How to use 64 bit Java for Minecraft? This article will teach you how to make Minecraft 64 bit and everything you need to know about running it on Windows 10.

Gaming is fun, and we cannot deny the excitement of running a game smoothly and lag-free on our computer. Lagging or crashes ruin the experience, and as with all other video games, the same is the case with Minecraft. Running the 64-bit version is a better option, as explained in our article: Minecraft Is it 32 or 64-bit?. Youll find a link to that article at the bottom of the current article.

There are several benefits of running the Minecraft 64-bit version over the 32-bit version on your computer. The most important ones include lesser crashes, smoother gameplay experience, and faster rendering. Minecraft runs on the Java platform, and by default, the Java version installed is the 32-bit one.

Hence, 64-bit Java for Minecraft is a prerequisite you need to fulfill. This article will teach you in detail steps on how to get 64 bit Minecraft for your computer.

Changing The Default Game Directory

For demonstration purposes were going to create a new profile and save all the game data in a new location. Before we start changing things around, lets make that new profile.

Do so by clicking on the New Profile button; this will load the profile editor as seen below.

Weve made two modifications here. First, weve given the profile a name Snapshot Tester and weve specified a different data directory by checking Game Directory and appending the default .minecraft directory to .minecraft-snapshottester. Now all our world saves for the Snapshot Tester profile will go into a separate directory from the default profile.

Change Which Version Of Java Minecraft Uses

I installed Minecraft recently on a computer so that my eleven year old nephew could play the game on it . Since I never installed or played the game before, I was unfamiliar with the setup and assumed that it was still necessary to have the Java Runtime Environment installed on the computer to run it at all.

Turns out that this is only partially correct anymore. Mojang offers standalone versions of Minecraft for Windows that ship with an integrated version of Java that the game uses by default on new installations.

You can verify that this is the case right on the download page on the official website where it states under Windows that “you don’t need Java installed to run” the Windows versions of Minecraft.

Once you have downloaded minecraft.exe on your computer and ran it, you will notice that it downloads the Java Runtime Environment and adds it as a folder to the root directory that you ran the file from.

While that should work out of the box for most Minecraft players, you may run into issues. If you just updated Minecraft for instance, a separately installed Java version may still be used by the game.

Since Minecraft ships with Java 8 included, the version that I got was Java 1.8.0.25, you may run into compatibility issues with certain mods that don’t play nice with that version of Java. In addition to that, Java 8 Update 25 is not the most recent version of Java.

Both issues can be corrected by changing the Java implementation used by the game.

Why Adjust The Version And Use Profiles

For other players, however, managing your version number is an important component of the Minecraft experience. Here are but a few examples of why you might need or want to manage your version number.

If you want to preserve an older world you created without risking that world experiencing corruption or update problems when you move to a newer version of Minecraft, youll need to lock the profile to the older version.

If you play online most multiplayer servers typically dont immediately update to the most current version as it is a huge headache for server owners to perform major updates. Mincraft 1.8 has been out for nearly three months as of this tutorial, for example, but the majority of multiplayer servers are still running 1.7.*.

On the opposite side of the gameplay spectrum, if you want to test out the bleeding edge features of the new experimental releases youll want to set up a profile for the most current snapshot builds so you can try out features that may take months to reach the public release build.

Further, you can make all the above radically more convenient by using the simple profile system built into the Minecraft launcher to make it easy to select the version you want for the task at hand as well as isolate your world saves to protect them from corruption.

How To Downgrade Minecraft Windows 10 Edition

Minecraft is a video game that requires players to create and break apart different types of blocks in three-dimensional worlds. It was created in 2009 by a video game development studio based in Sweden known as Mojang. Later on, Microsoft acquired it. It can be plainly described as a world made of blocks. Minecraft is an open-ended game that lets a player revisit it over and over again.

Minecraft gives players the freedom to build anything they want. Therefore, it can be said to be a game of infinite possibilities. The game has two main modes, which are the Creative and Survival modes.

In the Creative mode, players do not have to eat to survive, but they can break all kinds of blocks instantly, for they do not need to interact with them, as is the case with Survival mode.

In Survival mode, players are required to look for their food as well as supplies for buildings. In addition, they interact with block-like mobs or moving creatures. .

This game does not have any levels, or does it give players any points. There are no set paths to follow or any rigid objectives to guide a player. This is because the games main objective is to build, explore, and encourage players to be more creative to make the game as interesting as they would desire.
