Solution 1 Update Java
Java Runtime Environment is an essential system requirement for Minecraft server software. So if you dont have Java installed, thats probably why you cant open the Minecraft server.
Even if you do, the server software might still need an updated Java version such as 1.7.10. You can verify Java and check if you have the latest version as follows:
Connecting To Your Minecraft Server
Now that your server is installed, you can connect to it from Minecraft. Launch Minecraft and select Multiplayer.
Click Add Server
Enter server details and click Done. You can obtain the Minecraft server IP address by going to Google and searching whats my IP. You may need to open up access to port 25565 on your router if your friends are unable to connect. Keep in mind that your home IP address may change frequently, so you will need to provide them with the updated connections details when this happens. One of the main advantages of using a cloud server is you always keep the same IP.

Downloading Vanilla Software For Windows 7/vista/xp
First you’ll need to create a folder called “Minecraft_Server” or something that can tell you this will be your Minecraft server folder. Now from here you can either download the .exe file or the .jar file. .exe is easier and I don’t really know the difference between them, but if for some reason your just a .jar guy, then Im sorry but you can find another tutorial for the jar file. First, go to and under Multiplayer Server, click on minecraft_server1.7.10.exe. That will start the download. Place the file in your Minecraft_Server folder. Run the file and it should load up all the worlds and stuff. After it says “Done!”, you can close it. Next, you’ll have to set yourself as an operator . To do this, look at the other files in your Minecraft_Server folder and find “ops.txt.” Type in your Minecraft username and you will become an op. If you want to more people, press enter, and then add their username.

Solution 8 Reset Winstock
If theres something wrong with your winstock settings, Minecraft is very likely to fail to connect to the server. The solution, in this case, is to reset winstock.
In case you dont know how to do that, just follow these steps:
Users reported that this solution usually fixes issues with IP configuration problem, but bear in mind that if you use static IP address youll have to set it again.
If the previous commands didnt work, you might want to try these commands as well:
- ipconfig /release
- ipconfig /flushdns
- ipconfig /renew
Now, hopefully, you should be able to open your Minecraft server download. The server will generate your default Minecraft world, which you can replace with a saved game world.
Then you can open Minecraft, select Multiplayer and add the server to it with IP address.
