How To Use The ENCHANTING TABLE In Minecraft

One way you can elevate your Minecraft game is by enchanting various items in your 3D block world. To do this, youll need an enchantment table. Youll have to use an enchantment table to enchant a variety of items. These tables range from experience level one to seven. Theres a book on the enchantment table that will open once a player is within range. The book will also face that player and flip its pages every few seconds. In addition, you can get better enchantments by placing bookshelves a couple of blocks around the table. Youll know the bookshelves have been placed properly when animated symbols move into the book. The enchantment table can enchant the following items: armor, axes, books, bows, pickaxes, shovels, and swords.

How Many Bookshelves Do You Need For A Level 30 Enchantment

To reach level 30 enchantments, youll need to max out the enchantment table. You do this by placing 15 bookshelves around the enchanting table. You can fit 13 around the table by forming a circle with one gap for you to enter and leave through.

The remaining 2 bookshelves can be stacked on top of the others.

Another way to get 15 bookshelves around an enchantment table is to place a row of bookshelves on either side of the table. Of course, you have to leave one block between the bookshelves and the table.

You can put 4 on each side and then double stack the rows. This will give you 16 bookshelves if you do it evenly, which is 1 more than you need. The extra bookshelf wont give you any additional levels, but it will make the arrangement look neat.

How to Make an Enchantment Table in Minecraft: 12 Steps

The enchanting table is fairly simple to use. When you interact with the table, the panel in the image above will appear.

On the lefthand side of the panel, there will be a slot for a tool. Next to the tool, you will see another slot. This is where you add lapis lazuli, a minable ore that can be found anywhere underground.

With your lapis lazuli and item placed, three enchantments will appear in the panel. Each enchantment requires a certain player level. If your enchanting table has 15 bookcases surrounding it, then you will be able to see the enchantment that requires you to be level 30. In the image above, you can see that the level 30 enchantment is Efficiency IV.

On the left of the enchantment, you will see another number, which signifies how many levels will be consumed. For example, if you choose the level 30 enchantment for Efficiency IV, you will lose three levels. So, if you had exactly 30 levels while enchanting, it will go down to 27.

This number is also how much lapiz lazuli will be consumed. For the level 30 enchantment, you will need 3 pieces of lapiz lazuli. Fortunately, this material is abundant, and after a mining trip or two, you should have more than enough.

After the enchanting table, the second most important item you need Lapis Lazuli. To get maximum out of the enchanting table, you need a minimum of 15 bookshelves around it, but you can add as many as you want to enhance the enchanting tables capability.

  • There are two blocks. In the first block, you place the item you want to enchant, and in the second block, as indicating the Lapis Lazuli are needed.
  • In this block, you will get three different enchanting options to select one from. Each option will come with a number, and that number indicates the experience level required to view the enchantment. You will get better enchantment with a better experience level.

Three Select A Set Of Enchantments From The List

Now that it has a list of the possible enchantments for the item, Minecraft must pick some of them to apply. Each enchantment has a statistical “weight”. Enchantments with higher weights have a higher chance of being selected.

In Java Edition and in Bedrock Edition 1.17.30, Minecraft uses the following weighted random selection algorithm:

  • Calculate the total weight of all enchantments in the list . The total of every enchantment is 136.
  • Pick a random integer in the half range [0; T) as a number w.
  • Iterate through each enchantment in the list, subtracting its weight from w. If w is now negative, select the current enchantment.
  • This algorithm produces the same results as listing each enchantment the number of times given by its weight, then choosing a random entry from the combined list.

So, for each enchantment in the list, the probability of it being selected is:

    P = w/T
    1 No

Shields can be given the enchantments Unbreaking, Mending, Curse of Vanishing, and Curse of Binding by using Enchanted Books. The player always gets at least one enchantment on an item, and there is a chance of receiving more. Additional enchantments are chosen by this algorithm:

  • With probability / 50, keep going. Otherwise, stop picking bonus enchantments.
  • Remove from the list of possible enchantments anything that conflicts with previously-chosen enchantments.
  • Pick one enchantment from the remaining possible enchantments and apply it to the item.
  • Divide the modified level in half, rounded down .

How To Use An Enchantment Table In ‘minecraft’

When you select the enchantment table to use it, you’ll see two slots. The first slot is where you’ll place the item you’re enchanting. The table can enchant your tools, armor, and most gear .

In the second slot, you’ll place the lapis lazuli. The enchantment will require up to three pieces of lapis, depending which level you select. You’ll also need to spend experience points, which you can see in the green bar above your hotbar. Killing mobs, mining, and smelting at the furnace are a few easy ways to grab more points if you need them.

Once you’re ready to use it, you’ll notice that the enchantment table doesn’t let you pick what enchantment to get. Instead, you’ll just pick enchantment levels, each of which has a selection of buffs it can give. Whenever you pick an enchantment, there’s also a random chance of getting a second buff too.

If, however, you want a specific item to become enchanted with a specific spell, your best bet is to enchant books until you acquire the spell you’d like. Then, use that enchanted book on the item at an anvil.

    Enchanting Items With The Table

Once you have all the enchanting equipment in place, actually putting it to use to enchant an item is fairly simple. Youll need to decide what you want to enchant- be it a sword, bow, boots, book or some other item. Remer that it is only tools, weapons and armor that you can enchant. You also want to enchant items that you plan to use and that would benefit from an enchantment. You dont want to waste your enchantment or put it on an item where it would not make sense. There are few restrictions on how you can enchant, so make sure that the enchantment you use make sense to you and how you play the game.

To start enchanting, just walk over to the enchanting table and open the enchantment table from your inventory. This opens the enchanting menu. You will see two boxes on the left and three slots on the right. The boxes are for the item you wish to enchant and the lapis lazuli. If you are using Creative Mode, you wont need the lapis lazuli. Otherwise, you need one to three of them to make the magic happen. A sword, for example, takes three lapis lazuli.

If you want to use a specific enchantment but are not powerful enough yet, then just keep playing the game and learning experience. You can always come back to the enchantment table later when you are ready and use that enchantment on the item of your choice.
