Minecraft Java Edition 18 Version History

Minecraft: Beta 1.8 Pre-Release

Minecraft Java Edition 1.8 is called the Bountiful Update and was released on September 2, 2014. It is considered to be a major update to the game that added banners, armor stands, rabbits, guardians and lots of new game commands.

Update Name

Here is what’s new in Minecraft Java Edition 1.8.

Items

  • Added Potion of Leaping and Splash Potion of Leaping
Spawn Eggs

Blocks And Items Coming In Minecraft 118

The first half of the Caves & Cliffs update came with lots of new blocks and items, but update 1.18 is much more focused on those big biome and world generation changes. One thing we do know will be coming is ore veins.

Ore veins

Iron and copper ore veins are snake-like ore formations that should yield a lot of valuable ore when found. At Y=0 and above, ore veins contain copper ore and granite. Below Y=0, the ore vein will give you iron ore and tuff.

More Lena Raine music

More of Lena Raines music is coming to Minecraft. Five new songs associated with new biomes are being added to survival mode. A music disc called otherside is also being added which can be found in strongholds and dungeons.

Can You Play It Early

You can play Minecraft 1.18 early right now. The release candidate is a way for players to get access to the update for testing purposes.

Generally, players on Minecraft Java can test it out and report any issues they come across. They work as a community-wide QA tester.

It is recommended to not do this with worlds you care about greatly as there’s always a small chance it could mess with it. If you really want to play an old world, make sure you have a backup somewhere.

This being said, the update is out very soon so it’s likely not worth your time to get in there now.

When Is Minecraft 118 Caves And Cliffs Part 2 Releasing

As of now, the developers have not announced the release time of the update as such. We only know that the update will be released on 30th November 2021, which is on a Tuesday. As far as the release time is concerned, here are the release timings of the Caves and Cliffs Part 1 Update.

  • 9am PT
  • 12 pm ET
  • 5pm GMT

Keeping in mind the above timings, players can expect that the second part of the update to drop at the same time as well. Usually, there is a prior announcement before the update is about to drop, so players will be able to know when to expect the update.

Considering that the first part of the update has been quite a success, we can expect the same from the second part as well. With just a few days to go for the update to release, we will be knowing more about it pretty soon.

According to the official site, The second part of the Caves & Cliffs update will focus on changes to world generation, such as increasing world height, adding more dramatic mountains and caves, and exciting new biomes. Minecraft 118 Release Time

We don’t have an official release time for the update just yet. That being said, we may have an idea if we look at the release of caves and cliffs part one.

It was released at around 10 am PST / 6 pm GMT the day of release. This being said, it was delayed a little from the time expected. If it doesn’t come at the time above, give it another hour to go live. They likely won’t delay anything intentionally now.

Therefore, we expect Minecraft’s 1.18 update release time to be 12pm ET/5pm GMT on November 30 or up to an hour later, so you’ll be able to play Caves and Cliffs Part 2 then.

Minecraft 118 Release Date: Everything We Know

Minecraft 1.8.1 Pre Release

Looking forward to the Minecraft 1.18 update? Caves & Cliffs part two is almost here and we now know exactly whats coming to the game when it launches on November 30. As you might expect, there are new mountain and cave-based biomes along with new blocks and items.

Version 1.17 already added many of the mobs and plants that will inhabit the upcoming biomes once the update goes live at the end of 2021, but getting an idea of where theyll fit in is good to know. This where the snapshot builds have been great, giving us a sneak peak of what to expect in version 1.18.

As of this years Minecraft Live show, we have unfortunately found out that the big, scary Wardens and their Deep Dark biome have been delayed from this version. Theyre now coming in the 1.19 Wild Update, which Mojang has announced will be coming in 2022.

With update 1.18 arriving today, heres everything you should know about what Minecraft Caves & Cliffs part 2 is bringing to the game.

Minecraft 118 Seed Parity

During the Minecraft Live 2021 show, Mojang announced another large detail for Minecraft 1.18. As of the second half of Caves & Cliffs, Minecrafts two main versionsJava and Bedrockwill share almost identical world seeds.

Minecraft world seeds allow you to create a specific world by entering a number in the new world menu when creating it. Any save file started by using a particular world seed will be identical to any other using the same seed. That only works if youre using the same version of Minecraft though. You can see on our list of best Minecraft seeds that Java and Bedrock currently have different world seeds.

For version 1.18, Java and Bedrock versions of Minecraft will have almost identical worlds generated by the same seed. Mojang says of complete seed parity that Were not 100% there yet, but close. Its very similar. Details will be different. You can see just how close your Java and Bedrock worlds will be in one of the examples up there that Mojang shared. Can you spot the differences?

Minecraft 1.18 is going to be a big update that changes how the game looks and plays across all platforms.

