How Player Heads Differ From Other Heads In Minecraft

Heads are decorative blocks, which are categorized into;six types of heads in Minecraft: player, Zombie, Skeleton, Wither Skeleton, Creeper, and Dragon. While the last 5 heads can be obtained by killing the corresponding mobs in a certain way, you cannot do it with the player head.

In the vanilla Survival mode of the game, which means no mods or Minecraft resource packs added, the game won’t drop players’ heads. It would be wrong to drop Steve’s or Alex’s head for others to use as trophies. We don’t want to promote such an idea to the younger generation, do we? In order to obtain a player head, you must use commands or install additional data packs.

In fact, the player head functions similarly to the remaining types of heads in Minecraft. You can place it around as a decorative block, or put it inside an item frame to make a trophy. However, you cannot make Firework Stars with player heads.

Can I Place Those Heads Via Command Too

Yes you can!

On Minecraft-Heads.com, you can find a command to place the skull on every head’s page.

If you want to build the command yourself – here’s an example what you have to do:

Lets say you want to place a minichest via command. Here’s the give-command from the database:

And this is the setblock-command for the same skull:

/setblock ~ ~1 ~ minecraft:skull 1 replace },SkullType:3,Rot:-8}

You can still see the ID and the value there, only the attribute-names changed a bit. There’re also additional attributes possible:

SkullType: 3It must be 3 for a human skull to be placed. Only those can adopt custom textures.

Rot: 1With this tag you can set the rotation of the skull. Values between 0 and 15 are possible.

The number after “minecraft:skull”:With this number you can decide where exactly to put the skull. 1 is on top of the block. 2 to 5 are the positions if you place a skull on the wall. This works together with the Rotation-Attribute, so you can place the rotated skull on the wall which is not possible in Vanilla-Minecraft.

How To Set Up A Command Block

Minecraft:turtorial on how to put any block on your head ...

Once your Command Block is placed, theres a couple settings youll see when you interact with it.

Choosing between Impulse, Current or Repeat, and Chain will decide when your Command Block activates.

Impulse will make the command run once and stop.

Current or Repeat will make the command repeat consistently while powered.

Chain will make it so the block will only run after the connecting Command Block runs, allowing players to set up more complex systems.

A Command Block set at Unconditional will run no matter if the previous Command Block ran successfully. Conditional makes it so itll only run if the previous Command Block ran.

You can also set your Command Block up to be powered by Redstone. Selecting Needs Redstone will make it only activate if the block has Redstone. Selecting Always Active makes the command run regardless.

Whatever command you want set up goes into the Command Input section. You can use it to kill enemies if you dont like a particular one or other things. Minecraft commands can be a little complicated at times, especially when using it in Command Blocks, but you can check out a list of commonly used commands here so you dont have to do the heavy lifting yourself.
