If you happen to stumble upon a village, you’ll notice that villagers have a very set pattern of life that depends on the daylight cycle. Villagers wake up every day at the same time, which is around 6am Minecraft time. Two hours later is when they get to work on their specific workstations.
Around afternoon, 3pm Minecraft time or seven minutes and 30 seconds into your game, villagers will consider their workday completed. They will spend the rest of their waking day gossiping with other villagers or reproducing. This social time is absolutely crucial for the survival of a village.
When 8pm arrives, and you’re about ten minutes into your gameplay, villagers will suddenly run indoors and hop into their beds.
This is their official bedtime, and gives them a few seconds of safety before mobs begin to spawn around the world and attacking them.

Minecraft Day Night Cycle How Long Does Day & Night Last
A Minecraft Day lasts for 20 minutes which makes it 72 times faster than real time. I am not good at Math anymore but I believe that equates 1 second of the real world time to 72 seconds Minecrafts time. Specifically, day time goes to 10 minutes and night time is around 7 minutes. In between, there is sunset and sunrise which lasts 90 seconds each. In terms of Ticks, there are 24000 Ticks in one Minecraft Day.
So, the daytime section is the longest cycle where the brightness level is highest. It goes from 0 to 12000 ticks. Do note that the exact sky color will be based on the biome that you are currently in. If you are in the desert, you will see a lighter blue than the Plains. The day time is the time when you are safer because undead mobs get damage when they come under direct sunlight. Even the spiders become neutral in case they arent following you around.
The night time is when the world is engulfed in darkness and hostile mobs and creatures rear their heads so be prepared. Theres something you can do to play around with the time
How Does It Work
At certain times during the day/night cycle, the mod will “freeze” time. The game will continue to run normally and the sun/moon/stars will move as you would expect . After a configurable amount of time, time is “unfrozen”. These are called extended periods. You can have as many extended periods as you want. Entering a negative number for the added minutes will skip time ahead , instead of extending it. By default, there is one extended period at noon and one at midnight .
The default config adds 30 minutes at noon and 10 minutes at midnight. This make days a total of 40 minutes long and nights 20 minutes, for a total of 1 hour per day/night cycle. Add, remove, or change extended periods as you see fit.

Minecraft Tickspeed For Day + Night = 24 Hours
I have a Minecraft project running with a few friends, in which we want to have a day as 24 hours. We can then set the time to the real life time, but unfortunately we don’t know which tickspeed we have to set it on. My second question is: how do I change the tick speed?
To make this possible, you need a plugin. This is not possible with a command.
But you change the tick speed like this:
/ gamerule randomTickSpeed
The default tick speed is 3.
1000 ticks corresponds to 1 hour in terms of day length.
72,000 GameTicks pass in one RL hour.
Therefore, every 72,000 ticks you have to advance the Minecraft time by 1000 ticks.
Of course it works with command blocks.
And it’s not even about the RandomTickSpeed, it’s about the normal ticks.
The whole thing is postponed by 6 hours!
0 = 6 o’clock
You add an hour with / time add 1000.
How would I have to set the scoreboard then or What would I have to do that after 12 hours of RL time, 12 hours in Minecraft are over ?
You have to switch off that the day passes automatically:
/ gamerule doDaylightCycle false
Then it’s best to turn off CommandBlocks from spamming the chat:
/ gamerule commandBlockOutput false
Then you create a scoreboard that counts the ticks:
/ scoreboard objectives add TicksPassed dummy
In a command block that is set to repeat and in the spawn chunks , you write:
scoreboard players add TickCounter TicksPassed 1
execute if score TickCounter TicksPassed> = 72 run time add 1t
scoreboard players set TickCounter TicksPassed 0
Night And Day In Minecraft
While the game allows players to build various light sources, like torches and the upcoming addition of Minecraft glow blocks in the Java Edition, nighttime is still an incredibly dangerous time for players. Without proper beds and sleep cycles, players will have no respawn points and will be harried by dangerous flying creatures called;Phantoms after about three in-game days with no rest. So knowing when night is about to creep in might be the ticket to surviving.

How To Change The Time In Minecraft
It is possible to change the time in Minecraft, for example, changing to the day when it is night-time, or vice-versa. It may be very useful as, during the day, you can break and place blocks in new locations to build your structures, while at night, mobs appear for you to battle.
To use the Minecraft change time feature, you first need to turn cheats on in your world. Then youll use the appropriate command to set time.
Why Is It At Night And Not In The Night
The use of the preposition at with night probably evolved from the fact that there is far less activity going at night than there is during the other periods of the day. Most people are asleep at night. Hence, night was viewed as a block of time rather than as a period of time during which things happen.

Minecraft Day And Night Cycle Schedule
|Time in Minecraft
|This marks the beginning of the day. You can no longer use beds at this point in rainy weather.
The day and night cycle of Minecraft can be further divided into four different sections.
- Daytime: This starts at 06:00 and ends at 18:00. This is the longest part of the 24-hour cycle. This part has the most light and you should complete all the important tasks during this time.
- Dusk: This starts at 18:00 and ends at 19:00. This is when the light starts to decrease as it marks the beginning of the sunset. You should start preparing for the dangers of the night during this time.
- Night Time: This starts at 19:00 and lasts till 05:00. Monsters start spawning during this time and you should not roam around carelessly. In addition to this, the light is extremely low during this time.
- Dawn: This starts at 5:00 and ends at 06:00. It marks the beginning of the sunrise and monsters usually start disappearing during this time. The light also starts increasing at this point.

Nighttime And Sleeping In Minecraft
Nighttime starts around 6pm Minecraft time, or about 10-11 real-time minutes into your gameplay in a brand-new world. As the sun sets, the light levels decrease on land and can go as low as four on some blocks that receive absolutely no light. This makes it an ideal playground for mobs, which will begin to spawn closer to 11 minutes of real-time gameplay.
Crops will still continue to grow at night, even in moonlight only. However, if you choose to sleep rather than stay awake, none of the progress is registered and the night is simply skipped.
This means that anything you left inside a furnace, for instance, won’t have magically finished by the time you wake up. Still, to avoid Phantoms spawning, it’s a good idea to at least sleep every other night.
