Trying To Allow My Child To Add Friends On Minecraft

Rather annoyingly, this thread asks this question, thousands of people have the same problem, I’ve found the answer but the thread is closed so I cannot post the answer there! Thanks, Micro$oft!

This page has the answer:

Select the Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety tab

At the bottom, change Add Friends to Allow and click Submit.

At this point, Minecraft still will not allow you to add friends. You have to actually sign out of Microsoft and sign back in again. It’s no good just closing Minecraft and opening again!

In Minecraft, go back to the main screen, then click Profile.

Then click Sign in for Free!

It should then take you to the Microsoft sign-in screen. If it doesn’t, try leaving Minecraft and starting it again.

Sign in, then click Let’s Play!

Hopefully, you’ll now be able to add friends.

How To Enable Cross

If you have a family group set up with your Microsoft Account and for Xbox, then you’ll already know about some of the great features for controlling what your kids have access to. But one thing they may want to use is actually hidden behind a setting you might not know exists.

Crossplay.

This is specifically referring to cross-network play, that is, playing with friends outside the Xbox Live walls. When it comes to some of today’s best Xbox games like Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons, it’s perfectly possible for your kids to play from their Xbox Series S with their friends on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation, for example, but to do so, you’ll have to give them the magic permission first.

There are a couple of different ways to enable it and we’ll walk you through each.

Invite People To My Realm

What Is A Minecraft Child Account & How to Allow Your ...

Its easy to invite other players to your Ream on Minecraft for Mobile, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation® 4 and 5, Windows 10 and Xbox One and Series X|S. To do this, you can use the Realms Invite Link feature to easily add more players without having to individually add them to your Realm.

Invite links are custom URLs, unique to your Realm, that you can use to invite new members. When someone clicks on an invite link, they will be prompted to sign in or sign up with their Xbox Live account.

They are then immediately added to the Realms whitelist/allowlist, which is your customized list of players you have welcomed to your Realm. Being on a whitlist/allowlist means they can jump into the world right away, even if the owner isnt online.

If your Realm is getting a bit crowded, you can cancel the old invite link so no one new can use it. Just refresh the link from your Realms member settings. Only the newest version of your invite link will let new players join, so its up to you if you want to share the new link with a new group of friends or keep it private.

So now, whether you want to share your Minecraft world with your family, closest friends, or the whole world, it’s easy to add them to your Realm with invite links. Want to know more about Realms? Check out our handy guide, Tips for New Realms Players, and soon you and your friends can be playing together!

Your kids love Minecraft, their friends love Minecraft, and they want to play it together when they cant be in the same physical placeand theyre begging you to make that happen. Dont worry, you dont have to figure it out on your own: were here to help.

Setting up a private server for your children and their friends to play Minecraft is a great way to create a safe place for them to enjoy the wildly popular game. Unlike public servers, a private server will only have players you know . In addition the problems that plague big and poorly moderated servers like swearing, inappropriate content and behavior, or griefing , will either be non-existent on a private server or, if they crop up, you know who the culprit is and can have a chat with their parent.

There are four ways to do this. In the following sections, youll see all four arranged by ease of usefrom easiest to most difficult.

Could My Kid Get Addicted To Minecraft

Since Minecraft doesn’t have an end point, it can be incredibly compelling. But even though some kids have a really hard time tearing themselves away from certain games — and some say they feel “addicted” to them — that’s probably due to other factors such as what’s going on in their lives rather than a true dependency. During the coronavirus pandemic, for example, Minecraft saw big increases in new players and multiplayer sessions. With all media, it’s important to help your kid learn to self-regulate, since you won’t always be around to cut them off. Start by having a conversation about all their daily duties and figure out how much game time fits in. Create a calendar, have them set a timer, and reward them for sticking to the time limits. If you’ve tried this and want more control over their screen time, consider installing a parental-control program that lets you set daily screen limits for different programs.

Can My Kid Play With Friends On Minecraft

how to add friends in minecraft

Yes, it’s possible for your kid to play with their friends. It’s easier on console versions, because you just need to know your friends’ gamertag or player ID to add them to your session. It can be a bit more complicated on PC and mobile systems, because you both have to be on the same server. There are mods and other methods — including manually — to add friends to your dedicated friend lists. Minecraft offers instructions for playing with friends.

