Option : Play On Another Server
Possibly the easiest of the options available, you can always just play Minecraft with friends on a server somebody else controls.;
There are plenty of cool options available if you take this route. Not only that, you generally have to put in the server address and get playing. No complex setup needed!
Servers other people make come in all shapes and sizes. Pretty much all big ones also have at least some plugins; there will at least be measures to stop cheaters.
The downside of this option is the lack of control. You can only search and hope you find a server that fits your style.;
Parents should also be careful with encouraging their kids to go down this route. Once publically accessible servers get involved, all bets are off.
Servers may have cussing and other strangeness that can surprise the uninitiated. It’s also possible to suddenly lose one’s progress if an admin decides to shutdown the server or there a griefer figures out a way to ruin one’s work.
If you can put up with the occasional nonsense, this option is undoubtedly the simplest for people who want to jump in and play Minecraft.

First things first, you need to assign a static IP address to the computer that is hosting your Minecraft session.;By doing this, you avoid having to look up the IP address of your computer on the local LAN every time you want to play with your friends online.
You can assign a static IP address at the computer level,;but thats not ideal, as it may conflict with the IP addresses your router assigns to other machines. Ideally, you want to set the static IP address at the router level.

This process varies based on the manufacturer and the version of the firmware installed on your router, but;our guide to setting a static IP address on a router running DD-WRT provides a good overview of the process. In most cases,;youll need the MAC address;of the Minecraft computer to do this. If you run into any problems, youll have to refer to the manual for your specific router.
In our example, we found our computers MAC address and weve given it the IP address 10.0.0.101 in the static lease section of our routers configuration. After saving, your computer should keep that same IP address forever .

Four: Start Your Game And Invite Your Friend
Now, youve assigned your Minecraft computer a static internal IP address, forwarded the Minecraft port to that machine, and given your home an easy-to-remember address for your friends. Its time to put this information into Minecraft and start playing.

Now, you;can simply click Start LAN World. If youre curious about the different settings, check out our full guide to LAN games here.
When your LAN game starts youll see this message on your game screen:;Local game hosted on port XXXXX. Minecraft randomizes the port number every time you start a new LAN game, so this number will be different each time.
This is the;annoying part:;you need to take that number, go back to your routers port forwarding settings, and change the internal port for the port forwarding rule to whatever the XXXXX number wasthis step is not optional. In the case of our screenshot below, that means we change the internal port number to 55340, and keep the external port number the same.
Youre finally donenow your friends can connect to you.
If you skipped step three, head to whatismyip.org, and send that IP address to your friend. If you set up a dynamic DNS service in step three, send your dynamic address to your friend instead.
Inviting Friends To Your Game
