I tend to build my house nearly completely out of glass because I like to be able to see all nearby threats. Are there any monsters with the ability to break glass? If so, which ones?

Glass is a fragile block when compared to other ones. Looking atthis page on the Minecraft Wiki which lists every block and their resistances to explosions, Glass blocks have a blast resistance rating of 1.5. There are two mobs in the game which either explode or shoot projectiles that explode: the Creeper and the Ghast. In order to not be broken by a Ghast’s fireballs, a block must have a resistance rating of 20.17 or higher, and a Creeper’s explosion is even more powerful than that. Because of this, you have to be careful to not let Creepers explode near or Ghasts shoot at your glass structures.

The other two destructive mob in Minecraft are the Enderman and Silverfish. Endermen can pick up certain blocks and place them down elsewhere, but Glass is not one of the blocks they can pick up. Silverfish can hide in Stone, Cobblestone, and Stone Brick blocks which get destroyed when they appear from them, so they have no effect on Glass.

And since silverfish only exist in strongholds , they aren’t usually a danger to your house either.

Can Porcelain Break Tempered Glass

Now, take your small piece of sharp porcelain and throw it at the center of the side car window as hard as you can. 1Gather sand. It doesn’t matter whether you use normal sand or red sand. Both turn into ordinary glass.

2Put the sand in a furnace.Craft a furnace out of eight cobblestone if you don’t have one already. Place it on the ground, then right click to open the smelting window. Move the sand into the top square.

3Add fuel. Put coal, wood, or any other fuel into the bottom square of the furnace. As long as there’s fuel in the furnace, it will turn each block of sand into a block of glass. Each block takes a few seconds to make, so be patient.

4Take the glass from the furnace. The glass will appear in the results square in the smelting window. In the default Minecraft skin, glass looks like a light blue, mostly transparent cube.

5Place your glass. Glass is a full-sized block that is completely transparent to light. You cannot recover the glass block by breaking it, so don’t put it down until you’re sure you want it there.

A tool with the Silk Touch enchantment can recover the glass block intact. This way, you can steal glass blocks from places like villages, or remove misplaced glass.

I’m not usually a builder, but I just deconstructed the Casino I built months ago. The only issue is that Glass takes months to break, does anyone know of a quicker way to break it?I doubt there’s any quicker way, but I’d love to save an hour breaking it all.

With regular tools? No; once you place a glass block/pane and hit it with regular tools or your fist – it shatters and you get nothing.

However, if you have a tool enchanted with silk touch, glass blocks and panes will drop their respective item pickups .

Glass panes are extremely cheap and easy to make, though. I don’t think they’re worth putting extra wear on a silk touch-enchanted tool to recover.

How hoften did that happen to us? We accidentely broke a block of glass or misplaced one and we have to get new glass.

Here my suggestion: You get glass fragments by broking glass blocks and have to put them in the furnace again to get a block of glass.

Yes, glass shards, I made a suggestion just like this one, but I agree with you.

We should be able to recycle them by collecting their shards or fragments to put into a furnace again.

Otherwise we end up with wasted resources.

It’s an alright idea by itself, but I don’t know if I personally would add something like this, seeing as how painfully easy it is to get sand. I’d still support anyway.

Well at first it is easy to find glass until you cleaned every beach and desert. Then you destroyed your environment and are ruined. Anyways I like it realistic and hope to get more people to support this.

I think this would undermine the value of Silk Touch somewhat. I think it’d be better if Broken Glass gave you back a Glass Pane–so you’re still recovering something, just not the full block.

Panes themselves could have a 15% chance to drop Broken Glass when broken
