Don’t forget about this event. Add it to your calendar.

Allowed Ages:

Is there a Creeper in our midst? Hop into the KPL Minecraft Server and let’s go exploring! Every month we will meet for a different Minecraft adventure and explore a new map or spend time doing a building challenge. You must have a Minecraft account and play on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android Phone, iPhone, iPad, Windows 10, Windows Phone, Amazon Fire tablets, or Gear VR. You cannot be playing on the Java version. You will be emailed how to access the server the day before the program. Registration Required.

We will also meet over Zoom so that we can talk as we play. After registering, check your email for confirmation, which will include a link to the Zoom event. Check your spam folder and call the library if you don’t receive it.

What Happened On The Day

Here are some of the screen shots I made while engaged in this event. There are more screen captures uploaded to the Discord chatroom for those who wish to talk with VSTE teachers.

Most of those present just started building, all in creative mode, with unlimited tools and resources at their disposal. We start with an overview taken from across the way looking back on where the building was taking place

And moving in closer as the building was getting under way

Mainecakes made a turtle pond, complete with turtle shed either spawned or lured there. Once done, she set about decorating the area with some of the plants available in creative inventory.

K4sons set about making a saddlery shop. Some of the local mobs came around to have a look. I right clicked on one. I could have grabbed a few dozen lumps of coal from inventory and traded them with him for the emerald he had concealed under his cloak.

SunTzu and Beth_Ghostraven created a crenelated castle and when they moved to the second floor, the ground floor started attracting spiders and zombies, who tend to emerge during periods of relative darkness, such as rainstorms. In the screenshot below someone has slain a zombie and left its rotten carcass there for someone else to collect. If you accumulate such carcasses you can trade them with villagers for things you cant find otherwise in Minecraft.

I created my own monstrosity on a plateau behind where the others were building.

Discussion And Links From The Group Chat In Discord

Someone asked if people in the group were planning to use Minecraft with their students next term. I was quite surprised that one or two in the group answered in the negative, giving reasons of reduced funding for licenses and adequately powerful computers for students to use to run Minecraft, and poor to negligible technical and admin support, which again are additional symptoms of under-funding for staffing and overtime for after-school activities. If schools could fund creativity through increased staffing, it seems to me they would. It seems to me a step in the very wrong direction when a school system cant support the efforts of teachers to integrate into their curricula something as creative and promotional of critical thinking as Minecraft. As someone else said in the chat, he thought you could teach anything in Minecraft. The point was discussed, and someone else pointed out the learning was in the discussion following the meaningful play, and that it takes a teacher with experience and the instincts to be able to convert game play into meaningful discussion, and from there into learning outcomes that jibe with the curriculum.

When Is The Release Date Of The Wild Update For Minecraft

With the second half of the Caves and Cliffs Update not even officially released to players yet, the question of when The Wild Update can be expected is met with an understandably vague answer. Mojang Studios has elected not to share any release dates or even a target window, which aligns with how the developer usually works . At least for now, the release date for The Wild Update is simply “2022,” with nothing more specific than that.

1.18 Caves and Cliffs Update Part Two is expected later in 2021, and then we’ll likely begin to learn more about The Wild Update and what’s to come. Right now, The Wild Update looks to be one release instead of the two-part drop that the Caves and Cliffs Update was, but plans could change later on .

Like with every Minecraft release, The Wild Update is heading to Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and Minecraft: Java Edition, which is available on practically every gaming platform imaginable. The Wild Update should also be closer in parity across Minecraft versions than previous updates.

We’ll continue to update this section as we learn more about when The Wild Update is coming to Minecraft players everywhere, including when Mojang begins early testing of features and changes through its beta and snapshot programs.

What Ended Minecraft Monday

Minecraft Monday came to an abrupt end in November of 2019. This was due to the server that the event was hosted on being hacked in the middle of a tournament.

The two anonymous hackers joined the server, began banning competitors, spamming their in-game handles and channel links in hopes that they’d gain clout from hacking the event, and wrecking the beautifully crafted spawn area.

In the end, there was never a winner named for the final week of Minecraft Monday. Competitors ditched the event so the moderators could attempt to clean up the mess left behind, opting to play some lighthearted, nostalgic minigames all together on Hypixel.

Minecraft Monday Rules Scoring System

  • Eliminations: +10 Score
  • Top 2 Teams: +20 Score
  • Top 3 Teams: +10 Score
  • Surviving: +2 Score

An added note, scoring for placements, surviving and victories are split between teammates if both are alive. But if one member of the team gets eliminated, the score is awarded to the surviving teammate.

There’s no cheating allowed. Cheating includes no cross-teaming, no “feeding” to help another team no mods or resource packs that grant unfair advantages. Trash talk is allowed, but toxic trash talk could result in a ban.

UMG listed the games played as follows for Week 5. This section hasn’t been updated for Week 6, so we’ll keep an eye out in case it changes.

  • 1. Hunger Games

The Next Dlc Is Howling Peaks

The and Creeping Winter DLC expansions for Minecraft Dungeons confirmed that the game has lasting longevity and potential, but those releases exhausted the promised two updates with the Hero Edition. So what happens next? Well, Mojang Studios confirmed this at Minecraft Live today, and we now know that the next expansion for the ARPG game will be the Howling Peaks DLC, which, while similar in many ways to its predecessors, should add plenty of much-requested endgame content.

