Minecraft Crossplay Finally Coming To Ps4 But Youll Need An Xbox Live Account
Crossplay between almost all versions of Minecraft has been a thing for a while now, but the PlayStation 4 has been tragically left out of the party. Well, the PS4 version of Minecraft finally gets crossplay tomorrow, but theres a somewhat odd caveat crossplay on the PS4 will require a Microsoft or Xbox Live account. Starting tomorrow, PS4 owners will be able to download the unified Minecraft Bedrock version, which includes crossplay. This is a treated as a separate game from the original Minecraft PlayStation 4 Edition, which you can still play if youve already downloaded it, but will no longer be sold. The new PS4 version of Minecraft wont require you to pay for Xbox Live Gold, the basic free version will do, and will include regular Trophies rather than Achievements.
A Microsoft spokesperson had this to say about crossplay coming to the PS4 version of Minecraft

If you like to sink your hours into games, collecting and/or completing them, then a PS Now subscription may not be worth much to you. Conversely, its great for anyone who either spends less time on their console, are dealing with other priorities, or are looking for games to explore and not feel tied to the progress in those games.
Two other things that make PS Now a great choice is that:
- Everything is digital no ownership, no strings. Its great for minimalists, or for any pay-per-view sort of person.
- You can stream last-gen games on your PS4/PS5 PS1 games, PS2 games, and PS3 games are included.
One downside to the PS Now service is that there are no PS5 games available on it. You still need to buy those.
Two arguments could be made for the PS Plus that you need it for online play, and you need it for the best discounts.
If thats something up your alley, then its worth it.
Its also a great way to obtain some of the best discounts on games its a ticket to nirvana for anyone who likes to own things, build collections, and share them with friends.
