How To Upgrade And Expand Map Size In Minecraft

To upgrade a map, you first need to get more paper. You need 8 pieces of paper to expand the map once. If you want to go all the way to do the allowed 4-time expansion, you need 32 pieces of paper. The recipe to expand the map size in Minecraft is really simple. You need to place your existing map in the middle of the crafting area and surround it with paper pieces. Thats it.

You can repeat the process three more times to upgrade the map to its full potential. By equipping this zoomed-out version of the map, you can walk around and record a larger portion of your Minecraft world. It can be even more useful with the ability to mark locations on it and with the use of the cartography features in-game.

How To Create An Empty Locator Map

The resources you need for the navigation device are four iron ingots and one piece of Redstone dust. You’ll need to roam beneath the surface to find and mine these materials. To upgrade the size of you map, you need to upgrade your map from Level 0 to Level 1. To do this, add the Level 0 map and 8 more paper to the 3×3 crafting grid.

The newly crafted map will now be upgraded to a Level 1 map which is larger than the previous. When you open this map, it won’t be completely filled in.

Changes In Bountiful Update

As of Minecraft 1.8 the mapping system changed considerably. Overlapping maps are no longer possible to create at all. Each zoom level of maps has a grid that all maps now align to. Required Materials To Make A Map In Minecraft

There are two main components needed to craft maps in Minecraft:

· Paper

Even if you just started playing the game, chances are that youve come across sugar cane in your explorations. They like water so youll find them near lakes, rivers, etc., in different biomes like deserts and swamps.

You craft paper in multiples of three with a one-to-one ratio: one sugar cane makes one piece of paper. But when you use the crafting table, youll use three sugar canes for three pieces of paper.

Do this three times and youll end up with nine pieces of paper. You only need eight pieces of paper to craft a map, but you can use the extra ninth piece for a different project.

· Compass
