch and then attach a second block to that block for this to work.

    For those playing Minecraft Bedrock Edition, don’t worry; this design;will;work for you. Redstone is notoriously buggy in Bedrock Edition, but this design opens slowly enough for it not to be an issue. Those playing on Java may be able to safely speed up the design by reducing the tick counts on the repeaters, but Bedrock users should avoid doing this.

    This design is for a three-block-tall portcullis and can be up to 13 blocks wide. The guide will use a three-block-wide design for simplicity, but it can be easily expanded to fit your door size. For this three-wide contraption, you will need the following:

    • Six sticky pistons
    • Nine fence posts
    • Some building blocks and redstone dust

    How much redstone dust you need is dependent on how far away your opening/closing buttons are. It is unlikely that you will need much more than a single stack unless your door is very wide. For every additional block wide your door is, you will need three extra fences, four extra gravel blocks, four extra regular pistons, and two extra sticky pistons.

    This is how your door should be set up. The top piece of gravel in the picture below is ground-level. The fences above it are what will be pushed up to open the door. The pistons up top will need to be hidden within the upper wall of your castle if you want to hide the redstone. The bottom two rows of pistons;beneath;the gravel are sticky pistons, while the rest of the pistons in the design are not.

    To build hidden piston doors in Minecraft, players need to have ten piston blocks laid out precisely as the image above shows, with two 2×2 stacks facing each other, then one 1×2 stack to form an “L” shape on each.

    They must ensure the green sides face each other, else the doors will not work. There also needs to be two blocks of space between the stacks, which will act as the door.

    Next, users can fill in the empty space with blocks that match the piston doors, such as cobblestone, and blend it with the piston blocks. This will make the stack “complete” and should hide the green sides completely.

    It will look as if players have two stacks of blocks rather than the “L” shape now.

    After that, gamers need to build a somewhat arch over the two stacks, complete with a ceiling. They must be sure to leave a space of two blocks high between the stacks, which will be the door.

    Other than the two-block high space, the walls and ceiling should cover completely. Minecraft characters are roughly two blocks high, so making sure the space of the door is two blocks high is essential.

    To finish, they may place four Redstone repeaters on the top of the building with Redstone powder connecting all of them, much like in the image below. If they are not set up correctly, they will not work or connect to each other, causing the next step not to work.

    Add The Wood Planks Or Iron Ingots To The Menu

    In the crafting table, add the items to the grid.

  • 1Equip the sticky pistons. Select the sticky pistons in the equip bar.
  • 2Place a sticky piston in front of each of the raised blocks. Face one of the blocks that’s covering a redstone torch, place the sticky piston in front of it, and repeat for the other raised block.
  • 3Place a sticky piston on top of both sticky pistons. Face one of the sticky pistons, select the top of it, and repeat for the other piston.
