Minecraft Releases Final Updates For Xbox 360 Ps3 Vita And Wiiu
Minecraft is getting its very last content update today for those on either an Xbox 360, Wii U, Playtation 3, or PlayStation Vita, as spotted by Eurogamer. The new update includes many new features, including pandas and new cats, which came to the Bedrock Edition to the game, as well as bamboo and the Nightmare before Christmas Mash-Up Pack, along with many other new features and improvements.
According to the source, Minecraft had a player base of as many as 21 million players since its May 2012 release date, and the nostalgic developers are welcoming any pictures/videos of past gameplay from its players. This means the only console versions of Minecraft that will continue to receive further updates are the Bedrock edition on the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, and Console Edition on the PlayStation 4.

Minecraft is available on a truly impressive number of platforms, but it wont be long now before Mojang and Microsoft drop some of them from their update schedule. Though there was some question as to whether or not Minecrafts incoming Update Aquatic would make it to legacy consoles, Microsoft has confirmed that it will. Unfortunately, this will be the last significant update well see for many of those older platforms, so those playing on them should prepare for the end.
In a new blog post over on Minecrafts official site, Mojang says that Update Aquatic will be the last one for the Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PS Vita editions of the game. Though the development team says that it would like to continue updating those versions, the fact is that they represent a small percentage of the active player base. For that reason, its no longer worthwhile to focus on keeping those versions up-to-date.
Although wed love to keep bringing new content to all our players forever, Mojang writes, the older generation of consoles now make up less than 5% of our active players, so weve made the difficult decision to focus our efforts to support players where they play Minecraft the most and where we plan to add new features: on Java, PlayStation 4 Edition and the versions of Minecraft made with the Bedrock Engine on other consoles, mobile, and Windows 10.

Next ‘minecraft’ Update Will Be The Last For Older Consoles
If you love playing Minecraft on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U or PS Vita, the game’s developers have some bad news for you. The next update, called “Update Aquatic,” will be the last that is compatible with these platforms.
Only about 5 percent of active players use Minecraft on these older consoles, and the team has chosen to put its resources where the majority of people who play the game are. The PS4 will continue to receive updates, as will mobile and Windows 10 versions.
The Xbox One and Switch versions of the older game will not receive the Update Aquatic because users can upgrade to the newer version. Therefore only the newer version of the game on these two consoles will continue to be updated. But don’t worry, this isn’t a cash grab: Xbox One users can download the upgraded version of Minecraft from the Microsoft Store for free, and Switch users will receive the update as a free patch to the existing game.

Joining the ageing Sony systems are the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii U, which have also been binned by developer 4J Studios.
The older generation of consoles now make up less than five per cent of our active players, said series owner Microsoft earlier in the year, so we’ve made the difficult decision to focus our efforts to support players where they play Minecraft the most. This, of course, includes the PlayStation 4, although by dragging its heels on cross-play, even that version is now lagging behind its peers.

Gameplay. Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition was released with all the up to date content as on other console versions and future updates will be developed in tandem. Split-screen support for up to four players, online multiplayer for up to eight, Creative mode, Survival mode, and a bundle of Trophies are supported.

An end of an era has arrived for many consoles and a handheld. Minecraft PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U, and Xbox 360 updates are coming to an end. 4J Studios, the developer behind the Console Editions versions, revealed he news on Twitter, noting the last Xbox 360 update will arrive on December 18, 2018 and last Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita update will arrive on either December 18 or 19, 2018.
4J Studios also shared a tweet of the company packing up its dev kits.

The last Minecraft update goes by different names on different platforms. On the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3, it is 1.82. It is patch 42 on the Nintendo Switch. On the Xbox 360, it goes by Title Update 73. In each case, the patch notes are the same. Downloading the update does the following on all four systems.