Option Three: Host It At Homeyour Hardware Your Hassle

  • Pros: Your only expense is electricity. You have total control over everything.
  • Cons: You have to install and configure everything. You supply the hardware. Theres no quick start or friendly dashboard.
  • Best for: Parents very comfortable with Minecraft and computers in general .

If you consider yourself the geeky type, and youre not afraid to manage every aspect of running a Minecraft server for your kids , then you can run a Minecraft server right out of your house.

On the upside: you have total control over the entire process, you can choose whatever server software you want, the files are stored right at home, and all the game play takes place right at home too. We have guides for setting up the vanilla Minecraft server platform available from Mojang or a third party server platform like Spigot that supports plugins.

On the downside: if you want the server up 24/7, you have to leave a computer on 24/7 . You need good enough hardware to run the server smoothly in the first place. Youll need to fiddle with setting up port forwarding rules to allow external access to the server , and while youre at it, youll likely need to set up a Dynamic DNS address so their friends can easily find the server even if your home IP address changes.

Can You Chat With Strangers In Minecraft

If you’re playing a multiplayer game, you can text-chat with people you don’t know. But you can hide the chat window if you don’t want to see messages or interact. To minimize contact with strangers, you can join a server organized by someone you know or set up your own. Players can also play “local” games with people in their homes. Kids can also download a chatting app such as Discord and voice- or video-chat while playing Minecraft.

How To Add Cross

In a very similar method to inviting friends, those on console versions of Minecraft have a particularly easy way of playing with people on other platforms. From the in-game menu, go to the “Invite to Game” sub-menu to be shown a list of the online and offline friends for that specific platform, however, at the bottom of this menu, there will be an option to “Find Cross-Platform Friends”.

Select this option to find a menu where one can search for the desired ally’s Gamertag and all the same options for adding them as a friend or favorite.

    What Are Minecraft’s Different Modes

Minecraft offers three modes of play: Adventure, Creative, and Survival. Each has four levels of difficulty: Peaceful, Easy, Normal, and Hard. The difficulty levels determine how threatening the mobs are, up the ante on your health stats, and add other challenges.

Adventure and Survival modes are similar, but Adventure mode is designed for gamers to play on downloadable game maps created by other players. These modes have you battling hostile creatures, building structures, and continually managing your health stats. Creative mode is the best option for novices and younger players: It gives you full access to all the resources in the game so you can build endlessly without worrying about dying or fending off mobs .

How To Add Friends In Minecraft For Mobile

To be able to play on mobile with your friends, you all need to be within a particular area and must be connected to the same network. Proximity matters for the pocket edition. If you have figured out the issue of proximity, then follow the steps below to add your friends.

    1. On local server multiplayer, switch the settings ON

    2. Start the game and then log into the platform with a Microsoft account.

    3. Proceed to create your world, when its done loading, scroll to the menu section.

    4. Find your friends using either their Minecraft ID or Gamertag and then add them.

Option Two: Third Party Hosts Are Flexible But More Hands On

Cant join Minecraft PE Realm/Cant add friends.
    • Pros: Best value-to-dollar ratio. Host more players for less. Supports plugins and advanced features.
    • Cons: Requires more hands-on-configuration and parental involvement.
    • Best for: Parents comfortable with Minecraft and doing some manual configuration .

If youre willing to invest a little more energy into the project , then you might consider purchasing a third party Minecraft host.

There are a multitude of benefits that come with a third party host over a Realms server. First and foremost, youll get more for your dollar: the $8 a month you spend on a Realms server will get you a third party host that supports many more players .

RELATED:How to Select a Remote Minecraft Host

Furthermore, most hosts will include support for plugins that enhance Minecraft with cool features, a subdomain so your kids server will have a memorable name like coolkidsbuilding.someMChost.com, and a good host will even have a web-based control panel where you can control the server .

On the downside, while youre getting more bang-for-your-buck than buying a Realms account, youre also getting more work: its up to you to make sure the whitelist is turned on, for example, and youll be in charge of managing all the whiz-bang extras you get with a more advanced host.
