Minecraft Caves & Cliffs Release Date

The Minecraft Caves & Cliffs release date has been split, with the first part arriving June 8 and the second set for the holiday season, for both the Windows 10 and Java Editions. It was first announced during this years Minecraft Live presentation.

So what exactly do we mean by the release date has been split? Well it turns out that some things were easier to implement than others, so rather than delay the entire update to much later on, the Caves and Cliffs update will be released in two separate updates: 1.17 and 1.18. Here is what you can expect from each update:

  • 1.17 update: Previously known as the Summer update, this includes the new mobs like the goats and axolotls, and building blocks like dripleaf and deepslate. The new items for copper are also arriving in this update
  • 1.18 update: Previously known as the Holiday update, this one will include anything to do with world generation: new caves/mountains, placing of new biomes, and world height. Mojang is also trying to get this update to work with all existing Minecraft worlds. By the time part two launches, up to new 91 blocks will be added to the game.

There is one more feature thats being delayed even further down the line, and thats archaeology. As explained by vanilla game director Agnes Larson, Mojang wants to give it more time for development as its a brand new system and above all else Minecrafty.

Minecraft 117 Features: Here’s What’s Included In Caves & Cliffs Part 1

Part 1 of the Caves & Cliffs update launched on June 8. While it’s technically the smaller of the two updates, it adds loads of new blocks, animals, plants, and craftable items. But as some of these things are only supposed to spawn in the new biomes, you may be confused about what you can expect to see when you fire up your updated version of Minecraft.

It’s worth noting that some blocks or creatures specifically tied to the upcoming biomes might not spawn naturally quite yet. It does appear that there are other ways to obtain them, however, such as via Creative mode or from a lucky find in a chest or from a Wandering Trader.

Minecraft Java Edition 1171 Update Release Candidate : All You Need To Know

Minecraft 1.7.2 Released today! Our first look

It has been almost a month since Mojang released one of the most awaited Minecraft updates of 2021. The Caves & Cliffs update brings many new changes and features along with a lot of new items, ores, and three mobs.

The Caves & Cliffs update was divided into two parts, and the most exciting features of the update, such as cave biomes, cliffs changes, and the world height adjustments, have been held back by Mojang for version 1.18 update.

Before releasing any update, Release Candidate versions are released by Mojang so that interested players can try and test them out and report back if they notice any bugs or glitches.

A second release candidate of Minecraft 1.1.7.1 has released fixing the critical issues in this candidate.

What’s New In Minecraft 1171 Release Candidate 2

Release Candidate 2 has now been made available to test for glitches and issues. According to what has been revealed by Mojang, it fixes some “critical issues” found in Release Candidate 1.

Usually, when the developers say they’ve fixed critical issues, it was primarily related to security problems or a dupe glitch that is not well known. Hopefully, if no significant issues are reported regarding 1.17.1 Release Candidate 2, the official Minecraft version 1.17.1 will be released on July 6th, i.e., today.

There’s a second Release Candidate for Minecraft 1.17.1! It has critical fixes! Well I’ve promised a video for every update, so here’s a video for this one!

Goats, axolotl friends, and plenty of new blocks

Looking forward to the release of Minecraft update 1.17? For years, Minecraft players have been asking for a big update to the rather bland underground areas you may know them as caves. Theyve not really changed all that much since vanilla Minecraft launched over a decade ago, while new biomes have been added constantly to the game. So it was hugely exciting to get confirmation of the Minecraft Caves & Cliffs update.

While the cliffs do get new snow effects, powder snow blocks, and goats, the really fascinating stuff thats being added is all found beneath the surface. All youll need to do to find these new areas is tunnel downwards. Three new underground biomes were discussed during this years Minecraft Live presentation, filled with new plants to harvest, new materials to gather, and new Minecraft mobs to encounter.

Yes, Minecraft Caves & Cliffs does add a terrifying-sounding monster, but it also gives players not one, but two potential best friend mobs that can help them take down pesky enemies. Here is everything you can look forward to when Minecraft 1.17 goes live.

Minecraft 117 Update Release Date

Minecraft 1.7.2 Released today! Our first look

Minecraft update 1.17 is currently scheduled to release sometime in mid-2021. The Caves and Cliffs update will release simultaneously on both the Java and Bedrock versions of the game, but Java players can test out the new features early by playing the latest snapshot version.

There is no exact release date at the moment for the Caves and Cliffs update, but the Nether update was released last June, so theres a good chance that 1.17 will be released sometime this summer.

