Water Flow Management And Item Collection
Underwater view of hopper and chest with water flowing toward it. The button prevents water from flowing in. The hopper is 1 block below the topmost water block so that items fall in from above.
The flow in the top layer is managed by first placing the row of water blocks along the wall, which makes a short waterfall into the next row but does not extend all the way across the room, as water would normally do on a solid surface. You must place a row of easy-to-break blocks just underneath the waterfall row to force the water flow to extend one more row. For this purpose, slime blocks, honey blocks, and TNT can be mined instantly without tools, and dirt can be broken quickly with a shovel. Break the temporary underwater blocks and repeat for the next waterfall row, working your way all the way to the opposite wall to get the top layer of water flowing from one wall to the other. Finally, place a water block opposite the hopper to cause the combined flows to sweep all floating items into the hopper.
An upside-down cobblestone stairs block is placed above the chest to prevent axolotls from leaving the room but still allow the chest to open. A block of sand is placed in front of the chest to provide a final seal to prevent any light from reaching the interior of the room. You just need to break this block to open the chest.

What Is Axolotl In Minecraft
Axolotl is an aquatic creature in Minecraft that attacks most other underwater mobs such as Fish, Squid, Drowned, and Guardians.
Axolotls need water to survive but they can survive on dry land for a few minutes. Beyond that, they start to dry out and take continuous damage until rehydrated and can die.
When Axolotls are fighting you or taking damage, they pretend to die and regenerates health. While playing dead, the Axolotls regenerate their health and during that time mobs are unable to target them.

Axolotls can’t technically be tamed, but they’re not hostile towards players and can be scooped up into a bucket with ease. You can then carry them around with you or re-home them in a pond or lake nearer to your base.
You can also attach a lead to an axolotl if you don’t have a bucket handy, but it will die if it’s out of water for over five minutes, though not if it’s raining or there’s a thunderstorm.

Breeding Axolotl In Minecraft
If you manage to get two adult Axolotls together, you can breed them using buckets of tropical fish. Simply feed each adult Axolotls with tropical fish, and you should see red hearts indicating that theyve entered the mating state.
The baby Axolotl will get the color of one of the two adult Axolotl randomly. It will also take 20 in-game minutes for a baby Axolotl to reach an adult state.
You can repeat this process for as much as you want.
How To Get A Blue Axolotl
As of Minecraft version 1.17.1, the only way you can get a Blue Axolotl without using commands is by breeding one.
There are five different colors of Axolotl: pink, brown, gold, cyan, and blue. The baby Axolotl will usually take after one of its parents in colour, but there is a 1 in 1,200 chance that it will instead become a rare Blue Axolotl.
The colour has no effect on the creature itself. All Axolotl are functionally and behaviourally identical even the ultra-rare blue variant has nothing which sets it apart from the other types besides its hue.
Of course, there are probably already dozens of texture packs which will change Axolotl colours to whatever the author likes.

Usually, the tiny beings will take on one of the colors of their parents however, you might get lucky and find yourself with a blue one.

The baby axolotl will grow to a full adult in about 20 minutes, and you can repeat the process of breeding every five minutes.
When you have at least a dozen of axolotls, you can craft a shulker box using the following recipe:
- 2x Shulker Shell

What Do You Feed Axolotls In Minecraft
Axolotls are the newest mob addition to the Minecraft 1.17, Caves and Cliffs update. They’re useful in their regeneration intention in spite of their cute looks. But feeding an Axolotl can a slightly difficult task to do. Because they only eat a bucket of Tropical Fish. Give them a standard and classic Tropical fish, then you are in for some disappointment. They wont eat it. As per Mojang, this feature was added to the Axolotl with an intention only because in real life Axolotls enjoy feeding on a live fish rather than eating a dead one. So if the gamers wish to feed their Axolotls then they need to craft an iron bucket and set it out to capture some Tropical fish.

Adorable amphibians that you can carry around in buckets – what’s not to love?
What is the new Minecraft axolotl? In case youre not familiar with these adorable amphibians, the axolotl is a real creature that lives in caves. Axolotls are an incredibly rare species of salamander and are actually critically endangered. They are native to the Valley of Mexico, and in particular to two lakes, one of which no longer exists, so hopefully their appearance in Minecraft will aid conservation efforts for the axolotl.
As in real life, the axolotl comes in many colour variations pink, green, and brown and is ludicrously adorable. Eventually theyll be found in the new Lush Caves biome in the Minecraft 1.18 update, but also have heaps of new mechanics not shared by other Minecraft mobs. Whats brilliant about the axolotl is that you can capture them very easily by scooping them up in a bucket and bringing them along with you. They may look adorable, but these are assault amphibians that you can deploy against ocean-based mobs by emptying the bucket mid-battle.
Theyre much easier to find in the Minecraft 1.17 update as you just need to look in watery areas in caves. Join us as we go through everything we know about the axolotl in Minecraft, including where to find and tame them, and how they fight during combat.

