Getting The Map Chunks
Once you get your first 0x0D, you have to convince the server that you deserve to know about all the map chunks that are around you.The vanilla client will actually start sending 0x0D packets BEFORE receiving it’s first 0x0D packet
- Every 50 milliseconds, send one of 0x0A – 0x0D.
You will get several fragments of chunks at first that are very far away from your location. Ignore these, since the chunks they are in will be loaded fully later. Full chunks load spiraling outward from your location in a circular pattern, eventually creating a 20×20 square for a total of 400 chunks.
To test if this worked, count the number of 0x33 map chunk messages you get that are full-sized chunks . If you don’t get any, or you only get a couple, you probably aren’t sending the 0x0A – 0x0D properly.
Manually Building The Custom Client
This procedure is intended to allow folks that, for whatever reason, would prefer to use the standard Minecraft Java Edition Launcher to run the WesterosCraft Custom Client.
As of version 1.11.2, we require Java 8 and we STRONGLY recommend running with at least 3GB of memory configured . Confirm these by looking at the ‘Java Executable’ and ‘JVM Options’ settings on your profile in the launcher. If the vanilla launcher freezes while loading WesterosCraft or our Resource Pack, bump up the memory to 3GB or even higher.
Before starting, please ensure the following:
- Install Java 8 64bit for Windows 10 here:
- Make sure you’ve run Vanilla v1.12.2 on your Minecraft Java Launcher at least once, so that the necessary files for v1.12.2 have been downloaded
Check That Everything Is Working
A Minecraft instance should be running now on your computer, and the console should have printed these two lines alongside others:
...: : Hello Fabric world!...: : This line is printed by an example mod mixin!...
If that’s not the case for you, recheck everything and if nothing seems to work, leave a comment or send me a PM and I’ll try to help you.

I Didn’t Get A Login Screen So My Username Isn’t There
- Single-PlayerTo add your username go into eclipse and navigate to “Run > Run Configurations.. > java Application > client > Arguments” and under “Program arguments:” add the following replacing “steve” with your username –username steve.
- Multi-PlayerFor testing in a multi-player you must authenticate yourself or the server wont allow you on. You do basically the same thing as you would in single player but instead of ‘–username steve’ you would replace it with your Minecraft account email address and add your password as so replacing 312mine! with your own password –username steve@minecraft.net –password 321mine!.note You can use the authenticated version in single-player as well but it’s not necessary.
How To Modify Minecraft The Easy Way With Typescript
Usually, modifying Minecraft requires coding in Java, and a lot of scaffolding. Now you can write and share Minecraft mods using TypeScript/Javascript.
ScriptCraft is an open source JavaScript Minecraft modding library, and weve written support for TypeScript, and a bunch of tooling to create a familiar developer experience for those coming from JavaScript land .
In this article Ill walk you through getting set up and building your first TypeScript Minecraft mod in under an hour as little as 20 minutes, depending on your internet connection.
In this video I show you how to write a basic Minecraft mod using TypeScript, and run it on your local computer with both a desktop and a mobile Minecraft server.
Below, Ill walk you through the steps, with links to resources.

Accessing The Current Player
Right now, the mod is just printing a line every time a player gets hurt, our next objective is accessing the player instance.
We must first remember that the onDamage method is inside of a PlayerEntity instance. We can take advantage of that and simply use this to access the instance properties and methods. The problem comes when the compiler yells at us because it thinks that we’re an instance of SwitchPlayerEntityMixin.
We don’t have a way to tell the compiler that this method is being executed inside of another type of class, so we can use this trick:
PlayerEntityself=this
With this, we are telling the compiler that this is an Object and then, we cast the object as a PlayerEntity. And voilá! We have access to the player that is receiving damage, we can now update our printed line to display the player’s name.

Creating A New Minecraft Profile
- You will see the new profile panel with various options.
- Change the Name to whatever you like.
- Change the Version drop-down to the version of Forge you just installed.
- Add a \yourprofilenamehere to the end of the game directory.
- Run the profile once before adding mods to make sure Forge has installed correctly.
Digging/placing Blocks Behind Walls
- Neither the Notchian server nor Bukkit check whether you actually have line-of-sight to a block when you dig or place blocks. Thus, if you noclip through a wall and mine the blocks behind it, the server will correct your position and ignore position updates, but still break those blocks which were within four meters of your corrected position. Likewise, any chests, buttons or levers can be used as long as they are within that critical 4-m distance.

Set Up Java Developer Kit
We will need to download the Java Developer Kit that will let our Minecraft Modding in Eclipse work correctly.
You can find the for JDK 8. The version of JDK you need is JDK 8 to work properly with Minecraft Modding.
The download page should automatically detect your platform and give you the correct download. The version I am downloading that is shown in the picture is for Windows 64-bit. However, you can click Other platforms to find versions for other operating systems. Click the Latest release button to begin your download.
Now the download of the executable file will start.
Once this is finished, find the file in your downloads folder and run the executable to install the JDK.
Run through the pop up window guide to install the JDK for your computer and click on each next keeping the default settings until the JDK finishes installing.
You will need to agree to the End-User License Agreement to continue.
Let Java run its installation until it is finished.
Now that JDK is finished, we can set up our code editor in the next step.
Switching Positions With Another Player
Now that we can access the player’s properties and methods, we can use one of those to access the whole world.
The world property references the current Minecraft World that is being played, and one of the things we can do with it is getting the list of the online players.
With that list, we can pick one of those players and later, swap their positions as you can see in the following code:
After implementing this, you’ll need two Minecraft clients to be able to test it. You can do it by opening one with ./gradlew runClient and then using the official Minecraft client with your Mojang account. Then, open the test world in LAN and join it with the other client.

How To Write A Client

Note that a lot of the information here is out of date . Check the page history for what was recently updated.
Choosing A Modding Method
When creating minecraft client mods my research has found that different methods of creating mods. of the choices listed here, they have different perks:
- : Confusing to install mods, difficult to develop for, highest probability of breaking , but allows for the most features to be added.
- ModLoader: Easier to use, limited features, not used often, unable to find support?
- Minecraft Forge: Slightly more difficult to develop, more extendable, large API, easy to install mods, frequently used
Minecraft Forge is probably one of the better options as of right now so here is a short intro to getting started:
