How Much Is Minecraft For Switch

Minecraft for Switch – Is it worth it?

Before you hit that Minecraft download button, youll need to take the price into consideration. After all, re-purchasing the game may be unnecessary if you already own it on a PC or other platforms. Do you truly need to buy it for the Nintendo Switch?

Like most other things, there isnt a clear-cut answer to this question. Minecraft for Nintendo Switch costs $29.99, which is decent for the sheer amount of content you get. It provides great content and gameplay, especially if youre aiming for crossplay and multiplayer. Above all, it gives you the full Minecraft experience right on a hand-held console that you can take anywhere.

If this is going to be your first Minecraft purchase, the Switch version is certainly worth the asking price. While it does lack mods and server-based experiences, what it offers can easily make up for what its missing.

So Which Is The Best Version Of Minecraft

For the complete experience easily accessible mods, frequent updates, well-rounded control options, and a robust online community PC is your best bet.

The Nintendo Switch edition of Minecraft comes in at a close second. I’ll echo Mike in calling it the best portable version of Minecraft, though there are a couple of caveats.

For one thing, local split-screen Minecraft is a lot of fun, but the Switch version’s inability to support individual Joy-Cons is disappointing. For another thing, the Switch version’s flaccid online multiplayer capabilities are a bummer. That could change in the future, but at the time of this writing, we don’t know if or when it’ll happen.

That said, I value Minecraft more as a relaxing experience rather than a communicative one. And there’s nothing more relaxing than playing Minecraft wherever you like with a solid control set-up that combines a touch screen with traditional controllers.

If you’re part of a household that has a mix of old and young Minecraft fans, Minecraft for the Switch is also a safe purchase. Your family will have a blast playing together locally, and the fun can go portable in an instant if someone needs the TV. Just make sure you have an extra set of Joy-Cons on-hand, and / or a Pro Controller.

If, however, you have a kid who wants to play Minecraft because all his friends are playing it online, and if you’re not especially interested in joining in, go ahead and nab the PC version.

Minecraft For Switch Review

A couple of years have passed since the original Minecraft Switch Edition was released. However, the first version lacked the usual punch the original PC game had. Thankfully, the Nintendo Switch Edition has since been replaced by the Minecraft Switch Bedrock edition, now simply called Minecraft.

Between these two Minecraft versions, the Bedrock edition is newer and shinier with a lot more features. It turned up its game compared to the Nintendo Switch Edition with more features, capabilities, and more. There are some who even claim that it provides the full Minecraft experience, standing up against even the PC versions Java Edition.

Conversely, if youve been a long-time fan of the PC version, we understand if you feel a little skeptical. After all, the Switch doesnt exactly provide the powerful performance high-end gaming PCs can. What can guarantee that the Switch is even capable of running the best of Minecraft? For that, we have to look at the nitty-gritty of the Minecraft Switch version and examine all its different parts.

Dive into your next adventure with the new Minecraft Dungeons: Hidden Depths DLC! A shard from the Orb of Dominance carried on a dark current now awakens creatures that have long slumbered beneath the waves. It’s up to you to free the tides from the undertow of corruption. Legions of sunken and drowned enemies lurk among the lost treasures, so you must remain vigilant under pressure. The ocean’s natural beauty can distract from the dangers of the deep, but new weapons, gear, and artifacts will make everything go swimmingly.

You Will Need An Additional Joy

Minecraft Switch Edition Review

You can connect up to four players in local multiplayer mode, but Minecraft is a fairly complex game, requiring a lot of buttons and controls. So on the Switch, each player must use both the left and right Joy-Con controllers to play. You can’t split the Joy-Con into two and share it with your friend in horizontal mode.

Luckily, Joy-Con controllers are much easier to find than the Switch itself.

How Much Storage Space Will You Need For Digital Downloads

If youre a gamer who downloads lots of digital games and you’re unsure about how much additional storage space youre going to need, take a look at the following.

Nintendo recently revealed the size of some of the games coming out for the Nintendo Switch. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is shown at 13.4GB while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe follows closely behind with a total of 8GB. Together, these 2 games consume over half of all the space presently available on the Nintendo Switch.

So, if youre on the low end of the downloading spectrum, we believe that a 64GB micro sd card would definitely do the trick. But if youre on the high end, 128GB or more should be taken into consideration.

How To Make A 1000 Power Fireball In Minecraft

To achieve the best result, I modified my game rules a bit. These are the following commands I used. Use the following command to summon the fireball, then punch it into the ground. Please note that you can adjust the power accordingly, but my computer was unable to handle powers above 1000, so tread carefully.

How To Get Minecraft On Nintendo Switch

There are two versions of Minecraft for the Switch. The original version, Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, included some original mini-games, but it wasnt compatible with other versions of the game.

The current version is based on Bedrock, the same version of Minecraft you can play on Windows 10, Xbox One, Xbox Series X or S, and other platforms.

The Bedrock version of Minecraft is available in the eShop on your Switch, and you can also buy a physical copy at your favorite retailer.

If you previously purchased Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, you can upgrade for free in the eShop on your Switch.

Heres how to get Minecraft on Switch:

Press the home button on your right joy-con to go directly to the home screen.

  • Select a profile to use with the eShop.

  • Type minecraft using the on-screen keyboard, then select Accept or press the + button on your right joy-con.