What Does The Caves And Cliffs Update Add To Minecraft

Minecraft version 1.17 will add new mobs and blocks to the game, and it will overhaul Minecrafts cave generation system to create larger and more diverse underground areas. The in-game height limit will be expanded by 64 blocks upwards and downwards, so caves will run deeper than ever before.

Currently, Minecraft caves are simple and typically feature nothing more than small caverns or narrow passageways. With version 1.17, several new cave types will be added to the game to make underground exploration much more engaging and rewarding. Large aquifers, gigantic caverns with stalagmites, and long winding spaghetti caves are just a few new additions to Minecrafts cave generation formula.

Mining will also become a bit more complex with the Caves and Cliffs update. Minecraft 1.17 increases the depth and height for every world, so there is much more to explore underground. To compensate for the increased depth, certain ores will be more common at certain depth levels to allow for more strategic mining. You may be able to find iron more commonly close to the surface, while gold is plentiful near the diamond layers deep underground.

Most ores have also been retextured for accessibility reasons, so your favorite Minecraft metals will look a bit different when you find them in the Caves and Cliffs update. New ores like copper and amethyst can also be found in the new caves, so even the most experienced Minecraft players have a lot to look forward to.

Minecraft’s Caves & Cliffs Update Is Getting Split In Two

The next major update to Minecraft is a biggun, so big that it’s now getting split in two. Mojang have announced that due to technical complexity and number of changes they have planned for the Caves & Cliffs update, it will now roll out in summer and holiday releases. The 1.7 update was previously expected this summer, which will now be focused on adding new blocks, items, and creatures. The winter release will include the big world generation changes that add new cave types, mountain types, and increasing the world build height.

In their announcement post, Mojang call out world generation as one of the big sticking points for the update. “Take the completely revamped world generation, which affects all the caves and mountains in Minecraft,” they say. “With this feature, we are completely reshaping the Overworld, including the build height. Not only do we have to consider every effect this can have on the world but also how it will affect performance.”

In Mojang’s video up there, they explain that they didn’t want to delay the entire 1.17 update just because world generation needed a bit more time in the oven. Instead, they’re splitting off the bits that can be added to the game with less headache and getting those into an official release this summer. You will be able to update your existing worlds to the versions released this summer and this winter, Mojang say.

Minecraft Caves & Cliffs New Blocks

Given the nature of the split update, its easier to just list which blocks are coming and where you can find them. The new Minecraft blocks in 1.17 are:

  • Copper ore found underground close to mine shafts
  • Dripstone and Pointed Dripstone blocks found in caves
  • Amethyst geodes found in caves
  • Glow lichen found in caves
  • Powdered snow found on mountain tops
  • Deepslate found close to bedrock in the underground area
  • Moss found in shipwreck chests
  • Glow Berries found in mineshaft chests
  • Azalea use bone meal on moss for a chance to find it
  • Dripleaf plant use bone meal on moss for a chance to find it

Note that you can also find some of these items by trading emeralds with wandering traders. Outside of these new blocks, the new textures for ores will also appear in the Minecraft 1.17 update. They were redesigned due to accessibility issues for colourblind players.

What’s Your Favorite Feature In Part I

Agnes mentions that her favorite feature has to be copper. She explains that when she plays Minecraft, she enjoys making up stories about her Minecraft world, and copper helps implement things into said stories, like adding a history to everything. With the use of copper and how it oxidizes over time, it can add a fun historical element to any Minecraft world.

Alex mentions that his favorite feature is powdered snow, especially because one of his real life hobbies is skiing and hiking. The addition of powdered snow brings the element of mountaineering into Minecraft, and he is very excited about it.

Minecraft 17 Release Set For This Friday The Games World Will Never Be The Same Again

Minecraft Snapshot 13w43a e 1.7 Pre

Minecrafts last major update was released back in June. Considering it added horses, you could fairly argue that the updates changed the face of Minecraft irrevocably for the better. Yet its update 7 that Mojang are subtitling The Update that Changed the World.

As it doubles the amount of biomes in the game, adds stained glass , and has a completely rewritten network code, you can tell why.

It feels like weve been working on this for a year now, with more than half a million lines of code changed over 1,104 commits weve been working extremely hard on this update, writes Nathan Adams. Were calling this one The update that changed the world, because it really has in two different ways theres over twice the amount of ingame biomes, and weve overhauled lots of the code preparing for the plugin API.

It sounds like were a significant step closer to a proper modding api.

The update is due out this Friday.

Heres that full list of changes:

Why Not Just Release Everything In The Part Ii Update

Alex explains that releasing them in separate parts will allow them to focus on specific subsets of features that are released in each update. He then mentions that it is ideal to release them separately so that they can get the updates out as soon as possible and receive as much feedback as possible.
