How to make an item sorter in Minecraft easy

minecraft-java-editionminecraft-modsminecraft-redstone

General Info I’m playing on a server where they modified the hoppers to pass 8 items per tick instead of 1.

The system I want to build I’m working on a casino game. User tosses 1 item into a hopper. This activates the casino making the user win or lose.

The problem An item sorter is required to prevent the user from tossing in different items. Whether this is a hopper that only allowes 1 type of item to enter or 1 that filters out different item types does not matter.

The problem is the hoppers passing 8 items per tick. Say there are 18 stacked items inside a hopper. 1 is tossed in, activating the redstone signal. Instead of that 1 item passing through to the next hopper, 8 are passed through at once, leaving only 11 stacked items into the “sorter hopper”. So now the next player would have to toss in 8 items instead of 1 in order for it to activate the redstone signal again.

Is there some way I can solve this issue?

Some extra info that might be usefull The game doesn’t require an item sorter to work. Without redstone, a single item gets passed through the hoppers just fine. I just need to prevent players from tossing in other items than the one required. So any solution to that end is perfect.

Place Repeater And Another Redstone Dust

Place a repeater going out from the stone block pointing in the direction of the dropper, as shown in the image. Now, place a redstone dust going from the repeater to the comparator.

The comparator will produce a redstone signal whenever there is an item inside. This signal will run in a loop from the comparator to repeater, then again to comparator.

How To Make An Automatic Item Dropper In Minecraft

Automation is one of the most popular aspects of Minecraft. In the game, players can automate almost everything, including farming, killing mobs, obtaining blocks and so on.

In Minecraft, most automation projects are possible due to redstone contraptions. Players can use redstone items like comparators, repeaters, observers, etc. Some redstone contraptions are common and used in many builds, such as item sorters, redstone clocks and item droppers/*-*/62

An automatic item dropper is a simple and useful redstone contraption that every player should know. This article is a step-by-step guide on how to build an automatic item dropper in Minecraft.

Does anyone know of a good item sorter design that can sort multiple types of items into one chest and that’s decently easy to make?I was trying to do this one, but it seems a bit complicated and slow.

If you want to sort multiple items into the same chest that Tango Tek design is state-of-the-art

You could combine hopper lines from a conventional “1-item-per-chest” sorter, but the result would be bigger and not have the easy flexibility to change what went were.

Basically one either uses stacking mechanics as items enter a container , or those same stacking mechanics along with hopper mechanics & comparator output changes .

WARNING: I have an extemely “grindy” playstyle YMMV if this doesn’t seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.

This is likely the easiest and most compact design for systems where you want multiple items in same chest.

However you kinda have to plan ahead as to how much stuff of a given type you are going to store. If you set aside a chest for cobble, and ‘prime’ each slot in chest, and then chest fills up, you are kinda screwed unless chest down the line is being undeutilized. And you cannot take out full stacks, always must leave one item per slot.

Is It Possible To Sort Non

Item Sorters are super sweet. But, I have a skeleton farm, and am getting tons of non-stackable drops. Since armor can be smelted into iron/gold, I’d like to smelt those drops in a furnace, and burn bows in a furnace. And trash all leather armor. Is there a way to sort out these non-stackable items in vanilla survival?

    • @IronAnvil Not really. Fabian’s answer is partial, but gets at the key point. There’s no “universal” sorter, but a couple of “partial” tricks. So, I abandonded my “universal” approach, and just have some partials in key areas. It helps, it’s not ideal. An exhaustive list of tricks would be awesome…. JohnMay 19 ’18 at 22:40
    • What partial tricks have you employed? I like your idea with the grinder. Are you still doing most of it manually?May 20 ’18 at 2:50

There is no one way for all of them, but most can be sorted using different tricks: Armour and weapons can be equipped to zombies and unequipped again, potions and water bottles can be filtered using a brewing stand, shulker boxes can be placed and broken automatically and so on.

For now, please just look up ” sorter” for all of them on YouTube, I’ll expand this answer later once I’ve figured it out for all items myself.

How To Create An Automatic Item Sorter In The Minecraft 117 Caves & Cliffs Update

Most Minecraft players can agree that they will eventually have acquired too many items to keep track of after a long play session. While many players haphazardly throw their items into the nearest chest, others prefer organization. With an automatic item sorter, the player will never have to search through multiple chests to find the desired item.

Automatic item sorters may seem challenging to build at first, but players will quickly realize that it is relatively easy. The image above showcases a very simple automatic item sorter than can be built by even the most redstone-incapable.

    Preparing The Item Filter

Minecraft – Tutorial: Quick & Easy Item Sorter (With Overflow Protection)

The first step to creating a filter is to have filter blocks. At an anvil, you will need to rename at least 20 blocks as filter blocks. They can really be named anything, but it doesn’t need to be anything more complicated than just ‘filter.’

Your build should have a 5×4 wall of hoppers. The bottom two hopper rows attach to the chests, while the other two are over the chests. To create a filter system, you will need the hopper row second from the top. This is also the hopper row that you attached to the side of the comparators. Above, you can see the correct row for creating the filter system highlighted.

After opening a hopper menu, you will see five spaces for blocks. Using four filter blocks, fill the last four spaces.

In the first space, place a stack of blocks that you want to be sorted. Place a full stack of blocks in this space. The items should filter, and you will be left with 41 blocks. Keep these blocks here.

