Bee nests will spawn in densely wooded areas. So biomes like Flower Forests are the best place to find them.

If you see a bee just follow it and it will eventually take you back to its nest.

EMBRACE THE SUN: Create your own flowery, buzzy, world

Once there you can collect honey by clicking on the nest while holding an empty bottle.

The bees won’t be too happy with you so be ready to run! You can fight them off but given their scarcity killing bees isn’t ideal.

Minecraft Bees: How To Find Bees And Harvest Honey

From honey farming to making beehives, you need to bee fully prepared for this fuzzy mobs arrival

Minecraft bees are a neutral Minecraft mob, meaning they keep to themselves unless you mess with them or their nests seems fair. If, like in reality, you get stung, the bee loses its stinger and eventually dies. Which should hopefully give you a reason to stay clear, or you know, just treat the bee with the respect it deserves.

The honey Minecraft bee is part of the Minecraft Java Edition, and adds what Mojang calls a large bug to the lineup of Minecraft mobs. Modders have already created Adventure Time and Bee Movie mods for the bee update, as well as a mod that lets you ride bees in Minecraft by attaching saddles.

Aside from being adorable, Minecraft bees are also resourceful and just want to live the good life, gathering pollen and helping you grow your crops. They dont like rain and sleep at night aww but can be used to collect honey or craft your very own beehive.

Bringing A Bee Nest To Another Location

You can break a nest and transport it and its bees to another location using a tool with Silk Touch. When you use a Silk Touch enchanted tool, the bees stay inside the nest and dont get aggravated. The best time to try this method is either when its raining or at night when bees return to their nest.

Once you place the nest in a more convenient location, you can follow the same steps listed above to harvest honey:

  • Wait until the nest reaches Level 5 and you see honey dripping from the nest.
  • Place a campfire underneath the nest.
  • Use a glass bottle to harvest honey.
  • Using a tool without Silk Touch will break a bee nest, but it wont drop anything. The bees surrounding the nest will also get angry and swarm the player, even if you have a campfire going.

    Find Bees in Minecraft

    Collect The Raw Materials

Everything you need to know about Bees in Minecraft

The progress of the whole crafting process lies in the collection of needed items. It would be best if you grab some of the Minecraft items beforehand. What you would need are three pieces of honeycomb and six wooden planks.

Let me tell you about the way of getting these raw materials in Minecraft. Lets find out more about the methods one by one.

    For honeycomb

Getting honeycomb is a bit trickier in Minecraft. Still, you can get a honeycomb by using a few items. You will need to shear for damaging the beehives. As a result, you will see that the honey will start falling down the nests. You will be able to collect three honeycombs per beehive.

To avoid wasting your precious time, you can also harvest or farm honeycombs around your Minecraft world. This method will save your time and effort. To make this process easy, you can also use a dispenser and a campfire around the targeted beehives in Minecraft.

    For wooden planks

You can easily find and grab wooden planks in Minecraft. Make sure that you are using the nearby places for finding wooden planks. Here, you can use any wood. Then you will use that to get the most out of that. You can use oak, spruce, and many other kinds of wood.

Craft A Beehive And Scaffolding Base

Now its time to craft a beehive. Youll need six wood planks and three honeycomb pieces for this recipe. Once you have the resources, follow these steps to get started:

  • Place the wood planks in every box along the top row and bottom row.
  • Set the honeycomb pieces in all three boxes in the middle row. It should look like a honeycomb sandwich with the planks as the bread pieces.
  • Take your new beehive and place it in your inventory.
  • If you want to get fancy, you can also make a Scaffolding Base for your new beehive. It isnt a requirement to harvest honey, but it makes your beekeeping set-up look fancy. Youll need six bamboo sticks and some string to make the base.

Heres the crafting recipe for a scaffolding base:

  • Place the string in the top-middle box.
  • Place the bamboo pieces along the sides of the box with the string. Youll have bamboo in the first boxes of the top row, middle row, and last row. Bamboo pieces also go into the last boxes of each row with nothing in the boxes directly underneath the string.
  • Drag your scaffolding and place it into your inventory.
  • Building A New Place To Live

Bee Nests will break upon impact and drop nothing unless you have the Silk Touch enchantment. If you do have the Silk Touch enchantment, you can actually skip this step and just take down the Bee Nest. Just be sure to do this at a time when Bees are inside it since those Bees can travel with you inside the item and won’t become angry.

To move them from their natural habitat, you’ll need to build a new place for them to live. These player-built homes are called Beehives and are made using 6 Planks in two rows along the top and bottom, and a row of 3 Honeycombs along the centre.

In order to get the Honeycomb you need to build your own Beehive, you’ll need to have a little patience. Bees slowly build up honey in their home over time, and it needs to be at the maximum capacity before you can get any Honeycomb. You’ll know it’s at level 5 because the Bee Nest changes and begins to drip honey.

At this point, you can use Shears on the nest in order to get Honeycombs. Keep in mind that this will anger the bees! If you want to avoid that, look below for details about keeping bees calm.

After finding bees, you will go for a bees nest under the trees in Minecraft.

How to Make a Beehive in Minecraft 1.15

Bees were added to Java Minecraft in the 1.15 update and in the 1.14 update to the Bedrock Edition. Now, that may sound complicated to some, but its actually really easy to hop into the bee update if youre playing on a PC.

Always Place A Campfire Under A Bee Nest Or Beehive

Bees will attack you if: you destroy their nest, harvesting their nest, or you attack them. You dont want your Bees to die/angry at you. Even if you have crafted Beehive for your Bees and Provide Flowers for them, they will still attack you if you harvest their nest without a Campfire.

Therefore you need to set a Campfire under their nest to calm them down.

Just like in the real world, Beekeeper uses smoke to calm the honey Bees.

But, youre going to make sure that the Campfire is covered. You dont want your Bees to get hurt or even die because of it.

However, you cant cover a Campfire on Bedrock. Somehow it has better physics than the Java Edition of Minecraft. See, images below:

    Campfires smoke on Java.

    Campfires smoke on Bedrock.

As you can see, Campfires smoke cant be passing through the Carpet, Trapdoor, and Slab in Bedrock. Therefore I suggest covering the Campfire side by side instead of from the top if youre playing Minecraft Bedrock.

    Open Your Crafting Menu

Once you have collected all the items mentioned above, you can move ahead to get beehives quite quickly in Minecraft. You will open the crafting menu. It would take you to the crafting table of 3×3 from your Minecraft inventory slot.

You will use honeycombs, wooden planks, shear, and dispenser to facilitate the whole process of getting a beehive in Minecraft. By adequately following these steps, you will be able to add a beehive to your Minecraft inventory within no time.

They may be missing their wings, but these bees are still cute as buttons. As with the previous build, the dripping honey really adds a dimensionality to the piece.

Youll know that honey is ready to harvest or reaches Level 5 when you see glimmers of honey seeping out of the beehive block. You may also see honey on the floor if you chose to put your beehive on a scaffolding.
