Their scream is frightening enough to make players run to bed. Phantoms have been in the game since the 1.13 update. Players can get phantom membranes by killing these mobs.
During long mining sessions, players often forget to sleep. If a player has not slept for three days or more, phantoms start spawning in the skies. Phantoms can spawn anywhere between one to four, depending on difficulty level.

As y’all know, The Phantom was nerfed, doing only 1 and half hearts of damage on hard.
In the latest snapshot, damage has been increased: 2 hearts on easy, 3 on normal and 4 on hard.
I then edited the page accordingly.
God, those things are gonna be annoying before you get iron armor.

How To Make Phantoms Not Spawn
- Even negating the permission, if essentials has a higher priority for the spawn command you’ll receive you don’t have permission. What you should do, is in the essentials config file there is a section to disable commands so essentials won’t try to handle them. Example below. disabled-commands: – nick. – clear
- Insomnia: Whether phantoms can spawn in the nighttime. Fire: Whether fire should spread and naturally extinguish. Keep Inventory: Whether the player should keep items and experience level after death. Mob Loot: Whether mobs should drop items. Mob Griefing: Whether mobs should be able to modify the environment
- Minecraft Bedrock Edition players can edit their world settings under Game and uncheck the box next to Mob Spawning. Java Edition players can type /gamerule doMobSpawning false.

- No, because this was changed in 18w10d. The changelog article just never updated that part It was true in 10a, although I’m not sure why they relisted it because it was already listed in 9a. Insomnia Timer In Bedrock Edition
I made an edit that has been reverted, where I claimed the insomnia timer is 77,000 in BE based on checking time in MCCToolchest. Since the moderator asked that I recheck with an in-game test, I set up a timing system in-game to check. I set up command blocks to display a running tick count on a scoreboard and to turn off the counting as soon as a phantom was detected. I also setup command blocks with tripwire to reset the count at the exact tick that I entered a bed to sleep. After sleeping, I turned off daylight cycle and set time to midnight so that phantoms would be able to spawn as soon as possible. In 5 trials I got first phantom spawns at the following tick counts:

Gathering Cactus And Coal:
Once you have a Furnace, the final thing to do is gather cactus and coal. Cactus should be easy to find since they spawn in batches on Desert and Badland biomes. You can mine cactus by hand or any other tool, so you should be able to gather them without issues.
On the other hand, Coal is a mineral item that is commonly obtained by harvesting coal ores. You can usually find them on surface caves and cliffs. You can also dig down the surface of the Overworld, and you should come across blocks of Coal ores in no time.

A sword is the best way to strike down the phantom, or you can send in your tamed wolf. If all else fails the phantom isnt a fan of cats, usually staying a 16 block distance from any felines it will flee if your tamed cat hisses.

- As written in the wiki: every 60 to 70 seconds the game checks if the player has sky access and there’s room to spawn phantoms, and if so, rolls a chance to spawn phantoms. This roll may fail too . So if you emerge on 4th night, it might be you won’t see any phantoms at all, all night. But even if you emerge after a month of underground insomnia, it may take 69 seconds until first batch of phantoms spawns, and given plenty of luck they won’t and you’ll have another 60-70 seconds of safety. Do Phantoms Despawn Or No
I have a dungeon with a bunch of invisible armor stands, and I use command blocks to spawn random monsters on any armor stands with no monsters already near them. I noticed that the dungeon always starts with a random-seeming assortment of monsters and eventually fills up with phantoms. Phantoms are undead Minecraft mobs that players can see flying around the world pretty commonly. These are airborne hostile mobs, and they are pretty fast also. Players will barely see these little monsters coming.
Phantoms will spawn in the game when players have not slept or died for more than three days of in-game time. Phantoms will not spawn if a player has respawned or reset their spawn at any point within the three days.
Phantoms are little dark blue mobs that look like bats, except they have green eyes and they look similar to a mini dragon. Phantoms will swoop down and attack players from above when they are not paying attention.
Phantoms will only spawn between light levels of seven or less and will attempt to spawn every one to two minutes. These mobs will only spawn during the night time or during thunderstorms
Phantoms are most commonly seen if the player is at a y level of 75. They can shoot them down using bows, or they can just wait for them to come back down and strike them with the sword.
One thing that players may not know is that phantoms can be tamed in Minecraft.
How To Use Phantom Membrane
Phantom membranes have two uses. You can use them with an anvil to repair your elytra, or you can brew them into slow-falling potions in a brewing stand. Place your wings in the left slot and the phantom membrane in the right slot in order to repair your wings.
It is important to keep your wings healthy and it can be a nice stand in before you find the mending enchantment. To brew the potions, place three awkward potions in the bottom and place the phantom membrane in the ingredient slot.
After it is done brewing you will have potions of slow falling.
Potions of slow falling do exactly that. They make you fall slowly, even with elytra equipped and diving straight into the ground you will not take fall damage while this potion is in effect.

Material Drops From Phantoms
Phantoms only drop one material. Upon killing a phantom, you will receive XP and up to one phantom membrane. This can be increased up to four if you kill a phantom with a weapon enchanted with looting.
If a phantom dies at the hands of another mob or by fire, you will not receive any loot.
These membranes have a few uses, including repairing an elytra. Found in the End, elytras are essentially a pair of wings to help you fly around the world. Unfortunately, they can lose durability quite quickly. They are incredibly rare, so you definitely don’t want them to break while you are away from your base.
Repairing an elytra with a phantom membrane will restore its durability by 25%. If you travel with an unenchanted elytra, it’s important to carry a few extra phantom membranes. When your elytra durability gets low, just go to an anvil and repair it.
Phantom membranes can also be used to brew a slow-falling potion. When combining a phantom membrane with an awkward potion, you will get a slow falling potion. This potion allows you to fall slower and not take any fall damage.
Above, we learning that phantoms are afraid of cats. In addition to this, tamed cats have about a three percent chance to bring you a phantom membrane. This isn’t a very high percentage, but if you have quite a few tamed cats, then you may receive a phantom membrane as a gift soon.
