Activating Your Free Trial

You can take advantage of the new lower Realms price no matter how you set up your Realm but you only get the 30 days free if you sign up for Realms via the Minecraft client. Given that youre going to be doing most of your Realms management through the client anyway, lets just hop right in. Take a moment to launch your client now.

On the main screen, seen above, youll find a button labeled Minecraft Realms. Select it.

Youll see a simple summary of the Realms system with a button for Get a trial! and Buy a Realm!. Select Get a trial!

Give your Realm a name and description. Although your Realm is private we recommend not putting personally identifiable information in here. Both of these options can be changed at a later date.

Here you can create or upload a new world on your Realm. Lets break down the different options:

You can select New World to generate a brand new world, just like if you had created a new single player map on your personal computer. You can Upload world to take an existing world from your computer and upload it to share with friends. If you and/or your child has already invested a lot of energy building things with their friends this is a great way to take the local map theyve been working on and share it remotely. If you want to get up and running in Minecraft Realms, we’ve got all the information you need to set things up

Minecraft Realms are basically a way for you to set up your own private Minecraft servers, meaning you can hide away with your friends in safety without having to deal with anyone else on the internet. That’s handy if you just want to get on with your own thing, but the main bonus for Minecraft Realms over the other private game options available is that even when the creators are offline the worlds you create will persist meaning other players included on the guest list can visit at any time, to make their own additions or contribute to collaborations whenever they like.

You may have heard about Minecraft Realms, and wondered how they work or how to set one up in Minecraft. Coming up we’re going to explain just that: exactly what the are and how they function, how much they cost, and how to invite friends in to enjoy the fun.

Whats The Difference Between A Realm And A Server

As with most things in life, the big difference is cash. Like we said above, Minecraft Realms costs money. Servers dont. Another difference is that Realms will always be online, whether the creator is or not, but Realms do have stricter limits on how many people can participate.

And thats all you need to know about Minecraft Realms. Now, whenever youre talking Minecraft, you can be in your realm-ement.

Preparing To Install The Server

  • 1Assign a static IP address to your computer. This will ensure that the port you forward later will remain attached to your computer. To assign a static IP address, access your router’s page, then do the following:
  • Find your router’s list of connected items.
  • This will vary from router to router. If you can’t find a way to assign a static IP address, consult your router’s documentation for specific instructions.
  • Select your computer.
  • Change your computer’s number if necessary.
  • Click Save or Apply.
  • Wait for your router to finish rebooting if necessary.
  • 2Forward the Minecraft port for your router. Once your computer has a specific IP address assigned to it, you can proceed with forwarding the Minecraft port :
  • Find the “Port Forwarding” section and create a new rule if necessary.
  • Enter “Minecraft” as the description or title.
  • Enter your computer’s static IP address in the “IP” or “Address” section of the rule.
  • Select TCP & UDP from the “TCP” or “UDP” menu.
  • Enter in both port text boxes.
  • Ensure that the rule is enabled by checking its box or clicking the On button.
  • Save and apply your settings by clicking Save or Apply.
  • 3Create a new folder called “Minecraft Server” on your computer. This process will vary slightly depending on your computer’s operating system:
  • Windows Right-click the desktop, select New, click Folder, type in Minecraft Server
  • Mac Click the desktop, click File, click New Folder in the drop-down menu, type in Minecraft Server Return.

How To Join A Minecraft Realm

The only limit is your imagination

Minecraft offers subscription-based personal servers called Realms. These are always online and designed for up to 10 players at a time. More than 10 can join, but only 10 can play at once. The always-online nature of a Realm means that anyone can play at any time, setting it apart from multiplayer games that require the host to be online.

You can make a Realm of your own or join an existing one. If you regularly play with a set group of friends, a Realm is a great way to let everyone play when they want without requiring you to be online.

Realms are the Mojang-provided servers that players can buy using a subscription-based payment. For $7.99 a month, players can get a Realm that will host up to 11 people, including the host. Note that more than 11 other people can join your server over the course if its life, but only 11 people can be online at once.

How To Load Content To Your Realm

You can load content such as Minigames, Adventures, World templates, and Experiences. Its also possible to upload your single player worlds.

    Choosing a World Slot

You can have up to three different worlds saved in slots to your Realm. Only one slot can be active at a time, but it is easy and quick to switch between them. This is useful when you want to switch between Minecraft Realms content.

  • Access your Realms configuration menu.
  • Select the world slot you want to switch to and confirm. In the following image the switch is from World 1 to World 2.
  • Minigame

A Minecraft Minigame is free community-made content available to any Realm owner. Loading a Minigame temporarily replaces the content currently loaded on your Minigame slot.

  • Select Minigame to switch the loaded content on your current world slot to a Minigame.
  • Choose a Minigame in the list and load it by selecting the Select
  • Adventures / World templates / Experiences

By selecting the Reset World button, you can load content to your current world slot. Note that resetting a world slot deletes the current world unless you save a backup first. The following steps will show you different types of available content:

  • Select Reset World.
  • Choose which content you want to load.
  • Adventures, World templates, and Experiences will present you with a list of available worlds. Choose the world you want to load and click Select.
  • Upload World

How To Set Up Minecraft Realms

If you want to start from scratch and create a new world in Realms, go ahead and start setting up the world as you want it, with difficulty, mode , along with any other customisations you want to add. Once you’re happy with your settings, you should look for the ‘Create on Realms’ button, just to the right of the default ‘Create’ option. You’ll then be given the option of a 10-player Realm or a 2-player Realm. Once you’ve accepted the Terms and Conditions and finalised the transaction, you’ll be able to access your new Realm and Marketplace goodies if you selected the 10-player option straight away.

