Minecraft Dungeons Will Support Touch Controls Through Cloud Gaming
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users won’t need to grab a controller to play Minecraft Dungeons on their phones.
Cloud Gaming with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is launching on September 15 in multiple markets, including the US, and it’ll let you stream your Game Pass titles to an Android phone or tablet. For most games, you’ll still want to sync up a controller with your phone for play, but if you’re deep into Minecraft Dungeons, that won’t be necessary.
In a post to Xbox Wire, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of cloud gaming Kareem Choudhry outlined how the Minecraft spin-off has been adapted for mobile players who stream the game through Game Pass Ultimate. The UI and controls have been optimized for touch screens, they explain, with on-screen buttons being used for all the functions usually assigned to a controller.
UI changes will be made to your inventory and the menu screens, too, making them easy to navigate through touch controls. Choudhry says that it’s received the same attention that the mobile version of Minecraft has. You can see this in action in the video below.
Players who choose to stream the game to their mobile devices will be able to play co-op with friends on Xbox One, and when crossplay is enabled later this year they’ll also be able to team up with PC, PS4, and Switch players.

Microsoft has revealed that the overwhelming majority of Minecraft Dungeons players on Xbox Game Pass prefer to experience multiplayer locally.
Microsoft recently revealed that a whopping 80 percent of Minecraft Dungeons players on Xbox Game Pass prefer to experience the game’s multiplayer features in couch co-op this is on top of news that Minecraft Dungeons recently hit 10 million players. The dungeon crawler from Mojang Studios and Double Eleven released on consoles and PC last year, and continues to receive support in the form of new content.
In fact, the Flames of the Nether DLC goes live later this month on February 24, alongside the game’s biggest free update yet. Players who pick up the DLC can expect to explore an all-new realm, the Nether, filled with new story content and six additional missions. Meanwhile, the next free update for Minecraft Dungeons is slated to usher in Ancient Hunts, a set of procedurally-generated end-game missions that should prove quite challenging. As of September 15, 2020, you can play Minecraft Dungeons on Android mobile devices via the Xbox Game Pass app, available on the Google Play Store and the Samsung Galaxy Store . A Game Pass Ultimate subscription is also required to play games from the cloud through the Xbox Game Pass app.

Xbox Game Pass Adds Alan Wake Today Minecraft Dungeons Next Week
Microsoft added new games for both Xbox Game Pass on PC and console today, and revealed games leaving the service at the end of the month.
As announced last week, Remedy Entertainments supernatural action-adventure horror game Alan Wake is now available for both Xbox Game Pass on PC and console.
The city-building simulation game Cities: Skylines is also available today for both platforms of the pass, while Plebby Quest: The Crusades has been added for PC. Plebby Quest: The Crusades is a turn-based strategy game set during the crusades of Europe and the Middle East that launched last April.
Minecraft Dungeons, the dungeon crawler Minecraft spin-off, is still scheduled to launch for PC and Xbox One next week on Tuesday, May 26. It will be available for both Xbox Game Pass on PC and console, but will not feature cross-platform play initially at launch.
Microsoft also announced several games leaving the service on May 29. Subscription members can buy expiring games with a 20% discount to keep and continuing playing them. The full list as follows:

Family sharing and other forms of game sharing are not supported by Minecraft Dungeons on Windows 10 and above at this time.Attempting to play on another account may result in an error “Game ownership not established”. Be sure that you are logging in to Minecraft Dungeons with the same Microsoft account that is signed into the Microsoft Store app and was used to purchase the game.
How Do I Enable Cross
Most games that support cross-play use a common account across platforms to enable it since platforms like Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch don’t natively talk to each other. For Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons, you’ll need a Microsoft Account. It’s super easy to set-up, gives you a ton of security and privacy controls, and provides native integration into Xbox and Windows 10 for even easier play.
If you’re playing through an Xbox console (including the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S or Windows 10, you don’t need to do anything else here. People playing on PS4 or Nintendo Switch will need to go through a couple extra steps.

How Do I Play With Friends Using Cross
Once you’ve connected your Microsoft Account with Minecraft Dungeons, you’re ready to begin playing with friends from other platforms! Since this is all built on a Microsoft Account, playing with friends means knowing their gamertags, or their username with Microsoft and Xbox. You should’ve chosen a gamertag when you created your Microsoft Account for gaming . You can find your friends using their gamertags, and other players can find you by using yours.
To make things even easier, you can search for friends, create and join games, and even invite other players all from within Minecraft Dungeons.
If you’re starting a new game, you’ll see this Friends menu, which lets you toggle between an online and offline game lobby or toggle a private game . Add friends by searching for their gamertags, or join friends who are already in a lobby.
Once you’ve created a game lobby, you can invite friends who are online to join you. Keep in mind, this doesn’t always work, depending on where that friend is playing. Inviting works great to and from Xbox and Windows platforms, but Switch and PS4 can only send invites, not receive them. This means it can be a little trickier to set games up on Switch and PS4.
