» 1. Go to our section for texture packs to find one of your liking. In this example we will use Faithful PE.
2. Use 7-Zip to extract the Faithful PE zip file to the following location:
C:\Users\Name of User\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\resource_packs
If the resource_packs folder doesn’t exist then create it first.
3. Open Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta. Click “Settings”. Then click “Global Resources” in the left sidebar. Then find “Faithful PE” in the list of available packs and select “Faithful PE”.
4. Enter one of your worlds or create a new one to enjoy the new textures.

In the many years since Minecraft first launched, its become a lot easier to install Minecraft texture packs and get them running with minimal fuss.
Heres how to download and install texture packs for Minecraft:
- Launch the Minecraft Launcher
- Make sure you choose the latest stable version of Minecraft .
- Select Options from the main menu
- Then navigate to the Resource Packs section
- Now click Open Resource Packs
- Put your newly downloaded texture packs into the folder. It will work in a zip file or unzipped.
- Select them in-game by dragging them to the column on the right
- Rearrange your addon packs to load in the correct order
Note that not all texture packs will work in the latest Minecraft Java Edition build, so check what the latest supported version is on the download page. If you want to use some of the best packs then youll need to revert your version of Minecraft to a previous version which you can do easily through the launcher. We tend to keep a couple of older Minecraft versions installed for heavily modded playthroughs.

Many PvP packs will be lower resolution to make sure your performance and FPS stay as high as possible. Extract Texture Pack Files
The next step is to open the .minecraft directory, before opening the “versions” folder. Inside this folder, players should now open a folder with the name of the Minecraft version they want to edit the texture pack for.
A jar file should be found inside this folder, and players should right-click it and press “copy”.
Players must now create a new folder inside the main .minecraft directory. This new folder can be named anything. Inside this folder, the copied jar file should then be pasted.
After this has been done, players need to right-click the freshly pasted jar file and press the option titled “extract to.”