  • Switch Switch Lite And Their Games

    Minecraft (Switch) Review

Nintendo has stated that both the Switch and the Switch Lite will use the same physical game cartridges. As long as a game is playable in handheld mode, it will be compatible with the new handheld console. If you already have Minecraft on your Switch, you will be able to use it on your new Switch Lite as well.

Nintendo has no intention to make exclusive games for either the Switch or Switch Lite. This becomes apparent when you realize you can transfer not just your physical copies but also digital as well. According to the support page, “software purchased for download can be played on either console as long as the console is linked to the same Nintendo account.”

What does this mean? Yes, you can play Minecraft on your Switch Lite, and your Switch, and you can seamlessly swap between the two if you’d like! For more detailed information about transferring saved game data Nintendo has a helpful support page on the matter.

Minecraft Online Multiplayer Is Probably Easier To Connect To Than Any Other Switch Online Multiplayer Game

Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition will support up to eight players at once in a session. So far, playing online multiplayer Switch games hasn’t been all that seamless. At times, the online gaming process is kind of a pain. It sounds like Mojang has figured out a way to make it really easy to see when your friends are logged into their server so you can just jump right in.

You cannot issue an invite to a friend to join your own Minecraft session instead, anyone on your friends list will automatically see your instance is live if you’re both connected to the Internet, and they can jump in via the default “join” menu.

How To Set Up Minecraft Realms

If you want to start from scratch and create a new world in Realms, go ahead and start setting up the world as you want it, with difficulty, mode , along with any other customisations you want to add. Once you’re happy with your settings, you should look for the ‘Create on Realms’ button, just to the right of the default ‘Create’ option. You’ll then be given the option of a 10-player Realm or a 2-player Realm. Once you’ve accepted the Terms and Conditions and finalised the transaction, you’ll be able to access your new Realm and Marketplace goodies if you selected the 10-player option straight away.

Minecraft Realms is charged on a month-to-month basis so if you find that you and your friends don’t get as much use out of it as you’d hoped, you can cancel at any time by visiting the subscription section of Microsoft’s website.

Minecraft World Building On Switch Is Actually Bigger Than Wii U

According to Arstechnica, Minecraft worlds can be way larger than their Wii U counterparts.

In addition, you’re getting a lot more Minecraft to play than on the Wii U version. Each generated Switch world can be as big as 3072 x 3072 blocks, which is roughly 13 times larger than the Wii U’s pokey 864 x 864 world limit. That’s a bit more than a third the size of the PS4 and Xbox One versions’ 5120 x 5120 limitswhich, honestly, seems about right when comparing those systems’ specs.

Minecraft Will Soon Be Totally Cross

    Minecraft Wiki Nintendo Switch

At the E3 gaming expo, Microsoft announced it would add support for Minecraft Realms to the Nintendo Switch and that the game would become completely cross-platform this summer. So, you can play Minecraft on your Switch while your kids play it on Xbox One and your spouse plays it on iPhone. Yeah. It’s pretty cool. My nephew plays it on PC, so I’ll be able to game with him online anytime I want.

Minecraft Dungeons On Switch: The Good

Minecraft Dungeons on Nintendo Switch is still very much Minecraft Dungeons. The controls, gameplay, and features all line-up with the Xbox and PC versions, although the typical “A” button controls are swapped on the Nintendo Switch when compared to the Xbox controller, which threw me a bit to start with. You can sign in with your Microsoft Account to get your friends lists up, using a website link in-game, to help you set up multiplayer sessions.

Gameplay-wise, Minecraft Dungeons is a fun and accessible take on the ARPG style set by Diablo. Many of Minecraft’s signature mobs return, such as the iconic creeper and the game’s various undead creatures. Alongside them, there are some new mobs like the Necromancer, that can spawn tons of undead mobs, and Wraiths, which can spew fire across the map. If a spider web lands on you in the fire, it can get you killed pretty quickly.

Therein lies the best thing about Minecraft Dungeons. While it’s accessible and easy to grasp, it can be quite challenging if you ramp up the difficulty. Naturally, you’ll get better gear for doing so as well, becoming a satisfying loop of risk and reward.

It’s nice to have Minecraft Dungeons in the palm of your hand, though. This is the perfect game to grab a quick dungeon in here and there, as you grind your way up the gear ladder, and unlock the game’s various hidden levels. However, there are some notable downsides about the Switch version when compared to Xbox and PC that are worth being aware of.

How To Invite Friends To Your Minecraft Realms

The good news is that friends that you want to invite to your Realm don’t need to have the subscription to join and play with you.

To invite friends to your Realm, click the Edit button next to your Realm world, then select ‘Members’. You should see a list of friends that you have already invited and you’ll have the option to invite more. It seems that the number of invites you can send out is almost limitless but the people that can play on your Realm simultaneously will be limited by your subscription type so either two or ten players at a time.

This is also where you’ll be able to ‘uninvite’ players if they’ve outstayed their welcome or haven’t been active for a while.

How Much Storage Space Will You Need If You Mainly Buy Physical Games

There are many of us who prefer to buy physical copies of games over digital, and if this is you, then an abundance of storage space may not be a requirement. But you should still take into consideration that some of the games anticipated for release on the Nintendo Switch might not be getting a physical release, especially some of the nindie titles. If you plan on purchasing some of these games, it might be worth your while to invest in a MicroSD card.

Overall, regardless of what side of the fence you fall on, investing in additional storage space for your Nintendo Switch is something you should definitely consider. Make sure to check out our article on the best MicroSD cards for the Nintendo Switch for some recommendations.
