How Do I Make My Minecraft Map Bigger

Everything About the Cartography Table in Minecraft

To upgrade the size of you map, you need to upgrade your map from Level 0 to Level 1. To do this, add the Level 0 map and 8 more paper to the 3×3 crafting grid. The newly crafted map will now be upgraded to a Level 1 map which is larger than the previous. When you open this map, it won’t be completely filled in.

How Do You Make A 3×3 Map Wall In Minecraft

You can place your Maps on Item Frames to make one big continuous map. Here’s how to make a 3X3 wall map:

  • Make 9 Empty Locator Maps. Follow the instructions in the first section of this article.

  • Make 9 Item Frames. Put 1 Leather in the middle of the Crafting Table and 8 Sticks in the other boxes to make 1 Item Frame.

  • Go to where you want the center of your Map to be. Then, lay 9 solid blocks of any type on top of each other in a 3X3 square.

Technically, you can make your map wall any size so long as you have enough materials.

  • Use the Item Frames on the blocks to mount them.

  • Equip and use an Empty Locator Map to fill it out, then use the Map on the center Item Frame.

  • Look at the Map in your hands . You’ll see a green dot marking the location of your wall and a white arrow representing your location.

  • Go south to the very edge of the Map, then equip and use another Empty Locator Map and fill it out,

  • Go back to the wall and place the new Map on the bottom-center block.

  • Repeat steps 7-8 for the southeast, southwest, east, west, north, northeast, and northwest to complete your map wall.

  • What Are Explorer Maps

Explorer Maps are special types of maps which work differently to regular maps. Explorer Maps show an area where there is a rare structure type: either a Buried Treasure, a Woodland Mansion, or an Ocean Monument. The rare structure will always be marked somewhere on the map by an icon.

Explorer Maps cannot be crafted. To get one, you have to trade Emeralds and a Compass with a Cartography Villager .

Explorer Maps often show areas far away from the player, but you’ll always be able to see where you are in relation to the map by looking at the player marker. If you’re outside the boundaries of the map, your player marker will be small and appear somewhere on the map border. As you approach, the marker will get larger. Once you pass the map boundary, you’ll begin to explore and fill out the map, just like a normal map.

Add The Paper And Planks To Make A Cartography Table

In the crafting table, add the papers and planks to the grid. You can use any type of wood planks available in the game, including oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, or dark oak wood planks. In this example, we will be using oak wood planks.

You must add the papers and planks to the grid exactly as shown in the image below. In the 1st row place down 1 paper in the 2nd box and 1 paper in the 3rd box. In the second row place down 1 wood plank in the 2nd box and 1 wood plank in the 3rd box. In the 3rd row place down 1 wood plank in the 2nd box and 1 wood plank in the 3rd box. This is the Minecraft cartography table recipe.

After you’ve added the items to the crafting grid as described above, you’ll notice a cartography table in the box on the right.

Maps can be a pretty important aspect of Minecraft if you’re looking to have a good idea of what is going on in your world. To expand what you can do with these, you can utilize the Cartography Table to enlarge, clone, and lock them. We’ll be taking a look at how to make a Cartography Table in Minecraft Survival.

How To Use A Cartography Table In Minecraft

Right click on a cartography table to open its UI. Here there are two squares on the left which are the inputs and the square on the right is the output.

The map name is only present in the Bedrock edition of Minecraft. You can rename the map to simplify what the maps purpose is. The cartography table can also make an existing map larger.

To make a larger map simply place an already opened map into one of the slots on the left and some paper in the slots as well. Clicking on the output will consume both items on the left and give you a more zoomed out map.

You can do this up to four times. If you would like to add a locator to the map so you can keep track of where the player is on the map you can do so at a cartography table. Add your existing map to the left slot and add a compass to it.

Now the map will show you where the player is on the map as well as where they are facing.

If you are playing on a multiplayer server, the map will also show you the locations of other players as long as they fit on the map. If they do not fit within the boundaries of the map, they will appear at the edges of the map with their own assigned color.

If you want to ensure no further changes to the map you have made you can do so at a cartographer table. Simply add the map you want to lock and add a glass pane to the slot on the left. Once a map is locked you cannot transform it into a locator map.