Developers Mojang has already shared plenty of information regarding its plans for the Caves and Cliffs Part 2 update, including a vague release window.

Right now, we know that Minecraft 1.18 is coming in 2021 but we dont know the exact timing, or even the month it will be available to download.

The good news is that were not far away from these questions being answered directly by the Mojang team.

Minecraft Live is being hosted this week and this will be the perfect time for the Caves and Cliffs Part 2 release date to be announced.

The team will have enough time to detail everything that will be included in Minecraft 1.18, and they will also be able to reveal how long it will take for it to arrive.

Terrain Changes: Exploring Below Y=0

In Minecraft 1.18, world generation is being overhauled and for the first time you’ll be able to dig below Y-Level 0.

The new lowest depth is -64, and below Y=0 you’ll enter the so-called “Deepslate layer”, where stone-type blocks turn into deepslate blocks. This is also true for ore veins: you’ll find copper, gold, iron, redstone, and so on in deepslate veins when you’re below Y=0.

You’ll find all sorts of fascinating new cave structures in 1.18 thanks to the new underground terrain generation changes. All this extra space also makes room for a brand new biome: the Deep Dark biome which can be found in the “deepest depths of world” according to Mojang. This biome is home to Candles, Sculk Blocks, and the Warden mob – the latter two of which we’ll talk about below.

The terrain changes also mean you’ll need to start looking elsewhere for Diamonds. Find out more with our guide on how to find Diamonds in Minecraft.

The update has introduced several new world blending options:

  • The Bedrock layer at Y level 0 below saved chunks will be replaced with Deepslate. New cave generation can happen underneath.

Minecraft : What Is The Warden Mob

The Warden is a new mob that spawns in the Deep Dark biome. As they are found so deep underground, Wardens are blind, responding to vibrations and movement instead of light. If you get near one, the area will dim, regardless of any light source used. You’ll know if one is aware of your presence as the ‘horns’ on its head will glow and rattle.

They’re pretty scary, having tons of health and dealing massive damage. They’re big, too, standing taller than an Iron Golem. They’ll also chase after you if you don’t crouch to sneak past them. Luckily they can be tricked by throwing objects like eggs or snowballs.

Mojang Release 10 Months Work In Minecraft 1: The Bountiful Update

Minecraft 1.8: Pre-Release 1 (The Bountiful Update)

What have you done in the last 300 days? Probably lots of different little things. The Minecraft dev team at Mojang have done one, big thing: put together the Bountiful Update.

Minecraft 1.8 was published to the Minecraft launcher today. Its taken longer than any other update in the games history, and incorporates a full-scale rebuild of its infrastructure. Thats the equivalent of umpteen creative mode cathedrals.

Jeb and team have spent much of the last year swapping out some of Minecrafts most fundamental systems.

These changes consist of large game structure changes such as replacing the hard-coded block renderer with a system that is able to read block shapes from data files, or performance enhancements such as multi-threading the client-side chunk rendering, wrote the games lead developer.

Many, many changes wont be visible to the naked eye, but the Bountiful Update also constitutes the largest injection of surprises into Survival mode in years.

Rabbits are the most compelling of the new mobs not least because theres a chance of rolling a killer variant thatll make you work really hard for its mutton. Endermen now drop burrowing, scarlet grubs when they teleport, and new underwater temples hide pockets of gold and deadly Guardians.

For multiplayer, Mojang have added a new player mode with smaller arms and more options for customising skins. And how about the return of floating islands to Minecraft? Thats the kicker, isnt it?

Bundle: New Backpack Item

Finally, a lovely new quality of life feature: Minecraft 1.18 is bringing us backpacks! Except they’re not called backpacks, they’re called Bundles, and they work in a different way than you’d expect.

You can make a Bundle out of 2 String and 6 Rabbit Hide, and clicking on one in your inventory opens up a miniature secondary inventory space of 6 slots. However: the Bundle doesn’t increase the total amount you can hold in the slot: it simply allows you to hold different kinds of items in a single slot.

For example: you’ll be able to hold 32 Dirt and 32 Stone in a Bundle, but you can’t hold 64 Dirt and 64 Stone in the Bundle because you’re still constrained by the single slot’s stack limit . So it’s not as useful as the Backpacks created by various Minecraft mods, but you can also understand why Mojang wouldn’t want to give us effectively limitless storage space inside our inventories.

That’s a wrap on the main features and details of Minecraft’s upcoming 1.18 update. Until then, the best way to change up the look of your world and inject that sense of discovery back into the game is to install one of the best Minecraft texture packs. Or, if you want an entirely different experience from your regular singleplayer world, why not check out one of the many great Minecraft servers available right now?

My favorite additions are the towns and mine shafts, though there is plenty to be excited about here. I havent heard what the general reaction to the new features is like yet. You guys are silent because youve been playing this entire time, havent you? I knew it.