Howling Peaks as a paid expansion will include things like:

  • A new island with multiple levels to explore and complete.
  • New mobs, variants, and the powerful Tempest Golem boss.
  • New equipment and items to find, use, and power-up with.
  • Additional challenging Missions to add flavor to Minecraft Dungeons playthroughs.

However, Howling Peaks doesn’t come alone, just like previous expansions, and will also launch alongside a completely free update that all players will be able to benefit from. This free update will bring the base game of Minecraft Dungeons up to par with the latest bug fixes, balancing changes, and quality-of-life improvements, but will also include:

  • An Apocalypse Plus mode, with 20 new higher difficulties added to the game.
  • An increased power cap for players to coincide with the new difficulty levels.
  • New enchantments and Unique gear for players to find.

It Is Essentially Made To Bring The Community Together

Article continues below this ad

Keemstars efforts to unite the community was a brilliant initiative until it shut down due to financial issues. Thankfully, that was not the end of it. After the recent tweet traffic, we can be hopeful that this initiative which broke the internet back in 2019 would come back again for us all.

Article continues below this ad

It was more about putting on a show for the community than personal gains. People had a misconception which gave a negative impact on this initiative. They kept assuming that Keemstar was making big bucks out of it, but indeed that was not the case. In an interview, he revealed that it was not like that at all. People really had no idea about the amount of effort needed to orchestrate this. However, eventually, they came around. The best news for us Minecraft fans now is that there might be a possibility that Minecraft Monday is going to resume soon enough.

The State Of Minecraft In 2021

Minecraft Mondays ep:26

It’s a great time to be a Minecraft player. The blocky sandbox continues to be a powerhouse of activity with Mojang Studio’s regular feature updates and patch releases and from the incredible worlds that sprout up from the Minecraft community.

Even though it’s been 12 years since Minecraft’s initial release, Mojang is keeping the block-building game in great shape with 2020 being a particularly great year. Last year we saw Minecraft’s biggest update since it first launched in the form of The Nether, and less than a couple of months later Mojang announced another major update for Summer 2021. We also saw Mojang try something new with the Minecraft universe in the form of Minecraft Dungeons, a whole new game that combined Minecraft’s visuals with a whole new genre and received positive reviews.

Here’s what to expect from other major ongoing games in 2021:

With Minecraft continuing to break its concurrent player count each year and Mojang trying to bulk up Minecraft’s reach with new games and projects, the sandbox shows no signs of slowing down.

The Future Of Minecraft Dungeons

The Minecraft universe is a lot bigger than it was the last time we had a major Minecraft event, with the existence of Minecraft Dungeons not only bringing the franchise to all-new genres, but also attracting a completely different kind of player with its addictive, co-op focused, dungeon-crawling ARPG action. We assume we’re going to see a good bit of Minecraft Dungeons at Minecraft Live, if only because players are left with naught but questions without any information about future expansions. Will we learn more about the future of Minecraft Dungeons? Here’s hoping.

The ‘caves And Cliffs Update’

The moment you’ve all been waiting for. Minecraft’s next major update, the follow-up to the intimidating and already-fantastic Nether Update, has officially been announced at Minecraft Live. Now entering: the Caves and Cliffs Update, a frankly monstruous update that combines what would’ve been two huge updates into what might be the largest Minecraft update in years. And I’m all here for it. If you haven’t guessed by now from the name, the Caves and Cliffs Update will make sweeping changes to caves and mountains, changing the way we mine, climb, and everything in between.

A quick recap of what the Caves and Cliffs Update should include:

  • All-new generation for caves and mountains, including new cave variants.
  • New mobs, crafting recipes, ores, and more.
  • Quality-of-life improvements, better inventory management, and more.
  • A brand-new archeology system that introduces a different way to mine.
  • Countless changes that we don’t know about yet.

The Caves and Cliffs Update already looks incredible, but it does have a single glaring flaw: we won’t be able to get our hands on it until at least Summer of 2021. This kind of update takes a ton of work, and Mojang Studios wants to ensure the update is amazing when the larger Minecraft community gets their hands on it. I’m willing to wait for greatness, but I’m already feeling impatient for the Caves and Cliffs Update.

    When’s The Next Big Update

Minecraft has been perfect for recreating some of game, TV, and film’s greatest worlds. There’s the team who spent 10 years building Minecraft Middle-earth, the Minecraft Harry Potter RPG Witchcraft and Wizardry, and who can forget the incredible blocky homage to Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City. To see some more incredible Minecraft worlds, check out our best Minecraft builds guide.

The next big update is the Caves and Cliffs update and although Mojang hasn’t set a specific date, the update is expected to launch in Summer 2021. Minecraft’s gloomy caverns and snowy peaks will be getting a bunch of new blocks, mobs, and items with both areas getting more intricate terrain generationexpect plenty of tunnels, caverns, cave lakes, and underground waterfalls when you next dig beneath the dirt.

The new update will also feature lots more crafting. Digging in the caves will now reward you with crystals, including the sparkly amethyst, and you’ll be able to craft a bunch of new equipment. A lot of the crafting is currently under wraps but one item that will have a welcome place in your inventory is a telescope, which is pretty cool.

Minecraft’s updates don’t just chuck a bunch of new objects at you though, the Caves and Cliffs update will also introduce a new archaeological system where players can find buried ruins and special items when they dig. There’s even a new way of mining where you use a brush item to carefully dig out artifacts and try not to damage them.