Minecraft Realms is charged on a month-to-month basis so if you find that you and your friends don’t get as much use out of it as you’d hoped, you can cancel at any time by visiting the subscription section of Microsoft’s website.

Is It Better To Have A Server Or A Realm

Realms is unbeatable when it comes to how easy it is to use, with it being controllable from ingame. All other hosts require you to do at least some work yourself, some more than others. The ease of use also means that some features that you have access to on third party / selfhosted servers arent available on Realms.

How Much Does Minecraft Realms Cost

The monthly subscription, Realms Plus will cost you $7.99/£6.69 for a maximum of 10 players per month. As well as getting your own private, always-online multiplayer server, you will also have access to over 50 Marketplace packs which includes maps, mini-games, and character skins. If you’ve never used Minecraft Realms Plus before, you may find you’re entitled to a 30-day free trial.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for something a bit smaller, you can choose to create a Realm for a maximum of two players at $3.99/£3.29 per month. You’ll get the same benefits of your Realm always being online but you won’t have access to the Marketplace content. There’s always the option to cancel later if you feel you’re not getting much use from it.

    What Is Minecraft Realms

As mentioned, Minecraft Realms is a private multiplayer server that you can set up, with a cost that we will come to shortly, so you can play the game with your friends and without the possibility of anybody else joining – it’s all done via invite only.

You can either add an existing world to Realms or you can create a whole new one and the server will be online for as long as you are paying for it – so just because you disconnect does not mean that the world will be inaccessible to anyone you have invited. And you have the power to kick anyone out who may be becoming a problem so it is a safe space for younger gamers.

Other than the Java Edition, Minecraft Realms is crossplay so it doesn’t matter what console or device someone is playing the game on as they will still be able to join you.

The only slight negative is that new mods cannot be created to be used – but our fingers are crossed that this feature will be added in some form at a later date.

If you want to learn more about Minecraft refund policy for the game and check how DoNotPay can help even when getting a refund seems impossible, you can find additional information on this page.

When you cancel a Minecraft Realms subscription, you wont have access to the packs or cloud storage anymore. Your world templates will be available for purchase and download for 18 months after stopping your subscription.

What Are Coordinates Used For In Minecraft

How to Create a Realm in Minecraft on Xbox, Windows 10, Nintendo Switch and Pocket Editions

Those that have never hopped into a Minecraft world before may be unaware of how useful Coordinates are. Although Minecraft is a pretty simplistic game in terms of its graphics, it’s actually pretty overwhelming from a survival game standpoint. Players that don’t have coordinates enabled will be tossed into a world that’s filled with dangers and have no way of actually knowing where they are unless they use a map. This can make it an absolute headache for those that build a base and then venture too far from their home in search of materials.

It’s very easy to get lost in Minecraft, especially in the early game. Making maps, using “dirt pillars,” or crafting beacons are the only ways for players to mark specific locations if they’re not using coordinates. To make matters even worse, players who join a server with friends will have a hard time locating one another without the use of locator maps, which require Iron to make. This can make the early game a hassle for friends that may venture too far from one another. Even locator maps themselves are a bit wonky and won’t show an exact distance.

Overall, enabling Coordinates is a quality of life tweak that greatly improves a player’s Minecraft experience, especially when playing with friends. Those that are looking for a hard-as-nails Survival Mode can leave it turned off, but it’s preferable for most.

Minecraft is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and various other platforms.

Minecraft: How To Set Up A Realm

Setting up a Minecraft realm is a very straightforward and simple process. By heading to Minecraft.net’s realms page or simply accessing realms through the game’s main menu, players can set their realm up in minutes.

The process for doing so is slightly different depending on whether the host is on Minecraft: Java Edition or Bedrock Edition. The process can be found outlined for both below:

    Java Edition

  • From the main menu, click the “Minecraft Realms” button.
  • In the bottom of the realms screen, there should be a “Buy Realm” button that players will want to click.
  • Jumping to the Minecraft Realms page on Minecraft.net, players will be given the option to start a free trial or to purchase a subscription for a Minecraft realm.
  • Regardless of whether players are using the free trial or subscribing to the realms service, they will need to input their payment information and follow the on-screen prompts in order to complete the process.
  • Once payment info has successfully been entered and the subscription/trial has activated, return to Minecraft’s main menu and select “Minecraft Realms” once again.
  • If the process has succeeded, there should now be a realm in the server list called “‘s Realm.”
  • Once the realm has been selected, players will be able to create worlds, invite other players, and tweak settings to their liking.
  • Bedrock Edition

  • Once Minecraft: Bedrock Edition players have set up their subscription or trial on Minecraft.net, they can open the game and click “Play.”
  • How To Edit A Realm In Minecraft

Once you have created a Realm, you can edit it according to how you want to play. You can turn on cheats, change its name, and much more.

How to Edit a Realm in Java

You can edit your Realm to match your vision for the game.

  • Open Minecraft.
  • Select the gear icon beside the name of your Realm.
  • Select World Options.
  • Change the settings to what you want and select Done.
  • The option list in Java is less expensive than that in Bedrock because many commands can be entered through the terminal.

How to Edit a Realm in Bedrock

Editing your Realm allows you to change almost everything about its settings.

  • Open Minecraft.
  • Select Play.
  • Select the pencil icon beside the name of the Realm.
  • Select the world you want to edit and select Edit World.
  • From here, you can change settings, activate resource packs to change the look of the game, turn on cheats, and much more. Note that if you turn on cheats or set the game to Creative Mode, it will permanently disable your ability to gain achievements in that world.
  • A Realm is the perfect way to play with friends in a joint world that you can all work together in. You can also set it up for PVP gameplay if you want to create a massive battleground that pits you all against one another. After you create a Realm, youre free to use it as you like. Your imagination is the limit.