The stack you place will become the item that the chests below will carry. Above, you can see dirt placed. This means that the chest in front will be sorted to only hold dirt blocks.

Continue doing this for each hopper. Each hopper should have four filter blocks, and then a stack of 41 blocks. You can place anything that you want to be sorted in this first space.

Once you’ve finished this filter system, you’re done! Place unsorted blocks in the right-hand chest, and wait for them to be sorted.

How Do I Sort Items To The Left Of My Hotbar

    Status

Lapr0x said:Please someone answer this because I posted it multiple times on reddit and no one knew.So when I play skywars and I shift click items from the chest into my inventory, it used to go to the left of my hotbar. But now the first items start from the right of my hotbar and it is super annoying always having to re-arrange it. Anyone know a fix because I couldn’t find this in the settings either

S For Building An Item Sorter

Step 1: Place 5 double chests in a row and 5 more on top of them. Connect a hopper to each one of them.

Step 2: While facing the chests, place 5 repeaters in a row, two blocks away from the hoppers. Place building blocks on both sides of repeaters with redstone torches on the inner blocks, as shown in the image below.

Step 3: Make a 3×5 platform next to the hoppers. Place 5 comparators close to the hoppers while facing away from them.

Step 4: Use redstone dust to connect all the comparators and the repeaters.

Step 5: Place a row of hoppers going inside each comparator. On one side, place a temporary block , with hoppers going inside it. Once the hoppers have been placed, remove the temporary blocks.

Step 6: Rename some blocks to use them as a filter and place them in the last 4 slots of the hoppers that are connected to comparators. In the first slot, place the type of item that needs to be sorted.

Step 7: Add a chest on the left side of the top row of hoppers and place items to sort them.

Creating An Item Sorter In Minecraft

Item sorters are fascinating redstone builds in which players can leave their items. The player’s things will be stored in separate chests, along with other items of the same type. For example, if one leaves diamonds in an item sorter, they will be stored in the chest with the rest of the player’s diamonds.

The following items are required to craft an item sorter in Minecraft:

    • 25 solid building blocks
    • 5 redstone torch

Put one item of something youll never sort into each of the for slots to the right. I use sticks renamed to sorting stick. Then in the far left slot only, top it off with the item you wish to sort. If you use all of one type of item, itll all flow out & break the sorter. I tried that too and it doesnt work.

How Does An Automatic Item Sorter Work

As its name suggests, an automatic item sorter in Minecraft helps players to categorize their items automatically via the chest system. The mechanism functions like this:

    • You feed your items from your inventory to the Input chests.
    • The Input chests drop the items onto the Hoppers, then onto the conveyor belt.
    • All of the items will travel to each and every single chest in the system. When you leave at least one of the desired items, the correct ones will stack and stay there. In case the chest doesn’t contain the exact same item, the system moves it along.
    • The process repeats until there are no items left in the system.
    • In case the system overflows or no chests are available, the items travel to the Output chest.

Anyone Know How To Make A Item Sorter For Bedrock

Do the Java edition item sorters work on Bedrock? I would give one of those a try. A simple schematic that works on Java:

    . . B

    • X Hopper pipe, running into or out of page

    • > Hopper, facing right. This has one slot with 18 items and four slots with one filler item in each.

    • C Comparator, facing right

    • < Hopper facing left into chests

    • B Solid block

    • \ Redstone torch, attached to block

    • R Repeater, facing left

    • . Air block

This simple sorter does not have overflow protection and is best suited for low volumes of items. For higher volumes of items, use a sorter with overflow protection. I recommend trying this out to see if it works.

Place Two Solid Blocks And A Redstone Dust

The final step is to place two solid blocks and a redstone dust. Put one block on top of the comparator and another on the redstone dust behind the solid block from the first step, as shown in the image. Between them, place one redstone dust.

The redstone loop created by the comparator will now activate the dropper whenever there is an item in it. Players can add a chest and hopper to put items in the dropper or just connect it to a farm or an item sorter.

    Minecraft Auto Sortersimple Yet Complicated

    Minecraft Tutorial – Compact Automatic Item Sorter – Expandable(Minecraft 1.17 )

You will need 19 items of what you want to sort, 1 Redstone repeater for each item sorter. You will also need 2 Redstone, 1 or 5 comparators, and about a stack of hoppers and chests along with some Redstone lamps depending on which sorter you make. If you make a sorter with Redstone lamps, they will tell you how many double chests full of items you have in the chest which can be very useful. Now how to build it.

Step 1. First make your hopper chain. A hopper chain is hopper all going into each other directing the items.

Step 2. Make a hopper underneath you hopper chain. Have it facing into nothing. Underneath that hopper have a hooper going toward where your chests are.

Step 3. This is where the Redstone comes in. Have a comparator coming out of the hopper underneath the hopper chain. Have your 2 Redstone dust coming out of the comparator. Then take the one repeater and put it underneath the 1 redstone dust leading into a block with a Redstone torch underneath the 2 hopper. As shown above in the picture.

Step 4. Now this is where the items come in. In the first hopper put 18 of your item in the first slot of the hopper. Then fill the rest of the slots up with renamed rotten flesh or something you have a lot of. don’t stack the renamed item, just put 1 in each slot. Then put the last item you want to sort in the hopper on top of the redstone torch.
