Minecrafts enchantment language comes from a 2001 PC game called Commander Keen. It uses the Standard Galactic Alphabet featured in the classic game. Many players may be interested in learning this fictional language, but before you do, you should know that the words and phrases are randomized.

How To Get Mending In Minecraft

Mending is an enchantment that can be on just about any tool or weapon in;Minecraft with durability. When an item has Mending, any experience collected will go to repair the item at the rate of 2 durability per experience point. When an item is being repaired, it uses up the experience so Minecraft players won’t receive the experience that is being used to fix it. Mending only repairs items in a player’s hand, off-hand, or armor slots, and not in the player’s inventory.

If a player has several items that have Mending on them, only one is repaired at a time –the experience goes to a randomly chosen one of these. There is not currently a priority system in place for repairing items first, though that may change in future updates of Minecraft.

Create An Enchanting Table

Most people will be using enchantment tables to create an enchanted item, so we want to show you how to make one. If you are playing in Creative mode, you can find the enchantment table already in your inventory. Depending on the version of the game you are playing, it could be listed under Miscellaneous, Decorations or Items.

Youll need a book, four obsidians and two diamonds to create an enchanting table. You also have to have a crafting table, which allows you to use a 3×3 grid in the crafting menu. Once you stand at the crafting table, you will be able to open up the grid large enough in the crafting menu to make the enchanting table. We cover how to make a crafting table in another article, so please refer to that if you need help with the basic crafting mechanics.

Youll have to put the items onto the crafting grid in the right order for this to work. Otherwise, you wont be able to craft anything at all.

Put the book on top, in a row of the grid all by itself. The second row should consist of one diamond, one obsidian, and one more diamond, in that order. The third row should be all obsidian. Then, the item will appear, and you just need to move it over to the inventory screen to start using it.

Combining Them In An Anvil

Minecraft players can create higher level enchanted books by combining two of the same enchantment inside an anvil. For example, a player finds two sharpness one enchanted books.

Players can combine these two books to make an enchanted book that has Sharpness two. Players should note that this will not create two books of sharpness two.

The two books will combine to make one book of sharpness two. Players can only do this with two identical books. Using a Sharpness three book and a Sharpness two book will not create Sharpness five.

Making An Enchantment Table

In order to make an enchanting table, players need three things: diamonds, books, and obsidian. Players can make books in Minecraft using three sheets of paper and one leather; leather is gotten from animals like cows and horses, and paper is made from sugar cane.

Obsidian is found where water flows over lava. Players can divert water onto patches of lava, then mine the black, volcanic rock and pick it up to use for their new enchantment table. This is not to be confused with Crying Obsidian, a building material used to make respawn points, or the unobtainable Glowing Obsidian blocks. Next players need diamonds. Diamonds are found mining below level 15, most commonly between levels 5 and 12.

A Word About Bookshelves

You dont necessarily need bookshelves to start enchanting, but its your interest to craft a few a soon as you can and place them around the enchantment table. Bookshelves can raise available enchantment levels and increase the likelihood of getting powerful enchantment options while crafting.

Without nearby bookshelves, the minimum experience level never goes over eight. Consequently, youll have a hard time getting enchantments that coincide with your experience at higher levels.

To craft a bookshelf, you just need Planks and a Book. Place up to 15 bookshelves around the enchanting table to maximize your options. Just remember to keep a one-block buffer zone between your shelf borders and the table.

How To Get The Enchantments You Want

Each time you use an enchantment table you will be given three options, and for each option you will be told one enchantment that you will get, but not if there will be a second or third enchantment on the item.

If you dont like any of the choices you see the only thing you can do is enchant something else and try again.

How To Enchant Items

Enchanting is relatively simple, but there are a lot of facets to it. Before we get into it, let’s go over exactly what you’ll need:

• Experience points. Whenever you do things in Minecraft, like defeat mobs, mine rare ores, or craft/smelt, you might gain experience points. These points accumulate in levels, and it’s these levels that act as your currency for enchanting.

When you select the enchantment table to use it, you’ll see two slots. The first slot is where you’ll place the item you’re enchanting. The table can enchant your tools, armor, and most gear .

In the second slot, you’ll place the lapis lazuli. The enchantment will require up to three pieces of lapis, depending which level you select. You’ll also need to spend experience points, which you can see in the green bar above your hotbar. How Many Bookshelves Do You Need For A Level 30 Enchantment

To reach level 30 enchantments, youll need to max out the enchantment table. You do this by placing 15 bookshelves around the enchanting table. You can fit 13 around the table by forming a circle with one gap for you to enter and leave through.

The remaining 2 bookshelves can be stacked on top of the others.

Another way to get 15 bookshelves around an enchantment table is to place a row of bookshelves on either side of the table. Of course, you have to leave one block between the bookshelves and the table.

You can put 4 on each side and then double stack the rows. This will give you 16 bookshelves if you do it evenly, which is 1 more than you need. The extra bookshelf wont give you any additional levels, but it will make the arrangement look neat.

How To Use Enchanting Books In Minecraft To Make Enchanted Items

Now that you have an impressive library of enchanted books, its time to make use of them. Enchanting with books is a slightly different process than putting the special ability directly onto an item. Instead of using an enchanting table, youll use your trusty anvil.

Once you open the anvil crafting grid, follow the steps below:

You can also combine enchanted books to create a single book with multiple or enchantments with higher levels, just like combining tools and weapons. Keep in mind, though, that combining books doesnt always work in a players favor.

If you have two enchanted books of the same level, they may be combined to produce a single volume of a higher level. However, if you combine two books and some spells are not transferrable, the anvil will only transfer the appropriate abilities. Any unusable abilities are lost in the process.

How To Get Double Minecraft Axe Enchantments

Why stick with one axe enchantment if you can have two? You may have already noticed that you can only use unenchanted axes on the Enchantment Table. However, you can combine two enchanted axes using the Anvil to double the effects. This will repair one, and destroy the other. Do keep in mind that both items need to be the same type . You can also use an axe and an Enchanted Book instead.

Not all axe enchantments can be combined though. Silk Touch wont go together with Fortune, and the same goes for the combat-based ones .;

How Does Enchanting Work In Minecraft

To enchant an item, right-click on an Enchanting Table and pop the item in the first slot. Three options for enchantments will appear for you to select.

Place 1-3 Lapis Lazuli in the second slot to unlock the different available enchantments .

Hover over each enchantment to see the enchantment type and level. Then click on the desired enchantment to apply it to your item. That’s all there is to it!

Actually that’s a blatant lie. There’s an awful lot more to enchanting than meets the eye. As well as surrounding your Enchanting Table with Bookshelves, another way to increase your chances of getting high level enchantments is by increasing your XP level. An XP level of 30 will unlock the most powerful enchantments.

It’s also worth knowing that the material type of the item you’re enchanting has a bearing on the likelihood of more powerful enchantments appearing. The material type with the highest “enchantability” is Gold, followed by Netherite, then Leather and Chain or Wood and Iron .

An item can hold multiple enchantments, as long as they don’t conflict with each other . You can’t have an item with two of the same enchantment type, but many enchantment types have different levels of power. Sharpness, for example, has five levels, with Sharpness V offering the highest damage potential.