Axolotls Feed In Minecraft
Axolotls eat tropical fish, so if you want one as a pet its best that your tank have some too! When catching them from their natural environment try using an axe-compatible bucket. Instead of single ones previously caught because these tend to be easier for captive specimens and wander around more often. Since theyre less afraid than ocean-dwelling species which can make capturing tricky at times. Patience will likely win out though .
Where To Find Buckets Of Tropical Fish
Wondering where to get the Buckets of Tropical Fish? These items can be purchased from wandering traders or can be found in oceans. If the player searches for tropical fish themselves, they will need a bucket of water. Upon finding the tropical fish in the ocean, right-click the tropical fish with the bucket of water equipped to scoop it up.

What Do Axolotls Eat And How To Feed Them In Minecraft
Feed your aquatic friends.
Axolotls are underwater creatures in Minecraft that are a little difficult to find. They only show up in underground caves, deep underwater, so you want to make sure you bring a Potion of Water Breathing or two with you when you attempt to dive through the depths to find them. Luckily, they make a distinct sound when you get close to them. Although you cannot tame Axolotls, you can feed them, and they eat a particular item that you can give them to try and breed them.
The Axolotls in Minecraft only eat buckets of tropical fish. You can obtain a tropical fish and put it into a bucket by filling a regular bucket full of water, holding that water bucket, and then using it on a tropical fish while youre swimming near it. You have to make sure the bucket youre using is full of water, or it wont work, and you have to be holding it. You can find tropical fish swimming around the ocean, or you can alternatively trade a wandering trader five emeralds for a bucket of tropical fish.
When you have your bucket of tropical fish, take it to an Axolotl and make sure youre holding it. The Axolotl will follow you around while youre holding the bucket, and when you feed it to them, youll see several hearts above their head. You have to wait a few moments before youre able to feed the Axolotl again.
How To Feed Axolotls Bucket Of Tropical Fish
To feed Axolotls a bucket of tropical fish, keep the item in your hotbar. When you are near an Axolotl, equip it in hand and left click on the Axolotl. For Minecraft PE edition, you can tap on Axolotl while equipping the bucket of tropical fish to feed them.

How To Breed Axolotls In Minecraft
This is how to breed axolotls in Minecraft.
Where To Find An Axolotl
Axolotls are pretty rare as they will only spawn underwater inside lush caves biome. The condition for spawning axolotls is what makes them rare: They will only spawn when there is a clay block less than five blocks below the space where they are supposed to spawn in the lush cave. This means that there needs to be a clay block below the water block where they are expected to spawn.

How To Tame And Breed Axolotls In Minecraft
You cannot tame an Axolotl, but you can force it to breed with another Axolotl to produce a baby.
To get two Axolotls to breed, you need to get them near each other, and feed each of them a Bucket of Tropical Fish to get them to enter “Love Mode”. At this point they will breed with one another, producing a baby Axolotl. This is the same process by which you can breed many other animals, such as Foxes.
Baby Axolotls will follow their parents until fully grown, which happens 20 minutes after birth. You can speed up the journey to adulthood by feeding the baby more Buckets of Tropical Fish.
You can also lead an Axolotl in a direction by approaching it and holding a Bucket of Tropical Fish in your hand, much like how a Pig will follow a carrot on a stick. This will help you when it comes to getting both Axolotls in the same place ready for breeding.
Note: Tropical Fish on its own does not do anything. You need to use a Bucket of Tropical Fish to have any effect on nearby Axolotls.

How To Breed An Axolotl In Minecraft
Players that want to breed an Axolotl in Minecraft will need a dedicated pool in their world. We recommend building the pool near the player’s home or frequented spawn point since the pool and stored Axolotls should be an easily identifiable location.
The total materials you will need for breeding Axolotls is one pool, two Axolotls, and two Buckets of Tropical Fish. The pool itself doesn’t need to be very large nor should it be, since the Axolotls should be close to each other for breeding purposes. How you design your pool is ultimately up to you, but Axolotls can climb upward a distance of one block. We built a 3x3x2 pool and only filled the water up to one block’s worth.

With the pool constructed, place each Axolotl inside the pool. Then feed each Axolotl a Bucket of Tropical Fish each. Hearts will erupt from the Axolotl after being fed. In a matter of seconds, the Axolotls will breed and produce a baby Axolotl.
Axolotls have a chance of spawning in five colors: Lucy, Wild, Gold, Cyan, and Blue.
